THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
In the last episode I noticed the amazing visuals, in this one it was the soundtrack!

It's starting to get interesting, the crew is now following Gato in the Unit 2. We can see the fear of the rookies and terror of the battle. There's also a new rivalry being born.

Another fun episode.

I like how the two grunts who were killed were actually given faces.
Usually the allied named grunts never get faces or screen time except for when they die.

Keith and Kou act like they just entered the military like a week ago, or like they were just fresh out of training.

Gotta say though, it's nice to actually see incompetence in young green soldiers and struggling. In most gundams, it's like "I DO GOOD IMMEDIATELY! NO FEAR!" (ie: Kira, Amuro, Kamille (?), Judau, Shinn as a non-civilian example)

Great episode, I loved the interactions between Gato and Kou.
I guess now that Kou and Keith experienced real battle, they can develop well from now on.

Gundam vs airship, Gundam wins.

Gundam always wins, baby.

Agreed.

I'm really liking this series, the characters are very interesting and the begginers' way of dealing with war is more serious than the other ones (Amuro, Kamille, Judau, etc.)

Holy shit that fight was EPIC.

The general's death was cliche but I don't care because it was so cool.

I have to say the music and animation in this OVA so far has been incredible. One of the best I've seen, even.

I'm liking this so far, the animation and the ost are quite good, the fights are well choreographed and its nice to have pilots that arent newtype, lets face it thats way more interesting in a main character for them to have a learning curve and incompetence in a fight rather than be psychic

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me

The fights are extremely fun to watch. Seriously love the vibe of these 80s/90s Gundam series.

Kou taking out a ship with just a rifle and Keith destroying a mobile suit after they took off his Zaku's head that was pretty cool.

The ending is so cheesy, but I like it.

Another amazing episode!

I love the fights! Definitely much more realistic and very guerrilla warfare like.

Kou really acts and even sounds like Kamille at times. Though Kamille was never this afraid compared to Kou. As usual, We have to see the protagonist wimp out in the middle of battle before they become badass towards the middle and end.

Still when Gato said this is the third time the Gundam tried to foil his plans, he sounded like Char for failing 3 or more times on defeating Amuro in 079 XD

Also if Gato used to attend the Federation academy and was really popular being ace and all. How the hell didn't they recognized him when he infiltrated the base? Then again they only heard the name and probably didn't see in person.

Good stuff!! Want more battles like this :)

Can't wait for the next episode!!

The action was really good in this episode. Makes me sad that most of the Gundam shows that came out after this had really bad action scenes (my beam spam is stronger than your beam spam), probably all thanks to Gundam Wing.

I am still blinded by the end 80s/90s animation, music, voice acting... and the designs. I hope the story will be as good as The Origin (manga) because it already has a perfect shape.

I appreciated Uraki's reactions as a fresh test soldier who never actually experienced war. The "lectures" moment was good too (when the hero was being told both by the enemy and his superior what to do or how to think.
The action was good and what I stated above made it look wonderful to me.
But the engineer seems like a possible future annoyance: beautiful (I suppose?), useless, only caring about her "babies".

4/5 Will the Pegasus ship's crew take over the responsibility duties on the base?

edit: I realized it only now, but that was actually the first beam sabers duel between Zeon and the EFF?!

Also great this episode. Narrative that has its climax in the action, as it has always been in a Gundam's anime. But great importance also hold dialogues. Graphically it is a pleasure, everything is well designed and there are also some goodies. Fabulous!

Gato: played by Akio Ootsuka, seiyuu of Nemo from Nadia
Kou: played by Ryo Horikawa, a.k.a Reinhard von Lohengramm from LOGH :3
What a nice cast!

"We're in the middle of a battle and you start giving speeches?" - that's some 4th wall commentary from Kou, pretty self-aware. By the way I'm doubling that he looks like Kaneda haha.

Mora and Nina seem to be promising characters and actually decently written women in Gundam (even though their role has been minimal so far, they seem like adequate people)? I appreciate that.

Xamel looks cool, too bad it got destroyed. "Zieck Zeon" written on it, lol.

I also like how rookies were actually freaking scared of the battles. That's realistic. And the fact that the more skilled guy got killed is pretty ironic. I also enjoyed Nina's nervous reaction to the battle and her convo with Mora while driving a car (when she almost smashed into a destroyed GM).

Gato is pretty famous, it seems.

Gato is an interesting antagonist, I'm starting to like the characters more now.
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

Hmmm... not really feeling this one as much as some of the other UC stuff. Gato is a good antagonist, but I don't feel much in regards to the protagonists. The musick and visuals are great, though. It was cool to see how the characters react to Gato's legacy as a soldier. It helped ground the episode; at other times it seemed kind of cheesy. I kept thinking, "Why doesn't Gato just finish Kou off?" I guess he is too honorable for that. Still seems kind of weird? I don't know. Gotta keep going with it.

Lol, yeah right, "Freedom for Spacenoids". What drivel.

If they wanted me to feel any sympathy for an actual Zeon loyalist they shouldnt have written the colony-drop in. That killed any sympathy i could ever feel for Zeon ideals forever. Murdering billions of civilians is going to make anything you do in the future lose the possibility of you having the moral high ground.
