THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This feels kinda like a watching a 'let's play' session for a video game. That RPG-style mission got progressively more difficult especially when accounting the snowy weather.

It seems Hakozaki isn't good with the cold conditions. This episode felt more about just surviving. It's also not everyday they get to face off against a one eyed Yeti-like monster in the wild.

The contrast between how this episode ends with everyone "dying" immediately followed by this happy-looking live action ED by Liyuu (ED singer) is kind of hilarious lmao.

I'm guessing next episode that one of the group actually survives and completes the quest, question being how.

Well that was a depressing episode. Due to a sudden blizzard, all of the group had been weakened by hypothermia and Yotsuya fell from a deep hole...they actually died.

So...we're gonna get the reverse sike card to make them magically alive...or because of Yotsuya falling from the cliff, they actually achieved the 5% mark, either way...I'm waiting.

Also good touch for Liyuu (playing in a 3D snowing Japanese backyard) to be shown in the ED instead of the (dead) characters. Also they just promoted a merch, that is something different.

Once again, the Heroes team with another split-up for their own pacings, all individually this time (and farewell to Kahvel as well, too bad her love wasn't rescinded by Yotsuba).

Survival in the blizzard snow is no standard quest continuation task, and as everyone stands in their current classes, it's either life-or-death for their accounting past experiences from the normal world. and having to rely on one another in the Isekai world. It's do-or-die time to move on or get left behind and finish a quest that has no end in sight.

Yotsuya though, faces a real tough challenge having to fight against a Yeti, and the heartless boy to leave a dead monster with its children. But that's the way of pushing through survival. Is he really dead, along with everyone else?

How ironic though that the ED is live-action by Liyuu the singer herself. Obviously it would be merch promo time.

The best part of the ep was the contrast between people dying and Liyuu’s uptempo ed/snowball fight at the end Lmaoo.

Pretty depressing episode overall. Wonder how they’re gonna bounce back from this.

Well, Take away is that buy some fucking merch because a singer from Hokkaido said it.

There isn't anything that I like or dislike in this ep, but there was a change in pacing like "listen, there is a clam before the storm."

But, With 2 ep remaining, I have to say that it would be a DEAD cliffhanger, and that would be going nowhere.

Since this is 3D virtual, depth also counted as distance too, so when Yotsuya fall into the pit, he also increase map coverage at the same time.

But I thought he's gonna make a fur cloth out of that monster's skin, which maybe too traumatize for that baby monsters, but this is just a virtual game after all.

Talk about a harsh episode. Braving the elements of that horrible blizzard trying to get that five percent of the map discovered. The squad not having an easy time at all. A bittersweet goodbye to Kavhel but I hope we'll see her again. Everyone had some soul searching this episode as they were going through the snow. Shindou thinking about how she wants to be useful and accomplish things, Hakozaki thinking how she is glad to be able to help people in this world unlike the real world, Yuka about how she just wants a hot guy not a damned blizzard, and Yotsuya about how he's gotta keep going no matter what. Thinking about keeping anyone stronger than him alive since life isn't equal but it is fair. The strong should survive in his mind. Made me sad when he didn't show remorse for killing that monster after seeing it's babies crying over their momma but I suppose it is all virtual or something like that, still hurt my heart. Shindou walking in a circle was awful to see, coming right back worked to that statue head in the snow that she passed earlier. I wonder how they're gonna get out of this especially now with Yotsuya dead and the others on the brink.

Lmao. What a prank climate. Suddenly their way appeared a blizzard when they needed their sweet peace time to accomplished the mission. But heck, everything were not gonna be an easy quest for them to be solved. Even if they just need to be walked around freely at 0,04% left area, its still pretty hard for them to accomplished together. Obviously, those 'unique' blizzard really annoying, then another monster attacked Yotsuya too, out of nowhere. So, yeah, rest in peace there, all of you. You really need to take a break after such a long trips you had.

