I loved this series so much. I have to admit migi grew on me so much that I like him at the end despite viewing him as an apathetical nuisance to shinichi at the beginning. He’s one of my favorite characters in this show along with izumi.

One thing i must talk about is how some people talk about origin of parasites being left unknown which creates a plot hole. To me though, this is not a plot hole. I’d much rather have this ending where the prasite’s origin is left ambiguous and perceived as a creation of an omnipotent being who brought them forth to balance the ecological system and neutralize humans as part of the supernatural fiction of this story. Giving a bullshit and convulted so called scientific theory behind their existence would have taken away from it imo. Some things are better left ambiguous in the horror and supernatural genre.I agree that kana’s arc with the weakest but still was enjoyable though.

Ahh I loves this series very much. So much more than I thought I would. I really didn't expect it to go the way it went and I'm
Glad it didn't. I'm going to miss watching this.
At first I thought migi was gross now I think he's my favorite character haha.
And I was going to flip out if Murano died. I would probably be really upset. Not really because I love murano...even though I did quite like her. No clue why everyone hates her. I thought she was a good character...but that would have just been unfair to shinichi. He would have probably gone crazy. Losing his mom, migi and then his girlfriend? That would have been so sad. So I'm glad it didn't happen.

Overall I loved it and I'm sticking with a 9/10

I would've been so pissed if Muran had died in the last 3 minute sof this show...

It started off quite promising, but imo the story just went nowhere at times. They had some interesting characters available but failed to let them do interesting things. The last few episodes were just meh overall.

So for all the downs and highs I experienced, I still feel like it was worth watching. 6/10

I just finished my rewatch after not having watched it since it originally aired. Really really great stuff, totally forgot how good it was.

This finale episode must have been one of the best and satisfying ones I ever saw. For some reason I thought Murano died (at possibly 3 points - where other humans died) but Im glad it was a happy end.

But I cant help the feeling that it could have been a bit more fleshed out. It had a really great and unique setting, I wish it would have been a bit longer.

8/10, the OST was definitely worthy of a 9 or even 10

Shinichi never fail to annoy me, even the last episode he still had to ditch his girlfriend to go and become a superman. It's stupid to leave your beloved person alone to chase a madman. Still, a wonderful story and it reminded me of resident evil 4.

So Shinichi still managed to graduate from high school, lucky for him. But his lucks end when he took the university entrance exam.

Lol Uragami talking about being ignored by the society, yet he didn't realize who thrown him into the jail.

Welp, I think the author gonna make a sequel since there's some big plot holes. But considering the last time the author finished the manga, that's all there's to it I guess.

Great ending! i read a lot of comments about wanting an ending with murano dead and after rewatching it i noticed something "weird":
what if shinichi actually never caught murano? there is this scene right after murano says something along the lines of "you did what you did because you are shinichi-kun" where people come in the roof and one of them say " oh my god! there are 3 people on the floor!"
...what? i count 5: shinichi, murano, the killer and his 2 victims from the scene before when he got to the roof.
but wait! there is more: right after they said 3 people were on the floor, shinichi says "3?" to which murano answers, with a laugh: "yeah, they think we are dead"

And so i came up with this theory: murano fell and shinichi failed to grab her. after realising that he had lost what was his most important thing in the world and that migi will never be back as well, he jumps off the roof.
you can think of the "dream" sequence where migi speaks to shinichi and murano as the reason why he jumped: it was time, as a human being, for him to dedidace some time to his heart, and hold his true love forever.

Well, that person said "There are three people on the ground there, too!" so he mentioned only about Shinichi, Murano and Uragami, not about that other two people.

Again, this person thought they were dead because Shinichi and Murano were lying on the ground and didn't move.

Cool the message that was passed by Shinichi in this final episode but, THE END WAS HORRIBLE, HOLY SHIT!
It was a masterpiece the entire anime but sinned in the end. I expected something much more impressive, but this episode just seemed like another episode.

>"I think it's human arrogance to think we understand how other life forms feel."
I love this thought!

>"What drives us is simply self-gratification."
>"So in the end, it's hypocritical for us to love Earth without loving ourselves."
This lines up with what I always think. Anything human does is first and foremost for our benefit.

Not really a fan of this series from ep 10 onwards, particularly ep 10, 12, 20 and a lot of other parts where it make no sense. I also dislike the fact that they neglect the consequences of the extermination. However, the theme about human nature is interesting. Migi and Shinichi are both good characters. Migi eventually chose to "sleep" to focus on understanding what he already knew and give Shinichi a normal life.

I think the show could have been better, but it's still enjoyable most of the time. In the end, an okay 6/10.

Finally done, the ED fits so perfectly. Some things are left unanswered, like with Kana's ability. So Migi is still there. 30% of him are still in Shinichi right, is he still superhuman? Murano looks better without that hair clip, which exposes her forehead.

Anyway, I enjoyed watching this. One of those anime where I have to take a break every episode and reflect on it. Like I said, some things were left unanswered, could've been better. 8/10.

Let's talk about the cover(?). We have Shinichi in the middle, Tamiya in the left, Gotou at the far back and Murano in the right. Her two friends behind her, why are they there? They didn't do anything, especially the short girl. Only thing glasses girl did is indirectly killing students in their school.

Interesting to see that there were no more cases with parasites involved. I guess what Shinichi said was true. What happened at Hirokawa acted as an deterrent and the parasites had to adapt even more.

