I wouldn't even be opposed to the idea that avatar could be on my anime list Cartoon and manga are usually very different from each other so it makes sense to seperate them to keep things easier. But if something is similar enough I wouldn't see a reason to exclude it just because it doesn't fit the technical definition. Of course it would be difficult to determine what is close enough |

| The original is a very good kids show one of the better examples in Western animation. It would get a 9 out of me. Don't bother with Korra. Zeroflamez said: Yeah watch it. | I believe it is the best animated to show to have ever been made by the West, and can consider it among the best shows as well. If you love a strict plot ( no deviations such as side arcs or useless arcs :- everything co-relates), great action and have a blast, JUST WATCH IT. It is the literal embodiment of how to write and depict a story with the least time of waste, it always hits the point. Each episode has its own importance and lesson, making it enjoyable every single moment. Hope you feel the show already, and just try it; you might get hooked. |

| Yes, you should watch it. It's starts kind of childish and simple but gets way more complex and more epic with time. Don't trust those Korra haters - yes, it ends being meh, because the last 3 seasons were made in a rush...but the first season is pretty great. An interesting aftermath of the events in ATLA. Check it out and maybe stop there. |
| tl:dr just yes. I watched a few years back when I was still getting into anime properly and really enjoyed watching Last Airbender and Korra. Give them a go, you'll know after a few episodes whether the story, characters, animation style etc clicks with you. |

| no it is not like anime at all, there's no blood or anything, also no fanservice/bath scenes or beach episodes, no dirty jokes, just a boring show overall that people are brainwashed into thinking it's good. plus you have to suffer through horrible english voice acting which is always inferior to japanese voice acting. (minus a few exceptions im sure, but you get the point). |

| Definitely give it a watch. I’ve seen the entire series like 3 times and fall in love all over again every time I watch it. Great story, cool characters, fun action, and a sweet ending; it’s a western anime-ish series done right! I’ve never really thought about it but Avatar: TLA is probably one of the reasons I eventually got into anime even though I think the first time I watched the series was over a decade ago. :) |

| It's a great show and I'm not only saying this out of childhood nostalgia. Memorable characters, awesome choreography, vast lore, and an engaging world. One of my favorite western animation hands down. Book One was kinda slow, though the show really picks up starting Book Two. On the other hand, I didn't particularly care for Legend of Korra despite liking the protagonist. It's still better than the majority of Nickelodeon's lineup, though. |

| It's a well rounded show. Every character is important and has their own motivations/struggles going on throughout the journey. Fights are pretty decent. Nothing really to complain about with the show. It's just solid all-around. Legend of Korra is the opposite of well rounded. It's a roller coaster. It's peak and highs blow ATLA out of the water. There are some truly amazing parts and aspects of the show. Some arcs in Korra are pure masterpieces. The fights and animation are also much better in Korra. Show is also much more dark and with more depth. Unfortunately the weak aspects of the legend of Korra are much more apparent and troublesome. Regardless, I like Legend of Korra better, but both are good and recommended watch. |

| As someone who grew up watching ATLA. Yes, 100% yes. The characters are funny, relatable, and charming and the actual stories themselves are both heartwarming and serious. Really a show that I cannot believe a channel like Nickelodeon produced (but am glad they did)! As for Korra, imo it's still pretty good, just not as good as ATLA (for me the awkward forced romance spoiled a couple of moments). Season 3 is what I believe to be the pinnacle of that show. |
