History is seriously tormented with the 1st, that's according to the 3 lieutenants POV, more with Rekka.

Like look I understand HOW MUCH Tamaki is a pseudo-pervert attraction device, but having that fanservice is just uncalled for. Even in the manga I already find it weird, so this is just...yea...

And further on, the real perpetrators finally show up, the "Evangelists". This doesn't look like a problem much for now, but it's clear seeing the scenarios now that the 1st and 8th are working together to get more info out of Rekka and the world of the 2nd Sun.

Fight was good as it gets for the typical shounen. Resolve was...Tamaki joining the 8th...??? Arthur Excalibur was non-existent for the entire episode, which is good or bad depending on your tastes.

The end content was cut between Chapter 31 and 32, I'd swear that if this content was relevant they will bring it back, otherwise it's pointless.

Hum but what Stain was denouncing was not the manner of beings of the hero, it was their motivation. He was calling them out for their selfishness and basically the whole system that pushed people to become heroes for selfish reasons instead of heroic drive. Here in Fire force, there are many people like that, Hibana, or the rookie from the 5th (he said he was a firefighter for recognition). Shinra doesnt care about that.

One of the main themes of the series is the power of self-delusion. Basically the point is that if Shinra believes he will be a hero and doesnt give up on, he will eventually embody his ideals and become an genuive one. You're use of the word "fantasy" is just on point, it's precisely the point.
It's all about motivations and beliefs that serve as drive for your lifestyle.
Interestingly enough Shinra is aware that he is not a hero yet, which reinforces that he does have heroic standards but hasnt reached them yet.

Arthur is tied with this theme as well but you'll see later.

And of every hero he's met, he's only respect two. Somehow I doubt such a generic character as Shinra would be the third.

But that's precisely because Izuku is a generic hero (selfless, brave when needed, ) that Stain respects him... he also approved of Todoroki just because he went and saved Midoriya with no other motivatiln than saving.
Is Shinra selfless and brave as well?... I would think so... wouldnt you?

What an episode! And i've seen already here some great print screens xD

I feel really bad for Tamaki, but better that it happened now before it was too late.
This whole episode feels like a masterpiece in terms of artwork and fighting scenes, everything was so spectacular (besides the random ecchi scene were Shinra landed on...you know), and Tamaki was so cutueeeee! I'm so glad she's a part of the team now xD

Badass!

Shipping incoming xD

And what the hell happened with Arthur?

Man, what kind of Tamaki fanservice this was.

<IMG>

In the manga Tamaki's fansrivice was way better.
LOL yeah. The anime made her look like some...prisoner? Like ripped up clothing. She looks like something from a weird ass hentai which is more sexual than what the manga looks like (based on your photo)

Fuck Tamaki and no i'll not drop it just because of that.
There's still some good enough things in this anime to make me still watch it.

I'm intrigued at the new ideology that's being presented. This anime does seem to be primarily a psychoanalysis, which is refreshing.

Excited for the next episode, this series is growing on me.

At first I thought this series was gonna go a bit off, last episode and this episode changed my opinion and I can't wait to see more! The fight in my opinion was really good, the fanservice was a bit annoying and a disruption to the fight. But I found it cool to finally see how Tamaki has joined Special Fire Force Company 8 (considering she seemed important in the OP) and I really want to know if where Arthur is is a joke or legit because he is just in the middle of nowhere lmao

If the anime had Rekka and the 1st captain to fight, im sure he would have put up a decent enough fight but noooo. the colossal punches straight to the face left Shinra completely unphased and uninjured - 0stakes. T
he show would have got interesting and made sense if Rekka got the bug into Shinra which resulted in Shinras power up. As of now, I cant fathom how the 1sts top fleet got demolished by an absolute novice.

Burns would had bodied rekka without even trying man even karim could beat rekka.

Rekka was not skilledful he only had one skill and spammed it over and over again
perhaps if he had a skill where he could send his fire punch from a range he would had been more dangerous and do more damage but despite rekka been more battle experienced he was pretty unskilled.

Shinra played smart in this fight and used the building walls around to gain more modility plus with his ability to fly over he already had an advantage over rekka that he had to be near him to deliver that punch.

As for damages, i think shinra got some lesser damage like some lesser skin lvl damage if you will yes nothing super serious yet like broken ribs or something moderate or heavy lvl of damage.

