| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- First episode is up on Amazon Japan. It has an intense OP song and I love the art style of the setting. The opening minutes of the action on the ship is also very thrilling. In particular, we are introduced to how cruel the world their world can be with the slavery and survival. I'm prepared for the rest of this adventure to be fleshed out with the amount of episodes. ED theme song by Aimer is also fantastic imo. |

I'm so happy to finally see one of my favorite seinen manga getting adapted properly with a lot of love and passion. The voice acting was excellent and I enjoyed the artistic direction. This is going to be great, to all the anime only people, make sure you avoid manga spoilers or just read the manga. |

| I couldn’t help but watch the raw version and I’m up for rewatching this with English subs anytime! Op is intense and the visuals solid but the music just keeps getting more and more edgy as it goes on, to be frankly honest. ED, on the other hand, is freakin’ glorious! I know I’m always biased when Aimer is around but this is seriously lit! Some stunning visuals for it to boot, amazing stuff! We got a short glimpse of the Soundtracks too in this first episode and it totally delivered! And right off the bat we’re thrown into a bloody battle after Thors’ little daydreaming! Got to say though, among all the versions of the Twin Engine signatures, this is definitely the best lol. Moving on, some Brutal slaughtering there from Thors. A lucky save there, also. A lot of CGI use during the whole fight scene and it sometimes stood out but not too jarring imo. His friend, from the PVs and Trailers, definitely seems to be sketchy on first look xD but I’m looking forward to seeing just how he fares in the demise of the great Thors. Present-time and things look fairly peaceful but it seems like they’ve made some formidable enemies now in the present. Dat chain wielder snapping his own men there was horrifying and his disregard for slaves aggravating but a job well done to show some of the more harsher bits of the world. I couldn’t catch everything from that talkative Ojii-san but he’s definitely gone through a lot! Seeing how the numbers diminished from a squadron to a single person was seriously heavy. He’s gotten to see Vinland and even went on to make some friends there too so I suppose it wasn’t all for naught at the very least. On another note, Thorfinn’s sister seems to be a very lively person but her wailing over the dead slave was very unsettling. Maybe I failed to catch the whole thing exactly so I’ll just leave it for later. Cliffhanger with the shot of Thors weapons suggests things are definitely going to start getting dark real soon so can’t wait to see how that goes! Patiently waiting and lucking about these whereabouts for the past year or so, so I had high hopes to begin with and I’m glad to say I haven’t been disappointed one bit yet. 5/5 introductory episode, good that we got a slightly longer episode for this too! Edit: Listening to the Op a numerous times and it’s really grown on me. Captures the heavy emotions so brilliantly and the transitions between the phases is glorious and the middle phase is absolutely stunning! Edgy final bits still but it’s still amazing! I don’t really know how to explain it but it feels like going through Thorfinn’s growth or something of the sort. The ED does the same too but this is more like the internal aggressive feelings, I suppose. God bless anyone who gets me. |

| Vinland Saga has been one of my favorite manga ever since I started reading it oh so many years ago. So I was never, ever in any doubt that I was gonna enjoy the anime adaptation unless they dropped the ball and started messing around with the awesome story. So far I have not been dissapointed. They are respecting the story and the voice actors are very adequate for the roles they have to play. The art is very similar to that of the manga. And while obviously this show doesn't have the budget for animation on part with the big shounen manga, it's adequate. Don't mess it up Wit Studio, please don't mess it up! |

By the way, the official release is slated for today (7th June Pacific Standard Time) so the three episodes will most likely come out tonight. And then probably Amazon will go on to sub these. AoT uses a lot of CGI, the colossal titan for example, plus the environments in AoT are mainly 3D to help animated the ODM gear, and when using shots from a birds eye view characters tend to be CGI also, you may just not notice it. |

One episode, that came out yesterday, was an early release and it’ll be getting the official release later today with three episodes, as per the information given by the Studio themselves earlier. |

| Best contender for AOTY (for me at least) is finally here! That OP kinda made me laugh tbh but loved the ED. The CGI looked pretty good during the fight scenes. Little Thorfinn is adorable and Ylva is hilarious and a hottie. Loved all the scenes with Thors and Leif. RIP for the poor slave but at least he died free and peacefully thanks to Thors. Cannot wait to see the other two episodes. Great job from Wit Studio in every single regard. |
