Ooh, we got some storytelling about Masayuki and his previous encounter with a yuki-onna. Looks like he encountered her many years ago and now in the present timeline, there's also a connection.

I like Yuki-Onna's character design...a mix of human and supernatural with a graceful appearance. I like her character outfit in casual form too and she behaves like a human. Heh, somewhat of an amusing ending. Also regarding the ED theme song this season...I prefer the previous one as this was much more like a slideshow.

So I guess falling of a cliff while mountain climbing isn't a bad thing after all.

Also experiences like that is why a man develops trust issues.

Setting up our next major case for this season. Muroi has experienced a tough life, as soon as we meet him he's being pushed down a mountain slope. Betrayed by someone he thought was a friend in a vulnerable moment. Thankfully Muroi gets saved by that Yuki-Oona. Placing that barrier around him for the night then returning the next morning to save him. Muroi was very lucky th Yuki-Oona found him and saved his life. I enjoyed their banter immediately, the two sound very at ease with one another. Despite what Muroi says about Yuki-Oona we can tell he enjoys her company. Especially after the time skip and he's been through even more painful betrayals. Yuki-Oona has been the only good person in his life and shes not even a person. Muroi just spending time with her was probably the best time or his life, she started to bring out his hopeful side again. Their banter contained being very interesting and fun. I was waiting for the shoe to drop and it did at the end of the episode with Muroi being accused of killing his ex-wife. Yuki-Oona knows he didn't since they spent that night at home together but telling the police that would cause worse problems so getting Kotoko involved is the best option. She can solve this case and clear Muroi name.

Masayuki has gone through a lot of shit, but at least he has a beautiful yuki-onna to keep him company. Of course though, with his luck, he's now a murder suspect. This guy can't catch a break.

nice episode that made me believe in the potential of this series. We are at the beginning of a new case introducing the characters very well. Ending performed by Seiyuu Miyano is very disappointing

Wow! The entire episode was backstory for the coming plot.

Yuki-Onna is hot! (in a cool way...lol)
I love the animation in this series. These slender dark haired girls like Saki Yumihara are very sexy.

Actually one of my fave Kyouku suiri eps. Cool to get an entire episode dedicated to the backstory of a case.

Masayuki story is really fucked up, bro was just getting crossed by everyone. From friends to lovers. The Yuki-Onna is absolutely stunning I love her character design. Their time together was so wholesome, when she couldn’t even turn the stove top off because he was gone.. lol

I’m guessing the colleague who called him might be behind the ex wife death, that call seemed sus

Can't believe Masayuki almost died because of a girl that the other dude liked, seems like you can't trust anybody these days as your supposed "friend", luckily he got saved by an yuki-onna which is still with him in present day. The yuki-onna is pretty cool herself, with the dress and all of that.

Looks like Kotoko & Kurou's new mission is to help the yuki-onna to solve an mystery, supposedly the one where the ex-wife got murdered? Its gonna be interesting to see how the case will get solved.

That was actually a pretty good episode, probably one of (if not) the best episode in the series. The show definitely would work a lot better if all of it was structured like this. Like a quasi-anthology series (like Violet Evergarden, some part of Dororo etc.), where we see the cases and people more from their perspective, and where the main duo is on the sideline and we see them when they interact with the cases, and their story and relationship evolve through these.
Though Kotoko is cute and likable, and I don't have any problem with Kurou, their relationship doesn't evolve (which makes it stagnant and boring), and when the camera focuses on them too long, we mostly get incredibly tedious and long explanations, and an exposition dump from Kotoko, and that isn't fun at all and really boring.

The second half of the first season was actually terrible, but this episode at least gave me hope, that maybe the show can improve (though it is still a longshot because it is most likely dependent on the source material), if they would take the show don't tell to heart, and leave out the fcking expositions and long explanations in monologues.
Because generally, I like the characters, the setting, the music, and the atmosphere, but it didn't seem in most episodes, that they know how to translate a light novel (that has a lot of monologues and explanations I assume) into a very visual medium.