You basically justified it with your own story in your head. The anime should establish this not your imagination which is my issue. Rekka was part of the 1sts 'Shield/protector' team. Which means like you said hes battle experienced and is trusted enough by the 1st to perform well, battle tested experience should beat a complete novice which is what they stated when Shinra first fought his female supervisor at the 8th team. Shinra keeps losing to her and puts up no fight against her. So does that mean shes equal to the 1st captain in ability? There's no way to tell and you have to justify it using your imagination.

This makes the steaks/ any pressure in a battle just a flashy show rather than anything tense. And that still brings up my point, how did Rekka rocket punch Shinras skull against the concrete floor and move uninjured and completely unaffected.

I'm not looking for an answer, im just stating the criticisms I have which make it enjoyable for me.

I'm just trying imagine how sadistically Stain would kill Shinra considering how hollow his idea of a hero is and how often and how he screams about heroes. I can only imagine how much Stain would loathe him.

how hollow? he basically want to be a hero because of his dead mom and baby brother. unlike certain someone who want to be a hero because of fame and cry when he could not.
Plus, i dont get why people think stain is a good anti-hero. he suck, he may not be called villain, but he still a criminal who attack any hero including the innocent and children. he has an idea of attacking a hero because they were egotistic, fame hungry, corrupt, unheroic, and selfish, yet he attack those who were not in this categorize anyway.

It's not a headcanon opinion made from my imagination man.
I am reading the manga and i am far far away in the story and have seen more glimpses of captain burns power to be able to came up into a conclusion and when i say that rekka had no change against him i mean it, not even if rekka had teamed up with that woman who fired the flame arrows and killed rekka would both had any chance to beat captain burns the dude power is no joke

You forgot that he want's to be a symbol of hope against the flames because h literally said he wants to solve the mystery of the flames and make sure something like this won't happen again so it's not like he is fighting selfish for his bro and mom but he wants to find what's going on and make sure things that happened to him will never happen to anyone.

How can you guys forget about this? It's not like this was an unimportant part of his hero ideals i would say it was a quite important part you forgot to mention here and mostly the part with the most weight from his mission.

I never understand why people think that his hero ideals are lackluster is midorya better in terms of ideals than shinra?

I agree with you. While Deku is one of my favourite shonen protagonists and I don't really like Shinra, I think his convictions and ideals of what a hero is are way more righteous than Deku's initial motivations to become a hero. If only the show developed Shinra's character a bit more, and stopped making him invent those weird hero names like "The-Guy-Who-Will-Stop-You Man". Its getting kind of annoying.

WOW! It was a great episode, which I say great, it was more than that, it was epic! If there is something that this anime should be very proud of, it is their animation and their great work in the action scenes 👌. I was very excited to see Shinra fight side by side against the lieutenant, he knows how to take advantage of the battlefield and is aware of what he can do. It was amazing.
I wished so much for Rekka to suffer for his actions, but I was not expecting such a sudden death, I was shocked. Apparently, "The Evangelist" has eyes everywhere, and very strong members, have a really crazy goal.
The mission, it was a success, the eighth will acquire a lot of valuable information, and for the moment, it acquired a new member, Tamaki and his perverted bad luck, hahaha.
Anyway, it was exciting, at least, for me. I hope you continue with this good rhythm.

Ps: Poor Karim, it seems, shed tears for his friend about photography when they were young, it must have been hard to know the truth after so many years working together. I'm glad he wasn't the culprit, now he has become an ally for the Eighth.

If in the final scene, Arthur had said "I'm coming for you, Rekka", I would have died of laughter 😂.

Fanservice does not make a show inherently bad, if it did no one would watch ecchi. Hell, I'll argue that fanservice during a fight scene doesn't have to hurt the tone of the fight and can even add to it. (Kill La Kill is just one example of this) This show's problem is that it uses comedic fanservice during an intense and emotional fight and it ruins the tone and takes you out of the moment just for a cheap gag. I can understand that some people might be okay with this but for me at least, the second you stop respecting the tone of a scene just to try getting peoples dicks hard is when I lose all hope that a show is going to be any good.

I think you're missing what im trying to say. I know the 1st is OP, my issue is with the storytelling. There's no explanation as to why Shinra could beat Rekka, or anyone. It just shows hero+bad guy= hero wins which isn't a good enough justification. Maybe im expecting too much from this show.

