Yes, and also the novel started in 1998 and has 23 volumes right now, and the creators of anime probably knew that they won't adapt everything, so maybe they chose to make 4 story arcs and it came out in 18 episodes. Maybe they could do 1 more and make it 24 idk

Also, I wanted to recommend you Super Cub, but I remember that you don't like mediocre visuals. Other than that, it's slice of life + CGDCT, so it should be perfect for you. Maybe you can check the trailer and decide if it's worth it

Glad you enjoyed it, I agree that the story is ordered randomly, but that is just the nature of the original source. The author made a long series of many novels, slowly building the world and the lore using this chapter-like storytelling. Instead of the story being 1 straight line, it's many different lines going different directions but still all connecting to each other, and I personally enjoyed that.

I didn't get the appeal of "Oniichan wa Oshimai!", the art was cute, but the slice of life was too plain for me, and I wish they expanded more on the liberation that the main character went through. Overall, it was too bubbly and sweet for me

"Devilman:Crybaby" instantly became one of my favorites. I was shocked by the story, the creativity, and cried several times while watching. It was just perfect, a rare anime experience that gets all of my emotions going. I would put it in my top 3 favorite anime, huge thanks for that one

I am watching Mononoke now, and I'm enjoying it a lot. The art style is a little weird, but the directing is beautiful. It's a rare anime that actually has good horror elements to it. I still didn't finish it, but I am already excited about the new Mononoke movie that is going to release in 2024!

I have 2 more recommendations for you, first a serious one and another is a "trashy guilty pleasure" one. Odd Taxi is a great mystery / detective story. When you first look at the anime pictures, you see animals and might think that "it's some gag jokes anime or kids anime", but it's actually a great adult story and not Zootopia. The cartoonish animal characters contrast with the adult crime themes of the story, and it all wraps around very neat. Many consider it a masterpiece, but it's not that popular

Trashy recommendation is Kakkou no Iinazuke. It's basically a comedy harem, but the relationships between the characters are mind-blowing, they are all tied together in very funny ways. And the main character isn't typical and is not annoying like other harem characters.

Thanks, I'll watch all of them. Something about people's recommendations brings back the fire in me to watch a lot of anime like I used to.

No worries, it was a very easy recommendation, it seems the hosts of the event set us up perfectly based on our lists. Sadly, I didn't get that good of a recommendation from my Santa, so I would appreciate it if you gifted me something to watch back!

I just finished part 6 and I am absolutely floored by that ending..... HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT.....

I was partially spoiled, but I was still in absolute shock.

you said this was controversial? WHAT??

ok so it was a massive risk. I bet it took a lot of debate to pull something like this off, but I genuinely don't get how can someone not like this. this wasn't just my favorite climax in jojo. it's now one of my favourite climaxes in any piece of media I have seen.

after seeing that, honestly I think part 6 is easily my personal favorite. I wouldn't put it above part 4 quality wise, just because part 6 did have some shaky moments, and the animation was inconsistence. but I do genuinely think the last like 8 episodes of part 6 were the best part of my entire jojo experience. just.... wow....

since I didn't say it last time, I'll do this now, this how I felt about all the jojos:

Josepth > Jolyne > Jousuke > Jotaro > Johnathan > Giorno
APolygons2 Jun 11, 2023 7:57 AM
who doesn't like jolyn! she's my second favorite jojo right behind josepth!

I mean I don't even dislike the cast of part 5. they aren't bad. I didn't get fully invested in any of them. Buccirati and diavalo were the only 2 characters I really cared about. and even those 2 I didn't like as much as the characters in other parts.

again though they aren't bad. I still think part 5 is one of the best parts despite it being my least favorite.

it was nice chatting with you on this. i will tell you what I thought of the ending when I finish part 6.

I've been good, pretty stressed about a project, but other than that everything's great.

I really really enjoyed jojo. it's the longest series I have ever watched, and I really don't want to finish it. but I also really want to finish it to see what happens.

It's truly a one of a kind show, despite how influential it is there is actually nothing like it. I can't think of any other show that has a similar action scenes to the stand battle.

If I had to rank the parts (not having seen the last few episodes of part 6), I would say quality wise it's:

4 > 5 > 6 > 3 > 2 > 1

but I personally enjoyed them in this order:

2 = 6 > 4 > 1 > 3 > 5

part 5 is great but I just didn't get invested in the characters for some reason. so it ended up being the least fun.

on the other hand, part 1 is far from perfect. but it's so fast paced and focused, I didn't even have time to get bored. I also really liked the first 3 episode and finale of part 1.

I could honestly talk for hours on it. I've binged like 8 hours worth of youtube content on jojo.... I think I may have also spoiled the end of part 6 for myself, but I'm not sure, lol

Honnestly I don't think your take is bad. I do personnaly prefer bake but nise is also great and I think it might have been the most creative season of monogatari if that makes sense. I feel like it's one of the most monogatari out of all the monogatari seasons.

And yeah you're definitely right about Jojo.

btw I've rewatched Lain recently and I've come to appreciate it even more than I already did. What do you think about it ?
kaiki_fan_boy Jun 1, 2023 9:42 AM
Alright you're gonna hate me for this but I feel like Jojo is not that good. I think that its a cool anime but honnestly it's really not as good as people make it out to be. There are some great things here and there but there is also a lot of boring content that you have to sit through to get there. Take the example of part 1 which was imo just really boring (part 2 on the other hand was probably one of the best and most entertaning parts for me). Part 3 also has a lot of episodes which are kind of whatever imo. And even part 4 (which I believe to be a 9/10) has a lot of those boring episodes before you get to the interesting stuff.

I don't know if my critique is entirely justified but I find it to be a recurring problem in the franchise personnaly.

Anyways what's your hot take ?

And thanks for the friend request btw.
