Yay for original voice actresses/actors. I'm concerned about the studio change though. They have some big shoes to fill, IMHO, and these days I'm not very confident in these kinds of changes.

Do you guys think they'll be able to pull it off?

Well Satelight is okay, they did spin-off VN adaptation from Muh Luv, Baldr and White Album 2 OC, so they are quite trustworthy. To be honest, Japanese trust them more than Mad House
however this director ....

Satelight this time now...not sure how I feel about that.

Good to now this is airing for Spring though. I wish it would air for Winter but it's definitely something I'm looking forward to later this year.

"In the past few months since we met, I've shared many memories with Nagato. Though I've also shared memories with Haruhi, Asahina-san and Koizumi, I found that I've experienced more events with Nagato in particular. In fact, every situation seems to involve her. I might as well mention this, she's probably the only person to cause the bell within me to shake the most vigorously..." ~ Kyon, TMOSH

Dont know if I can trust these due to how painful Muv Luv Total Eclipse was to watch a lot of the time which they didnt even adapt properly, So hopefully this is good but I do have my doubts.

Maybe this anime will have the same role as Psycho-Pass 2, just to fill in the void between the previous series & the next true series by the original anime studio. Basically: KyoAni's Haruhi Suzumiya Works --> Satelight's one --> The next Haruhi Suzmiya anime from KyoAni.
I like anime.

If you liked Log Horizon, you should be okay with this or at least willing to give it a shot.

The last Satelight production I watched was Macross Zero. That came out in 2002 and looked pretty damn good. I'm gonna watch just because Yuki-chan though.

I don't really care if this is Kyoani or not. The quality of Kyoani shows has dropped a lot lately anyway, so I'm not that concerned. It can't be that bad to have a different studio behind this. Consider us lucky that it's still all the same voices.

And it's airing Spring 2015? Consider my hype for Spring increased again.

Why did anyone assume it would be KyoAni to begin with? I think Satelite will do a good job, it certainly feels like a series that would be in their range.

>This was NOT written by the same person as the original Haruhi Suzumiya series, this is just a spin-off.
>This will not interupt or change anything about the original story.
>I believe the reason why Kyoto Animation is not animating this is because they're not interested in this spin-off (pretty reasonable because the chances of it to suck is high) or maybe they're not interested in any type of Haruhi Suzumiya content anymore.
>The voicing cast is the same because it is not usual to change the voice actors of any series and also voice actors are not associated with animation studios so they can voice whatever show they're offered to.
>Don't get your hopes high for another Haruhi Suzumiya series by the original creator or KyoAni because I think the series made a fantastic finale with the movie(The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya) but these types of Spin-offs can continue.[If this one sucks, there's literally no chance for any another HS anime]
>Satelight is a good animation studio. It is nowhere near KyoAni still I think they'll do a good job but just a warning: It won't feel the same as the KyoAni style of anime.

No surprise there! Kyoani has been shit for years now.

I didn't expect the same voices though... what's stopping them from making an actual season 3?

I don't watch as much anime as before...

IT really isn't about KyoAni, but about the people there. Their animation quality seems okay from what I see, but they aren't the only ones who can match that, it's the pacing and story telling that matters, anyhow. If Haruhi's director does it, it can still shine.

The "second season" of Haruhi might cause you suffering, but Disappearance will make it all worth it.

Just because KyoAni isn't animating The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan, you just assume that it won't be as good as The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya? Well, that may be so, but I'm still watching it to make sure.

The cast is returning? That means Aya Hirano will be voicing Haruhi again!!! YIPPEE!!!!!

I can't wait until spring. I will be counting down the days!

It's not like KyoAni is a guarantee of quality lately so let's see how Satelight handles this, besides the strength of the Haruhi franchise was the source material (the novels written by Tanigawa) and not the KyoAni shows.

No one would've cared if KyoAni hadn't animated Haruhi. They practically did a perfect job if you take out E8, but even then I understood what they were trying to do on a thematic level. At least with Haruhi you're guaranteed quality if you have KyoAni. With Satelight I have no idea what to expect, and besides the guy in charge of planning who did all the other Haruhi Anime I don't expect anything from anyone else other than the original VA cast. I hope they do the Haruhi franchise justice, but right now I'm going in with low expectations.

Eh, I'm fine with the studio change. I really don't care if it's KyoAni or Satelight, as long as it's good I'll be happy.

A friend of mine has been collecting the manga for this one so I eventually got curious. Will be watching.

Yeah... The new guys has big shoes to fill. I don't think I know any spinoffs being good besides Railgun, by that trend it's not expected to do much; still, it's the Haruhi Franchise.

Yeah, Kyoani, or the director anyhow, did an amazing job. The pace and direction of hte shows were near perfect, and that's not something any other studio can achieve (unlike animation quality). There are good reasons to be wary of this adapt for sure.

Welp, looks like she's gonna get a spanking from the director
