| I barely care about the top anime. High School DxD BorN is #11 for example and stuff like Gintama is so praised due to the 1/3 rule and people who dropped the first series would not watch the rest. How else would Gintama' have a 9.40 score? |

| Thanks. But I mean, why is that certain anime great? If it is because of the plot, then why as well. Yeah, I pick on which anime to watch base on the MAL Top Anime list, I haven't watch tons of great animes so.. I am not familiar on most of the anime part of 200, like monongatori (?) , samurai champloo. etc.. So, Idk what makes it great |

| Those animes in the top 200 list are collectively likable. They are the one's that mostly don't divide people's opinions, so they don't get low rates. So, they are not taking many risks or going all out in anything. They are generally really enjoyable, but sometimes play it too safe. |

| All of my favorites are in the top 200. Gintama deserves its high rating in my opinion. Few shows come close to what Gintama has achieved with being both extremely funny and serious at times. |

| Out of the 17 shows I've rated a 10/10 9 shows are in the top 200, but those include multiple seasons so I have rated about 5 different shows a 10/10. |

From experience the ones I rate 10/10 tend to be the ones that are also in the 200 (or just outside of it), which is not that surprising. If it's something that most people like, then the chances that I'll like it too is also bigger. Generally I have a good experience with the top 200. I think out of those I saw, there were only a handful I rated less than 5. |

| Both seasons of Code Geass are in the top 20 and DxD, a sequel one of the worst ecchi I've come across (and hasn't aired to boot), is 11th.... there are areas where it can be improved severely, but it's the majority's vote. So yes, they deserve to be there... except for DxD. |

| Umm, that's a lot of Gintama. Can we just condense that into the Gintama franchise? FMAB is good and has a wide range of appeal, so for reccomenation purposes I can understand putting it at the top, but if someone tried to tell me its the best anime I'd roflmao. Hunter x Hunter is like a crappy Tower of God. A really crappy Tower of God. Even if Tower of God isn't an anime, that doesn't make HunterxHunter good nor does it have that wide of an appeal. Clannad AfterStory? HahahahahahahhahahaahahhahahaahahahahahhaahahahohohoHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!! No, haha, just no. Monogatari Series: Second Season is good but its a lit slower than the previous series. The dialogue often isn't as snappy and the plot isn't as tight. I'd say it makes no sense to put it above the Bakemonogatari, though I think Nisemonogatari is best. The whole list seems kinda random. Maybe it shouldn't be ordered. |

| This might be relevant to the thread: MyAnimeList Top Anime list evolution since 2007 So is there any era (so to speak) which had a better top anime list? I think the Top 20 anime list was better when there weren't four Gintama entries. Sad that Death Note dropped off the list though :'( One Piece was number 2 in 2007 :O And FMA 2003 (along with HxH 1999) have really dropped with time |
