| I really liked the art and the music used in this episode. Kousei's background is very common in reality. You know, a kid forced to play a musical instrument in his childhood to fulfill his parents expectations ends up hating it. However, somehow, he feels attached to the instrument, which means everything for him and makes him what he is. |

Which means............ a pianist would be perf as her boyfriend TT^TT I thought the baseball girl would be so cute with him Q___Q I'm already feeling depressed with this first episode cuz the baseball girl has liked him for a very very long time :'( but Kaori is obvs way cuter and more feminine :( so sad T______T |
| As someone living in Bremen I was kind of surprised, that the Town Musicians of Bremen are known outside of Germany, let alone Japan, lol. Well there are other occurences of them for example in Majora's Mask but this was the first time I saw a reference in an anime. |

Mmmm, the first seconds or minutes of the show didn't convince me but fortunately that changed. A quick fragmented explanation about Kousei's situation helped me to understand why he doesn't play anymore (I thought it was some brain damage thing), what does he feel? what did lead him to this?. It was a short exposition but sufficient with information. Now, not everything was serious, there was humor too. That kind of humor that makes the characters to deform and make you laugh which I think is welcome to relief the emotional suspense/stress we will experience in this story. Now, some funny things to mention:
This show makes me feel like a good for nothing T_T look at all those little kids playing like pros! *goes to cry in a corner* |

| On a rewatch and I forgot how much I enjoyed it the first time. Nichijou and Evangelion kicked it out of my top 5 but after rewatching the first episode and feeling incredibly nostalgic with the ED song it's become my fourth favourite again. |

| Art and sound are amazing, but the whole dynamic between the main protagonists felt forced. The girl playing in the playground, she holding his hand at the end when two minutes ago she was pissed with him... Really forced. Hope it gets better. |

| Alright I like the atmosphere, very relaxing that music that yellow hair kid performed in the playground was awesome that's some Harvest Moon type thing and I dig that. Anyway this show has been on my ptw list ever since though I really don't plan to watch it when I found out it's sad as fuck cause I'm kinda avoiding dramas knowing I'm a crybaby but fuck it it's on Netflix so I might as well watch it. Lastly this show has a very high average score so I'm expecting a lot, hope it won't disappoint. |

| I've put off watching this since it first came out simply because it never seemed interesting to me but, to my surprise, this is a pretty good anime. Quite an excellent first episode, tbh. I don't know if I'll continue it but for now, I like it. |

| I've been wanting to watch this show for YEARS, but never got the chance to do so, but now I do so hopefully this'll be a great one! The OP, ohh... the OP... A beautiful OP with a bright and colourful visual with an equally beautiful and catchy song. No wonder why many people that have watched this show thought that the OP is so memorable! The ED, on the other hand, is pretty much high quality as well, quite a relaxing song TBH, I especially like how they use the last bit of ED for the next ep preview. So basically, Kousei's mother wanted Kousei to be a famous pianist in Europe on her stead since she's very ill. That's why she trained him HARSHLY by beating him up with the walking stick (damn). But Kousei is okay with it since he wanna make his mother happy, which he almost did when he finally reaches the European competition. But then his mother passed away and thus he stopped playing it. He thinks as if he does not have anything else besides piano, so he still holds on to it despite the fact that he hated it. That's a lot of information for 1 ep, but it's pretty straightforward, I'm intrigued by how this will go on from here on out... |

| Now that is one B A N G E R of an OP. The animation of tween-Kousei playing the piano was really well done. Sounded good too. I'm surprised he can move after getting murdered like that with the baseball. He just sort of shrugged it off. It's amusing that the OP exists in this universe as a popular song. They even say the band's name "Goose House." Backstory with him and his mom was sad. Unfortunate that he had to go through that. I don't really care for the whole "the wind blew up my skirt" gag but at least her going all sadistic on him was funny. Overall, that was an alright first episode. 4/5. |
| So I'm clearly late to the party as I am only just watching this now! But as far as first episodes go, this was super solid! it just had a super warm feel to it! The music (obviously) was really impressive, especially the ED! No problems with any of the characters they all have their own quirks and personalities! Very excited for this one!! |

| I'm going to totally agree with at least the first part of @Dante012's statement there, have no clue about the second part of it since I've never watched Clannad. But I do know that everything felt extremely forced and cliche, the scene about his mom beating him when he didn't play the piano correctly was so cheesy that I burst out laughing. This was like everything I hate about modern mainstream anime rolled into one disgusting package, if the next episode isn't drastically better I may find something else to fit it's slot in the challenge I'm doing. |

| Quite average start, being honest. Wasn't expecting that level of "chibi" comedy and Kaori's sudden change of attitude towards Kousei at the end felt completely forced. Now on the other hand, I actually found Kousei's backstory with his mother kinda interesting from a psychological point of view. Just hope the anime gives a proper amount of focus to his state of mind instead of just playing around with that possible love triangle storyline between him, Kaori and Tsubaki. |

| That was an awesome start. Like the animations and what little music they've already shown. Also, did not expect Kaori to be that energetic (I've only seen her screenshots of her around the internet), but I like her better that way since my expectations were a more silent type of girl. This is looking beautiful. The cherry blossoms are wonderful. A candidate for a favourite. |

| Quite an average start. I'm not a fan of the artstyle, especially those lips, but the animation and music is beautiful. Was not expecting this kind of chibi style comedy and I dislike it. Same goes for the characters, especially the leads' first meeting and her sudden attitude change towards him. Hoping it gets better. |