And to close those wtf blizzard moment, the ed sequence, and its singer, appeared to sell their items directly. Such a pretty clever way to make me smile all of sudden ....

I agree, making a fur would be the best choice in that situation. He even has the skills of a cook, it would’ve been really easy for him to get the monster’s skin. He could’ve get in to the monster’s body and stay there as well. That would keep him warm for a long time(I got this idea from Golden Kamuy lol).

Well, this was quite interesting. If Hakozaki and Tokitate were better characters their monologues would have been more depressing, but it turn out something boring.

While Shindou and Yuusuke had better monologues.

The best part was the end, the kids of the looking "yeti" monster crying and what Yuusuke said abaut them and the virtual world was interesting. Lets see how they can survive.

Woaw, didn't expect that seemingly "easy" remaining part of the quest to finish those 5% would be this difficult... wow. And who would've thought they would get into the winter terrain, or how did they actually got there? Is it the same place but the seasons drastically changed, since... well game master can just alter the world's conditions however he likes, or did they get into the winter territory?

Really liked seeing everyone's resolve. Hakozaki not wanting to give up, but eventually succumbing to the cold temperature, her body just couldn't handle it. I liked her resolve the most, since it's most difficult for her. Also appreciate seeing a bit more into her past.
Then seeing Shindou's flashback how she first got here. I can really connect the dots with her character, everything makes sense, why she feels vulnerable and asked Yotsuya for help, why she needs her friends and why is she so
uncomfortable and anxious by herself.
All in all, I liked seeing them struggle walking in the snow and learning more about them, if anything, I really appreciate this anime that it really shows what their characters are about, makes it so easy to understand them. And, I don't think anyone will interpret or understand characters in the wrong way now.

Liked the Yeti scene a LOT, perhaps my favorite one of the entire arc. Seeing little yetis stand by their fathers corpse as Yotsuya is slowly walking away with deeply sad musing playing in the background was really powerful. Though, I really wish he'd take them with him, but I understand why he didn't. "All lives are fair, but not all are equal" and he will only save people he wants to save.

Damn he even fell in the end... kinda understandable that it'd happen, these missteps are infamous during this kind of weather. Given that everyone died, how are they gonna get out of this situation? It really gets interesting now, same interest I had when the troll attacked them and he was a farmer. "How is he gonna get out of this now?"

This different ED tho lol, I appreciate it... Is it already snowing in Japan?

The mission that seemed easy is being difficult due to the climate, and with everyone weakened as it will be that they managed to finish it.

Damn, that was a crazy ending. So as someone who read the manga, I somewhat thought I knew what was gonna happen. Turns out, it was way different from the manga. They were all walking in the snow, Shindo, Hako, and Yuka all died one by one. Yotsuya being the only survivor I expected him to beat the snow golom, then just complete the rest of the map, but then he slipped and fell into a cave. This cliffhanger has made me suprisingly, more excited for this next friday than Jujustu kaisen, Wandering witch, and Tonikawa. I really hope they keep the next episode reasonable, and not do something completely stupid. That being said, I enjoyed this episode very much and it might be my favorite episode so far for this anime.
I gave up on character of the week since it takes too much thinking. I'll just change my forum pfp to whoever I want every week lol.

this episode actually makes me disappointed. because they pulled a bad sign of when anime 100% not going to get a second season at all.
1. changing the order of scene, 2. skipping content, 3. inserting new event not in source material all in one episode
i mean, past episodes all adapted faithfully from the original manga
i know the director must want to cut cost so they can end this before new party member show up (by padding etc), but still...

I didn't expect it to drag on that long. Still ... the episode was nice. But I guess with that pacing we won't get to see much after the quest ends. (Next quest and them getting back to the real world.)

But the opening/ending already hinted at this I think. And the chars listed. If they always get another char added to the group they would have shown one more char.

So at least 1 more episode for this quest. Then some ending episode or preparation for further seasons.

I am guessing the distance he fell from was enough to complete the quest, what did Shindou see though I am very intrigued with that. And that jacket at ED actually looks pretty dope.

This doesn't make sense. Before they complete the deliver quest, they say they have about 1 day left. All the surroundings are desert and don't even cold at night time.

Just few hour later, the desert is gone and become snow land. This is stupid as far as I see.

Also, there were some transportation vehicle, why don't they just use that?

And one of them can use 'fire' which can warm themselves up, why they also don;t use that?

This is seriously a ver much underrated anime this season... A rating of 6.2..? Meh...
It deserves a better rating, more over it deserves a much better studio.. I think the story is deeper that any average isekai anime with moral lessons in it.. Well at least it has the third song ED song of this Fall (for me at least)
Good way to end the depressing episode tho, by appearing the cute Liyuu at the end credit song

You forgot that the soldier got info that the climate of the area is "unique", and it really happened.. You also forgot that the mage is a low level mage that only can make a candle level fire.. How you use that to warm up ur body...

I think what Yuka saw is that SAME head statue, which she had passed a few times already, which means, she hasn't got anywhere at all despite walking over and over, and that's what depressed her,, you can see when the camera view zooming out from her, there are many of her foot steps around the statue..

They really try to drag this 4th quest into 12 eps huh. I though last eps is already much enough of anime original filler, but no, this eps is also much longer than the manga. Not a bad decision imo, but not good either. I just hope the rl scene with
will be animated in this season. That's one of my fav moments from the entire series.

Also, I don't think
will be animated. Sadly, which also one of my fav moments. Not only because the romance but also the life lesson Yotsuya had there

And I think this season will end with chapter 12 when game master ask Yotsuya,
"Where is your justice?"
That'll be good ending for the season at least

1. That's the weather anomaly they mentioned last eps I guess. And a bunch of weather anomaly in our world is also don't make sense actually. That's why it called anomaly

2. They don't have money for vehicle, Kahabel also doesn't have an authority to give a "horse" to them, and they also only had 4(?), which also needed to get them back to their hometown. Stealing will be bothersome considering the penalty of attacking human. And they already calculate the distance before and it's possible or even easy to complete the quest just by walking, but they didn't expect about the weather abnormality.

3. She can only made a candle level of heat, not even a fire. And using that will consume her mana which also consume her stamina. She could use her magic to warm herself, but she'll not able to walk that far if she done that.

Although I did say I liked this episode, I do agree with you. It most likely wont get another season, I just hope the next episode doesn't have some trash reason on why the complete the quest. Episode 9 was also something not in the manga. About them wanting to end it before the new member shows up, they could've easily made more stuff like episode 9 and kinda have the characters just interact with each other for the next 3 episodes. That way they could've ended season 1 with Kahvel saying farewell to Yostuya, and the beginning of season 2 start with them in the snow.

That girl is still obsessing over dating sims, I see. When out on a real adventure, for a long time now.

When walking through an unknown continent full of monsters and enemies it is best to split up. Two by two? Oh, no. Each should be alone. Someone who has ever been in battle, or in any dangerous situation, might tell you that you should at least move in pairs, but never mind.

And if all of you die at the same time, because you can't help each other revive, then you are dead permanently. But hey, you cover ground quicker.

It's on the same level as "deliver the goods". But we won't tell you what the goods are or even give you a hint. In fact, it's not goods at all. In fact, it's the heads of people you haven't met yet. Who you might not meet. Who you might not want to kill.

But we're betting that you kill them and then come up with the totally normal idea of cutting off their heads and bringing them with you.

I'll stop watching here. I should have stopped long ago, but I was hoping it would get better.

This episode was dragged out as hell.

But I wonder what's going to happen to them. Looks like the final 2 episodes are going to revolve around how they are going to make it through this quest or whatever.

Interesting ed to say anything "good" about this episode.

I already came this far watching the series, might as well finish this garbage though. Should've stopped a while back, but I really hoped it was going to get better.
