| It wasn't made in Japan, so it's not considered an anime by the western definition of the term. Then again, MAL has listings for some Chinese and Korean cartoons, which I never understood. |

| It's an American animated series, and while it's style is inspired by Japanese animation, it doesn't use the same type. Whereas Chinese or South Korean "animes" like King's Avatar do, hence being on MAL. But if we're saying to hell with it anyway, give me Samurai Jack. |

| RWBY is a more compelling case than Avatar....just saying. Personally these arguments are silly though. The idea that anime must be done in Japan to be anime is frankly an antiquated idea that never made much sense to begin with. |
