| I actually feel a bit conflicted about this, sometimes I feel too generous and sometimes I feel too harsh. I'd say I'm about average overall, (I think 5-6 is my usual score) but I tend to be very generous to sentimental pieces and harsher on Shonen and popular works. |

Stuff I have watched and liked, but moved on from gets a 7. Anything below that I've already dropped except for maybe a few titles I've completed due to peer pressure. | Generous. I always keep in mind that I am watching "cartoons" and that lowers my expectations. If I treated them the same way as movies on imdb my average score would drop by one or two in an instant. |

| Personal enjoyment is not an objective way to rate media. It tells people nothing. "I that it was a 10 cuz it's kewl an I like it!" means FUCK ALL if I'm trying to figure out whether to watch it or not. I know most people rate things this way. It would be great if they'd stop. Especially when 95% of what most viewers watch in simulcast will be forgotten about a few weeks after it ends. |

| If it's a standalone show, it'll depend on my enjoyment. If it's a sequel, it'll depend on how much or how little I enjoyed the 1st season. So for Vanitas, who's 1st season I liked, I'll try to be generous, even if the 2nd season is more or less inferior. For Dr. Stone, which I didn't like, I'll probably be harshe, even if the direction of the series is changed in the 2nd season. |

| I'm fairly generous, and have a pretty wide range of multiple different standards by which an anime can be rated 10. Most of the stuff I rate is >5. I can be pretty harsh to some fairly popular shows, though. |

I think I tend to be kinda harsh sometimes. It happens that a small factor can really affect my rating or that I get bored way too quick by an anime, so I might give it a really low score |

| I feel like everyone on MAL is a bit too generous, so much so that most of the time they forget that there's a 1 to 10 range of scores they can use to rate an anime. Most people don't even use anything below a 4 to rate shows, and because of that, when I see an anime that has an average rating of below 7, I know that it's most probably a shitty show, and if it's below or near 5, then it's probably unwatchable—which should not be the case. |

| I used to be very generous with my scores, typically giving out 10's and 9's quite regularly. Nowadays though I'm a lot less forgiving since I take more time to think about and analyze what I consume (and I've grown more and developed a better understanding of fictional works). I have 14 10's and my mean score is at a 6.05 right now, both should go down in my next list overhaul... whenever that is. |
