Oh yeah! Food Wars is back! =D This was a really solid first episode to get the ball rolling for the second cour. Soma is, of course, at its best with his Chicken Tempura dish that gave Erina an amusing foodgasm. The little Yukihira chicks made me laugh. XD Other good humour moments was Tsukasa's nerves on T.V, Hisako going crazy when she couldn't find her "precious" Erina and Soma's many amusing expression during his chat with Erina in his room. Not to forget, Erina's rally call to the rest of the dorm members was epic too. Soundtrack was on point, the new OP song is pretty good and the ED song is VERY hype. I'm so looking forward to seeing this arc arc adapted to where I am with the manga right now. =D |

I was there ion the edge of my seat waiting all day to see when this would be available. took some time to get there. I usually skip the OP as there are always spoilers in it. I usually watch it at the end of the season. As for the ep I was pleased with it; it continued on where the other left off. Only thing I would have done different would have been a scene between Erina and Souma where should would have said you as Jouichiro's son. ! But as I have not read the manga well it could be there and maybe not. Loved how we got some of the back story with Jouichiro and Erina. I have been waiting to get more info on that since season 2. Now if we could only get info as to why Johichiro came before the Autumn election I would be happy. No spoilers please . waiting to see if its in the anime or else I will catch up in the manga. as usual I can't wait to see the next ep. |

Ohh yeah!!! its finally back, and right where it ended on last cour. Erina sure has able to realize one big thing about cooking - and that is FUN!!! * sure those central really wants all those on the polar dormitory to be oust of the school but with the help of Soma and Erina it will be a great one for them... *and the quote that Yukihira Soma and Jouichiro said is so true even in real life "IF YOU KNOW WHERE YOURE HEADED, ITS NO FUN AT ALL". sometimes those unexpected things or surprises are making lives happier and more exciting... LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT EPISODE!!! |

I forgot how much fun i have with this series in the short hiatus between seasons, art seems significantly more on point than last cour too. Erina's character development is probably the best addition to the show thus far, her and souma butting heads(or more like her one sided butting head) was always entertaining to me but something about their dynamic now is just way more entertaining and kind of heartwarming whilst still being funny. Granted im a sucker for characters that start off disliking the other but eventually warm up as long as its not too fast, and I like that generally the justification for erina isnt that shes just warming up to souma its more she as a whole was acting wrongly most the series not just to him. Its smart on the show cause it doesnt just sweet erina's attitude under the rug and its also not doing it at such a fast pace that shes just suddenly different. |

A really good episode with several great throwbacks to season 1. Personally as an anime-only fan of the series I've found it very difficult to focus my attention on Erina or really care about her character and situation as a whole. However, this episode has definitely changed my pre-existing opinion of her and I genuinely look forward to her character growth in relation to soma and her aid to the rest of the gang. All in all, looking forward to the rest season of 3. |

I definitely thought it would've been funnier if Soma served Nakiri one of his "creations" right after serving her the tempura chicken egg bowl and everyone came running upstairs to stop her XD. But I cant stay that that ending wasnt satisfying as all hell |

It's so nice to have that reminiscing feeling when you already read the manga then you watched the anime and see them actually move, it's kinda like having a deja vu, like oh here comes this part, and this part, and this and that, it is exactly how you perceive it in your mind. It's a good thing that the anime is the same as the manga, especially if you really like mangas and likes to read first before watching. Good job folks! Can't wait when this season is over. Because i'm going to binge it all. Btw love the songs, definitely wanna listen to them before i go to sleep. SomaxMegumiShip |

How are you hyped about the anime as a manga reader when the anime adaptation has been horrible since S2 apart from the first five episode of S3? I'm just interested in what makes you think so. Haven't had a chance to watch the episode yet. But as it adapted 5 chapters from what I've heard, the chances that this episode is well adapted are practically zero since every episode that adapted as much was rushed as hell. Idk about the animation quality, but if it's as bad as the second half of S3, this season will sadly be a terrible adaptation again. S1 was the only actual great season because the pacing was perfect and the animation was flawless. Afterwards the anime went downhill. The manga went downhill as well, but it's still pretty enjoyable. The hype for MHA is currently there because of what's going to happen in the next episodes. Having read both manga, the upcoming content in MHA blows SnS out of the water by far. I mean you gave S1 and S2 a pretty high rating, so you seem to be enjoying MHA overall, right? When reading the MHA manga, the upcoming arc was the first to actually get me really hyped. On top of that, it has one of the best anime adaptations, I've ever seen apart from Haikyuu, HxH 2011 and Gintama, who are about as well adapted as MHA. |

It's great to be back in the world of Shokugeki no Soma!! This episode played out perfectly! I was so happy to see Erina enjoying Soma's cooking and her little speech at the end was euphoric. Can't wait to see how it all goes down! Also, Erina x Soma is something I hope we'll get to witness, it has to happen! Sidenote: Did anyone else notice the lipsyncing was a bit off at moments? Particularly near the end with Erina? |

I stopped reading because I want to be surprised by the anime with the color, music, voice instead of the plain black/white on paper. There always new idea on cooking that common people never thought of, and the creator are probably researching around Japan since the food there is getting more diverse in reality. As for MHA, it is good. BUT with the overwhelming high rating, I expected a good start off way better than other series. But what I get is disappointment with some recap. If they got extra budget, spent that on a recap OVA like "Boku no Hero Academia 2nd Season: Hero Note". If you're a manga reader, don't push your manga opinion to those don't read. I do noticed MHA manga readers are the one screwing up the rating with just 1st ep (recap). It's not something to be proud and defensive about. But if people were to really rate MHA seriously, it had to be really amazing where it blew our mind to the point we can say we never see anything like this before. Overall, it a good series but it is not something to be hyped about. I wasn't surprised by each episode. Food way always surprised me with food representation. This series gave me the motivation to cook home than eat out. |

