Does it bother you if you can see a character eye through their hair?

If you can see like the whole eye like in your picture, then it does.
But if it's just the eyebrows, it doesn't.

Yes it doesn't look good. Almost as bad as the noodle bodies found in CLAMPs character designs (particularly found in Code Geass)

Not at all, it is a characteristic feature. If they do not have eyes, they are mysterious. If their eyes covered by their hair, they are kawaii, or cool!

Is it the mouths that bother you? I myself personally don't see what is wrong, but I could be blind. Wait I do notice it. Is that better in movement though?

Now to add to the actual thread. Personally, if it is something subtle and barely noticeable I could care less, but if it is like this picture here than personally yeah I find it very distracting.

try covering ritsu's big mouth with your thumb and you can see how horrible it is same with mugi but at least it's less noticeable

I did edit and say I noticed it :P Granted yeah it definitely isn't a good thing. Can't tell if it is an error or a style choice. If it is a style thing then so be it everyone has different tastes. And if it is an error, well people are indeed human.

I totally agree. From time to time it's fine. I won't notice it but that image was one of a kind

I think it was more popular in older animation, and it was done to make the faces more expressive. Maybe they thought it was a genius idea to combine cool hairstyle without loosing the complete facial expression. But yeah, it bothers me.

Partial doesn't bother me at all (I color like this myself lol) but if it's the WHOLE other side of the hair like in OP's example....it looks odd. XD

I say if it's covering more than about 33.33% of the eye it looks odd. Like a little bit is ok, but when you do something that's covering their entire eye or even basically covering.

It does bother me a little, when you can see an outline of their eye through their hair, but the image OP linked? That's just bad animation

If it's just one scene or just eyebrows then it's okay but if a character always looks like it with a whole eye under hair then it's really weird and annoying.
I'm watching anime since 2012. I also play games, sometimes.

Don't bother me if you want to 'become friends' or things like that.
It's tiresome. I know you just want to collect some meaningless numbers.

Finally someone asked this question! YES! It bothers me quite a bit! Every time I see it, I go 'ugh' inside, but there is nothing to be done, so I trained myself to ignore it for the most part, but sometimes it still ruins the experience.

It bothers me to no end.

I'm fine with eye brows sometime going through or the side of a character's spectacles being invisible. But seeing an eye through the hair is annoying, especially so in the image you sent (which I believe is from Seiken Tsukai no World Break).
I'm not a lolicon, you're just projecting your tendency to lewd 2D characters.

Been a long time since I've been here, I'll continue expressing myself freely and believe everyone should too.

typically I'm ok with it so long as it's only a little bit of hair covering it so you can still see it, the image you just posted looks godawful though

Yes it does bother me, it's freaky. I'd get it if the eye was supposed to be showing through the hair, but it usually isn't animated like that.

Yes, quite a bit. What's the point of having the hair in front of the eye if you can see it anyway. It's just stupid.

It usually doesn't bother me too much... but there was a character from an anime which aired recently that made me constantly think "really...?" I wish they would have at least tried to be consistent with how to handle the covered eye.

If a character's eye is only partially covered but the entire eye is still drawn despite being partially covered, I'm okay with that. If the bangs of a character is covering an eye but it still is added, then it does look weird. Is it a bother? Depends I guess.

Yes I can say it bothers me unless the whole aesthetics of the anime can balance it or it's not that obvious like the image you posted.

For me... yes. I'm a little bit OCD about these things. I also draw myself and couldn't ever imagine myself drawing something that should be opaque as transparent. Although it isn't enough to bother me, I just prefer it not to be like that, to be honest.

Yes, I hate it when they do that shit.

It's less bothersome if they actually make it so the eye is visible, but the hair is still clearly over it.

No. Because I just tell myself for every stupid move I see that it's an old anime with many mistakes that studios today would never tend to make.
That's just what I think though. Who knows? Maybe there are still studios who make X-Ray hair.

Wow, I never noticed it before I guess. That one you posted looks terrible. Now I have something I'll be paying attention to more. Is there a particular genre its especially bad in? My favorite are usually shounen/seinen that have male leads so I guess that would somewhat reduce the likelihood of hair being in the face terribly much (usually)

It's okay, if there are just a few strands. That could look good in some cases, but...

I'd see it all the time in Pokémon as a kid, when they'd just have the hair sweep by their eye for a second. Didn't really bother me there because, like I said, it was only for a second. When the character design has the hair over their eye and they don't fix it it's just pure laziness. Yeah, I'm sure they gotta draw it to get the scale and all that right, but is it that hard to erase it? Which makes it all the stranger when they do bother to colour it in.

That's awful. Just plain awful...

And I thought people draw hair over the eye because they're too lazy to draw the other eye. If they don't have to draw the other eye, than why did they draw it and make it look more shitty than it already is?

Floating eyebrows
However floating eyebrows doesn't look as weird as an anime character with their eye through their hair

I think it depends on the art style. If it's a nice one then I'm fine with it since it can look right, or at least everything else does so it balances it. But other times it can look a little weird. It's just something you can either get used to or you can't.

I really just prefer ones like how Magi has it done, where the hair color just fills in the spaces of where the eye or eyebrow are, and move in and out of view as it moves.
