With how bad the quality was on 23, we shoulda expected this, lol. :s
Pray to spider god that the last episode will be watchable. And hopefully it doesn't become a lost episode that we see 6 months down the line like with some others.

Well we should have expected that. Last episode was just straight from a game. Hopefully the last episode will deliver a good ending.

Episode 24 is not the ending. It's only the beginning :)

Well, I'm only talking about the anime. But yes, it's just the beginning.

The whole production was a complete mess.
Since Episode what? 9? The whole show has gone downhill. To have production issues in the last episode just comes to show even more that the staff was severely rushed and under a lot of pressure and without enough budget to get by.
The company took a great LN series and shit all over it.
Ah, money talks at the end of the day even if their people did not have enough time or funds to deliver something decent.
Now the other problem is the delayed. Is just like WEP.
It comes down to available slots within the upcoming season when the schedule has been created already so most likely last episode will be delayed until September when they have an opening.

Damn whyd you have to make rational points... really hope this doesn’t get delayed til September. Thatd be the anime equivalent of blueBALLING the fans, atleast WEP ended on the last episode and the true end is a special like Kyoukai no Kanata’s movie. Kumo’s got a lot going on in the Last ep theyre probably just working to crisp up the characters.
Spider Queen’s appearance better be done proper!

it's so sad, a great story badly adapted in a crap production, honestly the series has no salvation, nor do I want to think if it takes another season, I hope a decent studio takes it.

This is yet another Wonder Egg Priority situation...only except that the production isn't anywhere near CloverWorks' standards.

Just pray tell that we're able to see the last episode as soon as the new revised date is announced.

This is imo 2021's anime which really deserved a bigger budget winner of the year, I'd be suprised if my opinion of this changed.

They know something about the supposed betrayal of Shun's half-siblings called Sue that will happen to her or if she marries Shun. Since there is a theory that shun marries katia, oka and sue?

Fuck, was really looking forward to the last episode, that means production schedule is that bad. Just started watching Tensura, if ever we get a season 2, I really hope it's 8bit that does it.

Glad I saw this as this was my only show to watch for tomorrow. Honestly I'd rather have it out of the way and done with than wait. I'm pretty much done with this series after this episode comes out anyway, as I intended to say tomorrow in the episode thread. Been awhile since a series disappointed me to this extent. But I suppose this is good news for fans who hope it'll end up being better thanks to the delay. For now guess I'll just put it on hold.

Since the final episode will probably include last Kumoko evolution they surely want to achieve the best quality, i'm a bit sad about this but after the last awfull animation side episodes, can be maybe a good choice.

Hope we do not need to wait months but maybe just a week or two.

Considering the 2D department has been struggling for weeks now this doesn't surprise me.

It's a shame, I think the CGI has been pretty consistent since the first episode, but the 2D animation, mostly the human parts, have been clunky and awkward, even falling apart in episode 14.

This show has been one production nightmare after another. The multiple delays proving that this is becoming heavy baggage for them. My worry is the possibility of a season 2 because I doubt they would want to go through this production hell again. Then again, Kadokawa would probably just hand it off to another studio if they wanted to. Still, I hope this finale sticks the landing because I've been enjoying the narrative so far.

Them just announcing re-brodcast of episodes from 13-23 that will air on 7/4....tells me that we won't see the last episode for 10 days at the very least.

Will probably wait for 3 months at the worst case.

If someone who know Japanese can tell me there is other news that indicate otherwise, please tell me

Otherwise it's a bummer.

I didn't mind the wait for WEP final episode cause they told us when to expect it right after airing Episode 12, but here they are leaving us in a limbo

Fucking hell... I was so hyped for it today at work. I don't care about animation anymore, it was shit for most of series anyway and they should know it too. If they delay single episode like that something serious had to happen.

What is the point of delaying, it is already the last episode and we aren't gonna get another season for the next decade anyway.

The English translation of the LN's 12th volume should be out next month, so I'll have to get my dose of Kumoko from there, I guess. The anime adaptation is truly uninspiring. Maybe they'll reboot the anime sometimes in the future, and do it right.

No reason to reboot it at all, they adapted the story faithfully at a good pace, they will just make a second season, and hope it will be better produced.

The 3D was horrible but that's to be expected when you use freaking Millepensee of all studio's to do them. I watched this for Kumoko only anyways so the human side was not interesting for me to begin with but goddamn that was horrible

What's the point of the delay!! Isn't the whole season was delayed before and nothing seems to be fixed.
To be honest, I was hoping that 8-bit or Nut studios do the adaption of this brilliant story as both of them have a great skills in handling both 2D and 3D CGI mix much better..
I hope that they gonna decide to change the studio after this season.

An (as of yet) indefinite delay of the last episode of the season is quite unusual and rather worrisome. Their "production issues" must be quite severe. Just about the entire animation of the battle sequences of the last few episodes (and every shorter battle sequence shown previously) was super crappy CGI, so I wonder what could be worse than that..

Bear in mind that this anime was produced by Millepensee and directed by Shin Itagaki, i.e. the ones who did the dreadful Berserk 2016 and its (a bit less dreadful) second season. Both studio and director have repeatedly proven that they have no clue how to do proper CGI and yet they keep doing it..

If you mean consistent in its crappiness I fully agree. It doesn't look to me that the 2D sections are poor (they are not great but the animators do not appear to "struggle" with them either). The problem is clearly with the "polished-Berserk-2016-like" CGI sections.

edit: By the way, I looked it up a bit more and it appears that the CGI sections were outsourced to studios exsa and Engi (mostly the former). exsa is a studio that have only done CGI work on a few anime ( https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=15203 ) and Engi is a studio with mostly outsourcing / 2nd key animation / finishing etc record on a lot of anime ( https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/company.php?id=17950 ), bizarrely even both seasons of Beastars, despite having only been founded in 2018. Something went clearly wrong with Kumoko though..

Millepensee does the 2D, the studio who's making the 3D is Exsa.

The problem is not how true it is to the LN, but how good it is as an anime. Especially for people who didn't read the LN. It was very rushed, characters were undeveloped, world-building is lacking, quality of 2D animation is all over the place. So the studio was obviously unprepared for the task, and the decision to adapt 6 (if I remember correctly) volumes of LN into 24 episodes seems to be not optimal at the very least.

To illustrate the last point: first volume alone has 24 chapters, if we include smaller interludes in this number as well. So, going by the natural flow of the LN, where we usually have one bigger chapter for Kumoko and one smaller interlude for other characters, each episode can include one such pair as well. So, for example, the first volume alone could have been done in 12 episodes, or one standard season, in my opinion.

This is a "smarter" (for the lack of other word) story, compared to most others out there. So I feel like it deserve to be treated at least as good as Overlord was, dare I say.

The 5 first LN are adapted (and a few scenes are from LN11, 13 and 14).

I honestly don't mind the animation that much but the 3D was pretty bad the past couple of episodes, but not enough of a deterrent to stop me from watching this show.