Why do you have to go Migi? That made me so sad. After all what happened I liked Migi more and more ;_;

Shinichi looks different with his new hair cut but his realtionship with Satomi seem to work well :)

Fucking Uragami. When Shinichi saw him I knew something would happen. For my taste it was almost to dramatic. If something would had happen to Satomi I would have lost it. I also think Migi helped Shinichi in this situation, because Satomi was definitely out of range for him. Well played Madhouse. Just scaring everyone in the last moments of the last episode.

A lot of thing which got mentioned I can definitely agree with.

Overall I enjoyed Parasyte so much. Very likeable characters, fantastic OST, interesting plot etc.
Like many others I also have question which unfortunately didn't get answered, like where did the parasites came from? Why were they send to the earth? But besides from that it was a lot of fun.

I will never forget Migi :)

That was..... okish at best.

Second half was the main problem (except for Tomura Reiko scenes).
Many wtf and random moments.
MC waving from badass to an ordinary guy and vice versa.
Pace felt off some times.
Romance was bad I couldn't feel the connection between those two.

The only interesting character was Tomura Reiko followed by Migi.

Overrated anime. Truly overrated.

6/10 maybe 5/10

Man, this series hooked me in the beginning, but it just got weaker and weaker, and then ended like this.

What was the point of this episode? Because it really wasn't necessary. It could've ended at episode 23 and while not too great, wouldn't have gone even more downhill with this unnecessary episode.

The environmental message is very out of place. The overall message felt like that of Earth Maiden Arjuna, with the whole, we're all connected with each other and the earth thing.

Several times I thought I got what the show was trying to say about morality and the need to kill, but I can't get a firm hold on it. Until I do, I can't really rate the anime.

I mean, I guess I can throw out some ideas:

-Shinichi and Migi can be said to represent humanity's capacity for positive emotions and the logical need for self-preservation, respectively. Their relationship and Shinichi's growth is about finding the balance between the two.

-Migi's development can be said to represent the hope that humanity can do some good instead of just doing stuff for its own benefit.

-Goto's whole design is a metaphor for how living beings can coexist with one another as part of a whole, but when the individual desire for self preservation kicks in, the whole falls apart.

-You have some Ghibli-esque talk about the earth spawning predators to eat up humans that are disrupting the balance of the ecosystem.

-You have a denial of humanity as inherent monsters because they ultimately have the capacity to love one another.

-I think it's saying that it's stupid to do things for the earth, because ultimately you're also doing it for yourself, and that's OK. One must love humanity and the earth as a whole. Better explained than Earth Maiden Arjuna did.

-There's a whole tug between self-preservation and self-sacrifice, which Shinichi struggles with at the end of the show. Parasyte makes a point to say self-sacrifice is really hard and it's ok to go for self-preservation, as demonstrated when Shinichi opts to kill Goto instead of adhering to some notion of respecting nature.

EDIT: Looking back I don't think all of this comes together in a good package. A lot of it felt really preachy, especially towards the end, and there was a lot of childish posturing about rationality vs emotion. The idea that humans are just lower on the food chain or that they deserve some kind of retribution for damaging the earth is ridiculous because the level of consciousness of humans is far above any other species so you can't equate them to cows or pigs. Not disagreeing with environmentalism, but the way its espoused here is clumsy. Though Ghibli was quite preachy, it smooths it over with abundant charm and heart, which this series is unable to do.

Great show, if the second half was as good as the first I'd definitely give a 10/10.
And i'm very happy for Murano, but also very sad for Kana, liked both of them in their own ways. At least one short haired won to go against the odds.
My enjoyment on the first half was enough not to lower the overall score so, 9/10.

With the episodes showing parasytes running for places of power in the community, I just kept thinking, this could easily go on for several seasons. Being more than halfway through the only season, I was worried it might be rushed.

Just watched the last episode today. Well... the last 3 episodes. Felt everything. And I'm so glad for the ending. It was crazy and had me on the edge of my seat. Then, it was wonderful. I want to revisit this series in the future.

Ahh. This anime was great for me. It really showed how rotten we are as humans, and how parasytes were the "lesser evil". The deaths were really unexpected, and the overall theme of the story was well-written and executed. Characters were developed subtly, leaving very little room for mistakes. I also enjoyed how Migi and Shinichi inter-changed in character development, as Migi slowly became humanized while Shinichi slowly became less empathetic and started losing himself; it really reminded my of HxH where Gon and Killua went through similar development.

Overall, this show was good, but it's slow beginning and plot-progression prevents it from being a masterpiece for me.

Verdict: 8/10, much better than Tokyo Ghoul.

Meeting Uragami again... that was quite the ending though.

To be able to control ourselves is as much human (not referring to the society's image of human) than to let our desires become reality. To control ourselves is a desire in itself.

That was quite the tense situation with Uragami holding a knife. I really liked how Shinichi has changed throughout the series and now came to his own conclusion. Migi being something like a guardian angel for Shinichi.

Murano gathering her courage like that really showed her love for Shinichi and the beliefs she values! Glad everything turned out nicely for Shinichi at the end. A 9/10 as this was simply really enjoyable.

It's a really great show! I actually enjoyed the 2nd half a bit more than the 1st.

I also loved the end! And to all these "edgy" kids telling Murano should've died, gimme a f* break! There are tons of anime out there with tragic endings... if you don't know, a tragic ending can be as cliche as a happy ending!

Overall, a solid ending albeit slightly out of nowhere with the Uragami stuff. The final quarter was weaker than the previous 18 episodes but overall, I enjoyed this rewatch more than I expected. Definitely expected the show to have aged poorly for me but no, it's still got it. In fact, I like Murano's character a lot more now, although I did like her even during the first watch which seems like a minor percentage. And of course, Shinichi, Migi and Reiko were all really good characters too and the stars of the show overall. Good stuff.

8/10 overall.
