I think sometimes I watch anime that I rate terribly, but I keep watching because it's enjoyable.
It could be an anime with bad animation or whatever, but if it's enjoyable, I'll still watch.

Also some people just never drop anime.

Being a member of the church of completionism requires finishing everything, even crap.
Which is why I'm a sinner because I dropped two anime.

It depends on how bored I am. Also, sometimes I find a sick kind of enjoyment watching series I hate so I can talk about all the reasons why I hate the series... I'm strange, I know.

Not watching shit I dont like life is too short and anime is aplenty

I always finish seasons cause you never know but if I dont like season 1 I will never watch season 2

I have had a least a dozen anime I didnt like the first 3-5 episodes of turn out pretty good so I prefer to finish seasons, I also hate dropping stuff.

I don't want to drop anything so yeah, I watch shit that I don't like if I already started it.
But if it's the sequel or movie of something that I didn't like, then I won't even bother watching it.

I wasted all my time in rewatching to the point of my rewatch total is higher than my overall anime total lmao

If I watch an anime and I don't like it then I won't drop it immediately but I will watch the first season and then leave it, that's because I don't like my list to be polluted with dropped anime I just don't like it.

I use the three-episode rule. If an anime piques my interest in the first three episodes, I have to finish the series no matter what. Sometimes they don't live up to that initial interest so I give a low rating, but I do not allow myself to drop series that I have gone beyond the first three episodes.

But three episodes is the rule for anime with at least around 10 episodes. If it's shorter (which is pretty rare, except in OVAs), I just use 25% of what exists.

That being said, I don't really watch second or third seasons of anime I didn't really enjoy... this usually applies only to the first season. That is except if the second or third seasons were highly recommended to me by somebody, maybe a friend or anime YouTubers. But I don't remember this happening before lol

I certainly won't watch season 2, if I didn't like anime.. What for?.. There is already more anime than I can watch, and plenty of them are enjoyable.. Why waste my time?.. There are better things to enjoy, more enjoyable anime to watch..
Also I can finish the season I'm watching of anime I don't like, if I already watched quite some of the season.. Like if I watched 5 episodes of 12 season anime, or something.. Like to see if it gets better or not..
I won't add to the list dropped shows which I watched only very few episodes - like 2-3, or something.. Maybe in the future I'll pick them up and watch again.. Or maybe I won't.. Either way, no reason to keep them on my list, really..

I only drop anime I consider a 4 or less, even after just one episode.

I've never seen an anime that I considered a 5 after the first or first few episodes getting better at the end. On the other hand, I did see 6s becoming a 7 or very rarely an 8.

I don't see any reason for which 4s could get much better than those 5s, so I drop them.

Well if i don't like to watch it, I might stop halfway and forgetting it, but if i only don't like something in the anime, and still enjoying the series, i'll still continue to finish it.

Generally, no.

The 1s and 2s on my list are anime I had higher expectation on them and was severely disappointed with them upon completion.

If I hate something right at the beginning I'll drop from there.

I did it in the past during my completionist phase.

Now I value more my time, so no. Anything I'm not liking goes to the dropped list and that's all.

I've dropped almost as many anime as I've completed. I don't understand the mindset of the completionist especially the ones who rate every season of Attack on Titan 4/10 and still keep watching.

I have to genuinely get annoyed or frustrated with something in order for me to drop it. Otherwise I'll atleast finish it. But If it has a sequel I wont bother with it really.

Even if I succeed in finishing the season, if I didn't liked it, I won't see season 2, 3, etc. Nowadays if I don't like something, I don't even finish the season, I just throw it to the drop list.
When will Black Clover release new anime?! It has been 3 years already since March 2021...

If the anime's first season is given score below than 6, it's likely for me not to continue. I just stop there. One example from me is High School DxD.

Though, i don't do this all the time. I did finish all Dokuro-chan anime even if i rated the two OVAs 4 and 3 respectively. I felt it was an exception since Dokuro-chan anime has only 6 episodes total.

Sometimes yes
I keep watching because I want to know what I'm talking about.
How would I know how trash Mushoku Tensei is if I had dropped in the beginning?
If you're a fanboy, please don't waste my time.

Yes and no. Sometimes if I'm morbidly curious about how something turn out, I'll keep watching. If I feel like something isn't worth my time anymore, I'll drop it.

- I wanna watch it to the very end since I'm curious or because I've already put time in it

Plus, I did drop Mushoku twice ...just to finish it. I'm too stubborn.

Yes. I always have hope that it will improve enough by the end, sometimes that happens and sometimes it doesn't.

I also don't think you can really give a fair opinion about an anime if you quit before seeing most of it.

If I asked somebody's opinion about an anime, and they told me it was bad after watching only a few episodes, then I am not going to take their opinion seriously.

Joe: "I watched a few episodes of Gintama, it's pretty bad, I think I'm gonna drop it."
Marty: "You cannot say it's bad if you haven't watched it completely!"
Joe: "Ok I watched it completely, I still think it's pretty bad."
Marty: "If you don't like it, then why are you watching it?"

Do you sometimes watch/finish anime you don't like or have you completely given up on that and only watch/finish what you like? If you still do it, what are the reasons?

I (almost) always finish shows that I started watching for two reasons:

1. I had multiple instances where the show actually got better and I ended up enjoying it.
2. I can't say it's truly bad if I only watched a few episodes of it instead of the whole thing.

And a possible third reason: I simply have enough time on my hands to watch anything anyway xD
