They all basically live on an island with no resources, so I think many people stopped getting children, is this the main reasons ofr such a popular theme in anime? Many people don't get enough interactions with children, so they turn to sexualizing children in anime.

I don't believe there is an actual correlation between those...

Lolis are popular just by pure instinct. Child-like girls gives men a sense of protection, wanting to be close to them.

Lolis are drawn to be cute and draw attention from everyone exactly for this reason. That's why it is popular.

Yeah, also given the fact that the possibility of a person being attracted towards children increases as we travel east..

No, it's been around since the 80's. Even the greats like Enix have dabbled in loli.

I dont know why lolis are a problem when ive seen petite girls who look young as hell but they are of legal age. Some grown women are shorter than other girls.

Saying lolis are wrong is like saying we should ban midgets.

Well, there's a reason so many schoolgirl slice-of-life series are considered seinen.

Sexualizing children though? No. It's not about sexual desire, it's about satisfying their parental urges, because they know they will never have kids of their own.

Umm...pretty sure thats not it.

Lolis are popular because ppl like cute and innocent girls, on the real world we dont have lolis...so i think thats why its so demanded on anime/manga industry (i might be wrong tho)

It's kind of messed up the way you put it. It makes all Japanese look like pedophiles lol.
Anyways, it's certain that what you stated is not the case. I'm not a fan of lolis but some people like them because they're cute

Definitely not. But while not all Loli characters are sexualized(thank goodness or this can be hard to defend), its getting more and more that way. But its been around for a long time though. As the other guy said even Square Enix is doing Lolis now(how the mighty have fallen huh?).

At this point it won't be long before Nintendo does it too(oh wait Doki Doki Majo Shinpan on Nintendo DS already did that for me.)

Because Japanese people love Cute things while Western people love Macho Manly Men.
Japan has way too many cats, mostly everywhere you'll see so many cats so that's why they love cute things.

Osamu Tezuka the Godfather of Anime/Manga also created Pino from Black Jack, Pino is the one who started the Loli Archetype.

Lolis aren't always sexualized though =_=

And the answer to the question is also No. Lolis are there for the same reason you see all the moe characters. Cause cuteness sells well in the east just as well sex sells in the West >_>

While it's true that Japan's young population has been on decline, I don't think the popularization of "loli" is only exclusive in Japan.

Ot. Probably not, the little sister boom is what sprung from the declining birth rate. Though why it is a popular fetish is beyond me.

There are multiple definitions to lolit but the common perception is that a loli is an underage (or underage looking) female who is depicted in a sexual manner :http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=loli

Its because loli CAN be a short hand for lolicon, but more often than not it isn't. A loli is just an under-age or underage looking young girl. It honestly depends on context, and i doubt OP is refering to lolicon in that context because he was refering to anime, not hentai/porn doujins.

I don't think living on an island with no resources has anything to do with lack of children. They just work too much, and have too few opportunities for romance (even if they don't work).
That said, there really aren't enough children in Japan, and in many people's lives there. And in many people's lives overseas too. So they're popular.
Sexualization is not related. Japanese sexualize everything. Now excuse me, I've got to go look at some naked battleship girls.

Serious answer: No. Loli is popular in Japan mostly and originally because lolis are cute. Japan absolutely loves cute things, and lolis in anime tend to be cute to the 10th power.

I mean, seriously,look at her:
