"Scars in the Wasteland"

The wolves find themselves driven into a cave by a blizzard. While they discuss not having eaten for three days, Hige smells the carcass of a deer-like animal. Tsume asks if are really gonna eat that, and Hige asks if he isn't. Tsume gets annoyed when the others start talking about Paradise and stomps off, with Toboe following to try and persuade him to return. They end up in the ruins of a city. As Toboe searches for Tsume, he accidentally activates an automated sentry mech. Tsume sees it targeting Toboe and rushes to save him, getting shot in the leg in the process. They run off, but the mech catches up and shoots the ground out from under them, sending them plummeting into a valley below. Hige and Kiba realize the place was a military installation and go to look for the other two. When the mech finds them again, Toboe tries to act as a decoy to give Tsume time to limp away, but it spots Tsume and corners him. As it is about to fire, Kiba attacks the mech and draws off its fire. He spears it with a slab of rock, but it continues firing as Kiba runs up a nearly vertical valley of snow. The mechs gunfire triggers an avalanche that buries it.

Back in the city, Cher gives Hubb a key and asks him to water her plants while she's gone, as she is taking a leave of absence and wonders what the work she's been doing was for. When she leaves, she kisses him on the mouth which dazes him long enough for her to get outside and into a black car with some men and leave. When Hubb goes to her house, though, he doesn't find any plants at all. He spots the scarf poking out of her desk drawer and opens it to find that the scarf is wrapped around a copy of the Book of the Moon.
What if the Hokey Pokey is what it is all about?

So.....She knew about the Lunar Tome the whole time? Or was it because Darcia showed up?

Interested in what happened with Cher. Who were those two guys in the car? It could have just been body guards or something, but my gut feeling tells me that she was carried off so far. Then again, I could just be wrong. Interesting how she had that book, which I presume is what she was talking about with Hubb. It's clear she left that cloth hanging out because she wanted him to find it, though.

Kiba was alpha as fuck here by the way. Kind of surprised no one freaked out over Tnobe licking Tsume's wound. I guess these forum goers understand they are wolves and all, which is cool.

That was one powerful robot. Anyway, Kiba was badass when he fought it. Loved the episode.

Don't think this episode is quite as good as the other ones. Still good.

When Tsume was attacked I expected Toboe to save him. Surprised to see it was Kiba.

The same with Cher kissing Hubb.

This anime was one of the first that I watched, probably around 10 years ago and I finally got around to rewatching it.

I'm finding this time around I like Tsume a lot more than I did back then, however Toboe is still super annoying.

I also wonder why Kiba speaks as if he knows everything. He probably does, and he's probably gone through a lot of things. I guess I can see why Tsume doesn't like this, because he's the type to be a leader too yet it must be annoying to know that he doesn't know as much about the world than he thought. At least Toboe likes him. Kiba was awesome coming to save the day, and I like his answer, that he didn't save Tsume because they were friends but because of instincts. Hmm, and what's up with Cher? She seems to be kind of shaken from that incident.

My relationship with the animation comes and goes; sometimes the wolves seem strange, but the close ups are always awesome. Love how they are coming together as a pack, Tsume seems to be the type to actually devout himself once he finds something (or someone[s]) worth it.

Watching this episode, I remember the first thing I disliked in this series: despite moving together in a deserted area and not maintaining their illusory form, we must see them as humans. Why? Probably because the creators judged it would be more effective than mere wolves to connect the characters and the audience.

So much fujoshi fanservice. All the guys are hot, and Toboe, who's stereotypically effeminate or shota-esque, "likes" Tsume, and angsty badass of the group. Toboe's whiny personality is the worst thing about this otherwise fascinating show, but it's not quite a deal breaker. I probably get used to him.

I wonder who Cher left with, and what that book was in her apartment. Nice kiss between her and Hubb. You don't see many mature relationships like that in anime nowadays.

Wow, that's some advanced technology right there, and armed to the teeth to boot. Kiba tho outsmarted it to rescue Tsume and Toboe. All because of instinct. You gotta love it.

Meanwhile, Cher left behind the ancient pagan book for Hubb to find. Cher is either: a) being kept as a prisoner of sorts now, or b) she is working on a super, super-secret project to get Cheza back. Who knows, I could be wrong on both accounts.

Another good episode.

I don't mean to be nit-picky here, but I feel like this is the weakest episode yet. The stereotypical 4 combo of the one cool hateful cold guy who is a bit kind on the inside, the silent protagonist who has a mysterious past, the chill laid back guy who's always smiling, and the wimp. They go on an adventure and of course there would be an episode where the cool cold guy gets angry and leaves so the wimp guy follows him, and then boom they're in a pinch and we wish we had the two other guys here, and then the two other guys come back, and then they go back together happily ever after. It's all too familiar.

I hope the series gets back on track and improves. Can't wait to see where this goes.

Every time I watch the OP I get irritated with how the city looks very Japanese while the cities in the actual story look nothing like it and it is set in Russia.
