What anime do you think has the best visual quality?

Now you could be thinking, what do I mean by visual quality? What I mean is that what anime looks the most visually pleasing? Not only just taking animation into account, maybe it has stunning, realistic background art, or had an art style that was unique and stood out to you, or had lots of crazy, digital effects that just looks simply amazing. I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I'd honestly say One Room, it actually looks very pleasing. The only thing though it kinda has that sort of eerie feeling because there's literally only 1 character present in the entirety of it, it kinda feels like there's no one else in the world so to speak

Other than that proper shows would be Violet Evergarden, shoutout to AntiMagic Academy

Most appealing alcohol though has to go to Tatami Galaxy/Night is Short

My top 10 anime with the best visuals would be these:
1.) Violet Evergarden (hands down the most visually pleasing anime, and no objection here)
2.) Kimi no na Wa (better visuals than Koe no Katacchi, but latter has the better story)
3.) Monogatari Series (especially Bakemonogatari and Owarimonogatari)
4.) Kara no Kyoukai (7>5>2>the rest)
5.) Hyouka
6.) Kyoukai no Kanata (another proof of how KyoAni makes eyegasmic series)
7.) Koe no Katachi
8.) Kotonoha no Niwa (Makoto Shinkai movies tend to have great visuals as well)
9.) Nagi no Asukara
10.) Houseki no Kuni

Honorable mentions (in no order) for me:
K-Project
Hibike Euphonium Series
Fate (Heaven's Wheel 2>UBW>Zero)
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko
Ancient Magus' Bride
Sora yori mo Toi Basho
Your Lie in April
Death Parade
Made in Abyss
Madoka Magica

I agree with many here, Violet Evergarden was gorgeously animated... most of KyoAni's recent works are good examples of high quality animation.

Studio Ghibli movies like Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited away are also incredible.

Honorable mentions for Makoto Shinkai movies too.

I exactly don't know what it is but the details, the realistic-smooth movements, the scenery and the angles they use to make every scene look outstandingly beautiful... all that make those works candy for the eyes.

It's already been said several times, but Violet Evergarden is definitely the most visually pleasing anime. I honestly can't think of any other anime that is even half as beautiful to look at.

Just off the top of my head:

Tatami Galaxy
Any recent Ufotable Typemoon works
LWA has some breathtaking scenes
Mob Psycho season 1 and season 2 were amazing
Apocrypha was really inconsistent in literally every way, but the Karna vs Sieg fight was a piece of art I'll probably never forget
Kimi no na Wa's animation is very strong all together
No Game No Life is really beautiful
Nagi no Asukara is absolutely stunning

I would say, (without counting movies and ufotable productions), probably No Game No Life and Nagi no Asu kara.

Those 2 are pretty pleasing.

Also shotout to the recent Alicization adaptation, holy shit those were sick animations and visuals, kinda ufotable level.

I'm a big fan of bold colour schemes and weird ways to use them, so taking that into account....

1) Bakemonogatari

2) The Eccentric Family (especially the night scenes)

3) Gankutsuou (for a really interesting aesthetic I haven't really seen anywhere else)

Also, not an anime, but honourable mention to the later parts of JoJo's for being just so darned beautiful

This is a toughie, Kizumonogatari was the first that came to mind. I really love its style!

Though it could probably change at any day, like to Mushishi, Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel, A Silent Voice, The Wind Rises, Mob Psycho 100 S2 and the list goes on and on xD

First place: basically any KyoAni stuff. They have a way of giving life to their shows. It's also top notch technically speaking.
Many people here consider Violet Evergarden as their best, but personally, I prefer Sound Euphonium for the highly-detailed animation of the instruments.

In second place: basically any Ufotable stuff. Gotta love those action scenes!
However, they don't get the first place imo because their non-action scenes are quite still. I hated their UBW version because of that (too much dialogues where the characters stand in front of each other in an unnatural way).

Then there's Pokemon XY. The best ratio between quality and quantity of animation, as it has a lot of fights and most of them are well done.

Finally, there's Death Note. It's gotten old so it's less pleasant to the eyes now... but it was still revolutionary for its time and is still among the best.
Everything changes. Even the happy and funny things eventually disappear. How can I still enjoy this place then?

I can't really answer that question if you want me to take every aspect into account. Some of my favorite background art ever is from stuff like Akage no Anne or Ie Naki Ko which have decent animation, but definitely not comparable to the best animated anime. My favorite designs are from other shows, and the best animation I've seen from other ones still.

But one thing you can't go very wrong with is Akira. Great designs, great artstyle, mechanical designs and background details, fantastic animation. Definitely top tier in every regard. Similar things can be said about Redline or a lot of other movies tho, for example the Ghibli ones-
I probably regret this post by now.

People always complain about dumb topics that return often. This and it's manga equivalent is one of my TOP dumb topics. There is no such thing as anime with the best visuals. There are many different kind of stories which requires many different approach to artwork and animation which are equally good on a fundamentally different way.
