Hibike Euphonium truly is back! I'm sad that this will be the last season but all good things must come to an end. This episode was a really good intro to the new first year students

It's been 9 years since Sound! Euphonium first aired, which feels like a long time ago, yet at the same time, it doesn't. Still, I'm happy to see KyoAni back once again with the 3rd season of this series. =)

Kumiko still remains the same as always with how she converses with her friends and fellow bandmates, which brings a smile on my face. I enjoyed seeing her and Kanade bounce back between each other during this episode in particular.

Still, it's her final year of high school, along with Reina, Hazuki and Sapphire, so it'll be their last chance to go for gold at the nationals. The recruitment drive for new members was a big success, where a few of them look to be promising from their introductions alone. Thankfully, despite being a group of ninety members, everyone was unanimous in wanting to go for gold. Here's hoping that they can achieve this goal this time around.

Lastly, we were also introduced to Mayu, who was playing her own euphonium. She seems to be a nice girl, although I can't help but feel that things will be seriously competitive. Kumiko's going to have to work hard, not only as the club president, but also as a fellow euphonium player herself, so do your best, Kumiko!

Really nice start. I think I wasn't all that into season two, but this season seems more fresh. I'm in and liking it fine this time around.

Great to see my favorite not-lesbians again. The Chikai no Finale movie wasn't the best but I'm hopeful this season will make Kumiko's third year justice.

Also wonder if Asuka will make a brief appearance at some point. I miss her so much (┬┬﹏┬┬)

We're so blessed to have more Kumiko-Reina moments. Oh, and a new eupho player with talent on par with Asuka-senpai. I wanna see how Reina reacts to this.

Apart from that, Kumiko as a prez is pretty awkward. Luckily, she does have her special skill - resolve emotional issues through being at the right place at the right time, coming in clutch.

This Mayu Kuroe, but the way Kumiko reacted it seems like she recognized the name.
Is she someone that I should know and is she someone whose backstory was still not shown?

@PaninaManina After that dramatic introduction I totally expected to come here and have people talking about why Kumiko would be afraid of her. Like if her family name had a connection to something that was mentioned earlier. But I guess I'll find out along with everyone else. I hope she turns out to be friendly.

KyoAni back to form. Immediately felt like I was sucked back into the Season 1 and Season 2 time.
Everything feels new yet familiar, plenty of subtle and not-so-subtle callbacks to the previous installments of the series, voice acting top-notch once again (especially Sora Amamiya as Kanade, god I can't get enough of that cheeky little cinnamon bun), artstyle, animation, lighting perfect once again.

I love what they did with Mayu Kuroe, giving her an introduction that has elements we've seen with both Asuka and Reina up until now (the solitary playing of a slow, emotional tune, and the special visual flair when Kumiko first takes a good look at her)... it really sets her up as an important character right from the get-go.

all in all...

When Kumiko finished her breakfast and walked next to her mother, I got the first shock: "OMG look how tall she is now!" I almost felt paternal pride in seeing this girl grow up so quickly, she went through so much with the other children and now she is the senpai president.

It's a shame that her father is portrayed as so strict and difficult to communicate with his daughters, it's commendable that he cares about their professional future, but he had to realize that all he needed from them was to develop a good personality, and that Kumiko and Mamiko have it, they are good girls and have what it takes to lead a good and relatively happy life. In the end, that's what matters.

Even if Kumiko doesn't get the national gold, I would like her father to have the opportunity to recognize that he is the one who has two nuggets of gold at home and that he could reconcile with Mamiko and be able to support Kumiko, so that she doesn't get frustrated and to seek new goals in life.

KyoAni, as always, makes high-level anime.
I really liked the art and music in first episode.
The plot, as always in Euphonium series, is a little boring, but still enjoyable to watch.
Also im really interested in the new heroine.

Waiting for second episode.

I was not a fan from day 1 but ever since I watched season 1 last year (or was it two years ago) I instantly became one. When the information about the OVAs and season 3 dropped I was extremely hyped and it's finally fucking here!

I have what I think is the mildest take ever: I hate Kanade ever since her first appearance in the movie. She comments on everything like spelling out what the viewers are thinking. It's annoying. But seems like I have to get used to it since she's gonna be what Kumiko was to Asuka. The new first years, I don't know, they're a little too quirky? It's like the girl wearing a bandana on hear head might overlap with Hazuki in terms of personality.

Tomatsu Haruka really nails the voice acting here. She sounds so laid back and kind, you can taste the sweetness in her voice lmao.

Point of interest:
- The return of Kumiko noises...
- The return of Kumiko's iconic: "Shoshite... Tsugi no kyoku wa hajimaru desu...."
- Ribbon-chan's iconic red ribbon
- The all-time famous Kumiko x Reina's "I-can't-believe-they're-not-gay" relationship
- Hollup! Did Sapphire x Motomu ever a thing really?
@uncleqrow Gayness of Kumiko and Reina is greatly overrated, especially due to the ship wars that arose afterwards. Liz and the Bluebird is much better for making jokes about this.

I don't think much people here are dumb enough to NOT know this, but in case you didn't read the anime relations, this is a sequel to the special OVA Ensemble Contest, which in turn is a sequel to movie 3: Our Promise A Brand New Day which follows after season 2. It was also recommended to me to watch Liz and the Blue Bird but honestly, I haven't seen that one yet, and I didn't feel like I was missing two much except for the relation and central plot between two side characters has well as supposedly adding depth to some of the other side characters in the series so that last one is optional for those who want to watch it (I plan to watch it eventually, but I'm not in a rush to do so tbh).

When I realize that Kumiko and co. are already third years, I feel a strong sense of nostalgia, as this was one of the rare series I've followed live for most of its run~!>:P> I'm curious about the new girl that showed up, and it took me a while to realize this, but I've finally figured out how the ribbon system works for the girls' uniforms!

Kumiko's third and final year in high school, one where she is leading the club alongside Reina and Shuuichi. This episode was visually beautiful, but I wonder if I will grow to like the new first years as the older cast of characters have graduated and moved on.

After all this time, we finally get the final part of this amazing series. And I almost cried when I began watching. I was so moved! I felt some dread from starting it because once this starts and ends, Hibike! Euphonium will be over T_T

But an amazing start for this season. There were honestly so many moments I loved that it's simply hard to list them all. A few include Kumiko and Kanade's banter, especially Kumiko saying "Yeah, I wonder what." despite making it sound like she knew lol

Of course, Kumiko and Reina's interactions are still top-notch. Some hints of Kumiko x Tsukamoto. They better have an ending for these two by the end as well!

Who is this Mayu girl they've been teasing ever since S3's posters came out, I wonder? I don't know why, but I get a bit anxious about it. The image they're presenting is not a wholly positive one. There's some dread in there. And she wasn't among the new first-years in the club. So what's her deal?

This episode was a 10/10.

Ah, it's already nostalgic, and especially now seeing Kumiko as the senpai club president asking them if they want to win the gold at the nationals.... hopefully they'll win this time, the girl at the end seems very interesting I guess.