You're free to look all you want, I just call it like i see it. If you disagree with the complaints about fan service (the complaints are generally not about the fan service per se, but about how poorly it is used and it's disruptive effect on fight scenes) that's fine.

It'd be refreshing though if you could explain your own view or atleast give something more to the debate than "if you dont like fanservice GTFO".

You do realize there are a lot of anime that don't have cheap fanservice and can have a compelling story, right?

Or even an anime with a fair amount of fanservice but at least it's not thrown in serious scenes for comedic relief. There are so many shows worth a 8/10 or higher that have more fanservice than Fire Force but don't pace it poorly like this show.

The fan service during the fight between Shinra and Rekka was so unnecessary, I’m so over it.

Shinra and Rekka started to fight, during it Rekka explained him that Shinra has a pure flame (Adolla Burst), something that he and the Evangelist were looking for, finally Shinra surpassed him, so Rekka was igniting a self-consumption ability, but Karim freezed him completely, Foein arrived too. Suddenly, a fire arrow murdered Rekka, two people dressed in white are attacking them, another arrow targeted Karim, but Foei lost his arm saving him, Shinra produced smoke to get lost and a combination between Tamaki and Karim abilities pointed the enemy position, they withdrew. Shinra returned to his force, Arthur is missing, and Tamaki temporary joined 8th company.

That fan service is unnecessary, unfortunately, it comes from the manga. Animation had it flows this episode, Tamaki memories and some scenes were just under standard. The fight between Shinra and Rekka was ok, someone could think that Rekka’s experience could take him much farther, but ok, maybe Shinra is especial. The reaction to the attack was cool. So, Arthur is not lost. Not Rekka, but Evangelist could be the one behing Shinra and Iris fire.

A lot of intel was dropped on us in this episode. I wonder if the Joker IS the Evangelist, or is he just one of their commanders. Speaking of them, those two snipers gave off some strong Templar (From the Assassin's Creed franchise) vibes, them and this obscure entity Sol that both sides seem to be worshiping is going to be a mind-boggling twist I can tell.
The opening song kind of gave off Maki as being a part of the 8'th. Speaking of her, I just hate that, I really do, when there is a decent build-up, the scenario at hand is on the serious side, full of risk and then the common Ecchi trope kicks in like dude, can you not? I stopped being funny a long time ago, we get it, but if you're distracting that kind of moment by pulling off the same bad joke, you're kind of shitting on weak and dazzling writing that could have been miles better. For that, I dislike her as a character. But I guess she's a welcomed addition to the harem.
I'm very curious about the last shot of the episode with Arthur walking down a foggy desert, it's either some rushed up twist or a set up for the next arc, also, I'm half expecting Shinra's brother to be with this Evangelistic side.

A oddly placed fanservice scene in a fight? 🤦‍♂️ The annoying bad fanservice is ruining the show. It needs to stop.

The fight was pretty good despite that the fanservice in the middle ruined the mood. Rekka died? Well, the only interesting character introduced in this arc who might have helped to develop Tamaki in future arcs is dead! What a bad decision the author made.
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

A superb turn of events for Rekka. And he certainly got rekked.

Shinra came in clutch and whooped Rekka's ass.
Saving Tamaki and the children along the way.

That Tamaki fan-service through me off but I like it. She looks like a snack.

I Like the world they're building and the characters but is fanservice right in the middle of a big fight really necessary? Fanservice is ok just not in the middle of an important fight scene.

I also hope the entire show is not just Shinra beating up all the bad guys. I already had a hard time accepting him beating princess Hibana a captain and now this too? I thought Rekka was supposed to be a powerful lieutenant?

Oh well, the stereotypical-psychopath has been taken out—didn't see that coming! Jokes aside, it was a nice episode.

This episode and the one before it convinced me to drop the show. Seemed like a lot of gratuitous violence toward children and women as shock value, while the revelation that a character we know little about is one of the bad guys was not as surprising as they seemed to be going for because we haven't gotten to know him.

And then there's the fanservice. I have watched One Piece for 11 years. I don't mind fan service... When it's used appropriately. There is a time and a place and stopping a fight scene just to have multiple breast faceplants and a character's clothes strategically removed to be as revealing as possible ain't it, chief. Plus this happens at awkward, poorly timed movements constantly, in every episode. It's starting to feel more like a softcore hentai. I wanted to like this show because of the animation, character design and interesting concept but... nah.

Watch Promare instead if you want fiery action.