PS.: The Yuki Onna was also hot asf. And though I understand, that he could have felt pathetic due to feeling, like taking advantage of her/ trading "money" for intimacy, if he took up on her offer, and then his treats could have felt indecent to himself, you shouldn't decline such an offer from a beautiful, immortal yokai, who isn't dependent on you so you aren't really in a power advantage :)

Kyokou Suiri is not for those who hate the detective genre because this series contains too much content to grasp, so it is underestimated, but in fact, if you understand it, it will be extremely logical.

Pretty good episode, I also think like others in this discussion, specially with ookami and yuki-onna being awesome, and Aoi Yukki in this show it's 10 times better. Poor guy btw, being betrayed 3 times.

The first episode was kinda boring with the reintroductions (not that they weren't needed), but this one was quite nice!
Loved the yuki-onna. I hope we get to see her more in future eps. (Would be nice to have the new guy and her as a new romantic subplot).
She being voiced by Yuuki Aoi is also a plus.

Falling off a cliff may be bad, but in someone's case, it can be lucky.

The humble yokai Yuki-onna meeting Masayuki Muroi in the verge of death and saving him faster than the local authorities ever will. This is a secret that he will take to the grave, amidst the allegation that this was a lover's spat between friends, one that led Masayuki to never go mountain-climbing again.

11 years later, and coincidentally meeting the yuki-onna who saved his life the time prior, karma has struck again causing distrust within the young adult, but he's in a better position than before with the only trust given to her. This goes back to the Yuki-Onna relationship with Kotoko, and her human perspective is a godsend to them in mind that the yokai don't affect the humans' life too much, to the extent of sexual relations.

So what does the Yuki-Onna have in relation to Masayuki's case where his recently divorced wife was murdered? Only Kuro and Kotoko can intervene.

Mamoru Miyano's ED is back, though I prefer Season 1's ED.
Also, manga readers should automatically know that the ED visual is actually Volume 11's cover.

Poor Masayuki deserves better. While he does get some lucky moments, his life seems to be filled with obstacles hell bent on ruining him. =(

Firstly was his best friends, who pushed him off a mountain due to his jealous of a girl that he likes being interest more in Masayuki. Fortunately for him, the beautiful Yuki-Onna saved him, gave him an igloo for shelter for the night and carried him to his destination so that he could tell the truth about he his friend did, so that he'll be arrested.

11 years later, the two meet again in the town close to the mountains. Masayuki had already gone through more misfortune of divorcing his wife after she cheated on him and then his hard work with the company that he started up going in the direction that he didn't want it to go in. You can't blame him for having trust issues, but he was happy to see the Yuki-Onna again, this time wearing a lovely casual sleeveless top and skirt in public while eating an ice-cream.

Pretty much a lot of this episode was with him and the Yuki-Onna talking to each other, which is what made the episode itself very enjoyable due to how good their chemistry was. I was amused when she didn't mind wanting to get intimate with him as a way to repay after she thought she took advantage of him a bit too much, even more so when she was given approval of it from none other than Kotoko herself! XD

Sadly, Masayuki's luck would yet again go down the toilet as the police arrives to tell him that his ex-wife was murdered. With that, it's up to Kotoko and Kuro to help out and solve this mystery, which I hope they do. Overall, this second episode was great, through and through.

While I still prefer the ED from the first season, this new ED song from Mamoru Miyano still sounds chill and relaxing. =)

A strong episode to start this latest mystery off, almost entirely excluding Kotoko and Kuro to instead focus on introducing and establish Masayuki and his yuki-onna "friend". Definitely a big improvement after a necessary but mediocre first episode.

You know... for a show focused on solving mysteries and stuff, this sure was a great "romance-focused" episode. Now I 100% want a set of OVAs focused solely on Masayuki and Yuki-Onna's daily life. Seriously, I was so invested in their relationship I totally forgot this was Kotoko's anime lol.
