Saw it on another site. Its unreal and the death toll is going to be huge. Apparently a TNT shipment near petrol? Either way, that's a shocking explosion.

Video of explosion (nsfw)

Shit is going down

Another video

Apparently a gas station exploded, which ignited other explosives in the area, causing a chain reaction. One of them is a chemical warehouse. People are fleeing the city in fear of chemical gases leaking the area.

Honestly, I'm not surprised to be honest, safety precautions are nonexistent in China.

Holy shit, apparently there was a recent explosion in Russia too.

You should put a warning that has some scenes of people who are injured, possibly dead.

That shockwave is absolutely insane, sounds unlikely but since they dont know the cause I wonder if it was possibly a nuclear reaction.

I doubt it. While it was impressive, explosives beyond nuclear can produce shock waves like that.

Makes you wonder what will happen since China is now considering going nuclear to reduce its carbon emissions and dependency to coal, considering the industrial safety standards in the country.

Yeah, mushroom clouds seems to be the trademark of nuclear explosions, but it's not that simple. Most are distinct if you notice and despite that there's also the quick flash which wasn't present with these explosions. Go watch the testings if you haven't already. The bomb goes off around 9:00 and incinerates a house briefly before leveling it.

I certainly hope theres some kind of improvment on safety otherwise a very terrible disaster could occur.

That video was quite fascinating, I'll have to compare the two again to see if you're right about the flash. I wonder if the cause of the explosion will be declassified

Yeah, though I'm curious why they replaced the sounds of the shock wave with thunder lol. The flash from most recorded nuclear explosions I've seen were quick. The one from the second video lasted a few seconds and then after that another one which was longer appeared. I'd say whatever it was produced very high temperatures which contributed to the mushroom cloud.

China has an extensive history of being the blue collar nightmare.

Also those German explosions didn't result in hundreds of other civilians being injured or killed.

I think its just that it was just too fast and high for the mic to pick up but really I dont know.
I agree with you that higher tempertures caused the mushroom cloud. I'm thinking the initial explosion was possibly a series of gas tanks that heated up a shipment of volatile chemicals which in their compressed state caused a massive explosion and shockwave. But once again I dont know, I kinda wish I knew more about chemistry to say more but I dont.

Yeah, quite surprised the recording equipment held up and didn't just melt. Well from the videos I've seen so far there was a fire before the explosions so I think somehow a fire started and then reacted with those tanks. I noticed there was quite an amount of debris scattered, but I'm not sure if that was just due to the dense industrial area or material involved. I believe mainly it was a large chain reaction of smaller explosions.

At 0:12 you can see three happen in rapid succession. They show a slow mo, but the first clip is better as the first flash is an explosion, which causes an even larger one, and then the fire from that one causes another one nearby. Really the dense infrastructure is to blame. Also if you want to know about something then read about it =P.

I'm guessing the camera's were protected in a dense material to protect against the blast.
Thats true, I didn't notice that. I was thinking it was a chain reaction as well but the video I saw seemed like one big one, the infrastucture definitely got ripped to shreds, I wonder if pieces of concrete were scattered across the city or maybe they were liquified upon the explosion.
I plan on studying chemistry this year so hopefully I'll learn a bit more.
Anyway gotta log of, condolences to those who died.

Sounded like that because "safety precautions are nonexistent in China.", yet it happens in very highly developed Countries as well. That leaves the Question whether those Countries also had "nonexistent Safety Precautions" or whether there was nothing they could've done against the Disaster and whether the only Difference is in how successful they could prevent the Causalities and how good and fast they could clean everything up.

There were also quite a few very deadly Chemistry Explosions in the Past:
Oppau Explosion, Germany, 500-600 Deaths, about 2000 more People injured.
Texas City Disaster, USA, around the same Deaths, but more People injured.
Toulouse chemical Factory Explosion, France, 29 Deaths, about 30 seriously wounded and 2500 light Causalities.

Industrial safety standards are a bit lax in China aren't they? I mean not just this, people have been regularly poisoned by the lack of industry regulation for food producers. Possible. 23 tons of TNT isn't all that much. It was just a couple storage tanks, didn't spread to the rest of the facility. If a whole refinery complex goes up, you are dealing with 1000's of tones of TNT. You can look up videos of train derailments or fuel trucks blowing up. They make pretty massive explossions.

If a whole facility goes up it spreads like an Automic bomb.

Too old, and Germany wasn't exactly in the state of being a "highly developed" nation after the events of WWI.
Texas City Disaster, USA, around the same Deaths, but more People injured.

Too old, it wasn't until the 1970s when the US started growing for modernity in workplace/environmental safety. I don't see your point? Bringing up the idea that highly developed nations can experience accidents like this and then bringing up accidents that occured over half a century ago when standards weren't so highly developed?
