The wraparound band on the 12th volume of light novel Overlord, which goes on sale on Saturday, has revealed that the previously announced second season will premiere in January 2018. Madhouse will remain as the animation studio for the series.

Overlord is written by Kugane Maruyama with illustrations by so-bin. The light novel inspired a 13-episode TV anime adaptation that aired from July to September in 2015.

Well, at least the studio is staying the same for this one.

All hail Ainz-sama! Quite hype for this and can't wait to see more Albedo, Ainz and Shalltear again. Everyone on Nazarick is definitely an interesting character.

Nice.I am really looking forward for the second season of Overlord as the first season of it was one of the best anime of 2015 so i hope that the second season will not disappoint me also i want to ask LN readers that is this series gets way better in the next arcs(after completion of season 1 arcs) or will it go downhill?

If season 2 adapt the lizards arc then yes, it's gonna be boring as fuck, but if they skip it then it should be fine but I don't think they will skip it

I think I just came. This series really deserves a new season since the firs one was more laying the bricks than developing the secondary characters. I needed this in my life

it probably is one of the reasons because they also have other projects besides overlord.
But I can't believe that they ditch the money cow that is OPM

>i dont understand this hype

Some think it's fantastic some don't, it's pretty simple.

Me for example I thought overlord season 1 a bit boring and overall good, but I think that OPM is simply better.
It's a matter of preference

S1 was good dont get me wrong but it has so many flaws not because of source but because of the adaptation.

Eh. To me. One Punch Man had really great animation for action scenes, entertaining characters, enjoyable humor, soundtrack is great, and I'm a sucker for parody.

I thought Overlord was extremely dull in the beginning. Once Ainz got into that village and displayed that dominance is when I thought there was a turnaround. The graveyard scene though is when I started enjoying the show. I do like its potential but OPM 1-cour in was on a far more entertaining level for me because it grabbed me from the start to finish. I probably would have more appreciation towards Overlord if it wasn't some gamer trapped in a game and instead, it was a legitimate ruler.

Ohhh well, at least Madhouse is still the studio, although regrettably OPM was handed to JC Staff.

Expecting it to be good, like the S1.

It will be quite sad if it's just 13 EPs... I do hope that there's enough source material for it to be 26 EPs though.

I'll ragefuck if it's 13 EPs and I'll wait for a year for it to be animated. :/

So Madhouse chose this piece of hot stinking garbage to break the curse? I mostly respect difference of tastes, but I can't comprehend who can like this. I mean even SAO is better than this in every single way.

Show is:
50% self-insert deus ex machina filled action, which isn't even exciting, nor well animated.
50% badly animated fanservice

Wait so Madhouse will continue to be the studio for this but not OPM an obviously much more popular show in some people's opinions and a show that would make them a lot of money compared to how much overlord would make in my opinion. I just don't see the sense, the producers must be going mad since they haven't produced anything note worthy in what seems like forever. Not saying I disliked the first season of overlord, it was actually pretty good.

Overlord sold more disks than OPM, not to mention that the profit of OPM will get split between a lot of companies which is unfavorable for the ones that sits in the lower half of the production committee like Madhouse.
Madhouse is ranked 5th out of 5 companies that are part of Overlord S1 production committee. While it's ranked 8th out of 9 companies that are part of OPM S1 production committee. So its obvious which one is more profitable for them.