Overall, it a good series but it is not something to be hyped about. I wasn't surprised by each episode. Food way always surprised me with food representation. This series gave me the motivation to cook home than eat out. Well, you read up until chapter 212 while the anime is currently around chapter 170, so I'm assuming you've read that part in the manga. Tbh, I don't have anything about Food Wars at all, I'd just rather have a better anime adaptation. I just don't like it when anime rush things. I don't try to push my opinion on others. I wouldn't blame manga readers for "screwing up" the rating since manga readers already know what will happen so we have the right to vote after one episode since we know it will turn out good. The ones actually screwing it up are the fanboys who didn't even read the manga and don't even know whether they will like future episodes or not. You rate sth based on how much you like it, so what's wrong if I already know beforehand that I will like the season because I read everything in the manga. Tbh, the upcoming part in the manga blew my mind which is exactly why I'm already rating it and why I'm hyped for this season despite having read it in the manga. Whether it will blow your mind, idk and idc, so don't expect too much, just enjoy the ride and rate it based on how much you like it. The reason why I probably like Food Wars less is because I'm more critical towards flaws in story writing and plotholes. Don't get me wrong, the representation of food is great, I haven't really got the time and money to cook for myself though, so it can't motivate me in that direction like in your case. |

OP and ED is good but it also has significance behind it. In the OP its shows the upcoming battle between Souma V/S Akira and Polar Star Dormitory V/S Central/Elite 10. In the ED its shows that Souma is almost caught upto Erina and he has already surpassed Joichiro when he was Souma's age. |

OG_Gattsu said: YOOOOO, Erina’s character development!! 🔥💯 Seeing Erina’s growth, I now have conflicted feelings as to whether Megumi’s still best girl, but actually Erina 😞 I feel. My heart wants Megumi x Souma to sail because they are so adorable together, the way they support one another. SOOO ADORABLE. But my mind and the past few OP and ED animations are telling me best girl is obviously Erina. The signs are clear. In love triangles, nice girls from the beginning always get friend-zoned it's a an unavoidable trope ;__; On a side note, this episode was actually really nice in terms of pacing. Everything was executed very clearly and it was nice to see the character development for Erina. Her character annoyed me a lot, and I'm glad she'll actually listen to what people have to tell her and can empathize with others now...which makes her appearances on screen easier to bear. Souma though is a full on idiot there will not be any development in terms of relationships for this man which is fine since he is very passionate about his cooking. In the end though, I feel bad for whatever girl ends up with this dude LOL the question in the end will be who can actually accompany this guy for life. |

The first part of the episode was way too fast for me but seems they found a balance in the second part. I hope the pace for this season is slowed down a little. Let shokugeki stand on its own merits without the pointless contrast to a series that has almost nothing in common other than being in the same magazine and age group, especially when the series is like right behind a pretty infamous stretch of the manga that has led to it tanking in weekly rankings which it has yet to survive, these kind of dick measuring comparisons just end up backfiring hard when the show you put on a pedestal reaches a rough patch. |

Great start. It's like the anime never even left... Wait a minute. Anyway, it's still as good as ever. At least the show's been consistent so you can kind of expect a fanservice scene every time food is involved. It's really not a bad thing in my opinion. Because they never feel like they detract from the overall experience. The anime is still fun and exciting and just grabs your attention even if you couldn't care less about becoming a chef. The fanservice is the big dividing point of course but I'm glad JC Staff knows when to use them and in fact, control its usage. And most impressively of course, since the anime can move so fast without it feeling rushed (again, props to JC Staff), the fanservice never seems to compromise the overall story. There is rarely a dull moment in this show and that's what makes me want to come back to it. Of course, there are other reasons but that's secondary. Let's just hope we don't get ourselves in another painfully unsatisfying cliffhanger again. It's time to see some epic cooking battles. ^_^ |

Certainly doesn't help that (I'm assuming) the focus this season will shift more towards Erina... she's always been one of my least favorite characters in the entire anime :| O well, this week's dish was, as usual, pretty nice and actually somewhat cleverly made. Hopefully this arc is gonna be better than I feel it will be. Yeah I second this, and the comment another poster made about this arc feeling pretty lame. The last event I was really hyped for in SNS was the Chinese dish at the festival which I really enjoyed. This arc just seems very lacklustre and a real yawn, I get its a way to get Erina onside but then I preferred it when the two were antagonists. Weirdly instead of upping the ante and getting me more invested, the shadowy corporate masterminds are pretty dull. I hope this arc gets better but I wonder if it will, I haven't read the manga - and this forum is SUPPOSED to be for the anime only not discussion of the manga - however it seems there's a lot of discussion over the arc so I'm willing to bet its a problematic one. |

Beautiful. Wonderful. Perfect. A phenomenal way to start the new season. After all this time, Erina has been a character that's been hard to like, but now that we get to understand what it was like for her as a child, she's much more likable. This episode conveyed perfectly why Erina's father's way of cooking is wrong, it was wonderfully illustrated through Soma's cooking. Still wondering why this is called "Food Wars" when it should be called "Soma gets the Ladies Wet". Still so happy this is back. |

For the love of all that is holy, please read the manga. There is nothing of substance or interest about this adaptation. After Season 1, the decline was obvious in quality, but even the first cour of season 3 didnt look this horrendous. They did absolutely nothing interesting with the medium of anime here. It was just stills and slow moving shots. None of the moments left any impact like they did in the manga. J.C messed up big time here. |
