It's not much different from a battle harem series. The titles I mentioned had loan words from languages other than English; たばこ comes from Portuguese tabaco not English tobacco and 珈琲 comes from Dutch koffie not English coffee, etc. ビア indeed comes from English beer but ビール comes from Dutch/German bier. The English words sound rather different from the Japanese in these cases—and there's no etymological reason to use them. (Otherwise, thanks for the corrections.) |

What's the reasoning behind this? Even though the title of those manga are romanized they have a katakana reading for them displayed above the title when printed, thus that's the Japanese title. I put the katakana readings in parenthesis to act as the same method. Some of the examples I listed have a different reading entirely then the romanization, Hunter X Hunter excludes the X in the katakana pronunciation. Plus for anime entries the database will often display just the Japanese title though the title is romanized There is even examples such as Naruto where its manga entry is listed in the same method I stated to be used Having a word in all caps doesn't need to be a separate entry for displaying as a different language, it seems pointless. |

| May I ask why this was done? They were published in different places as noted in the Background section of the novel. They also have different chapter counts, with the new one being longer. While almost everything from the first version was the same as the first volume of the new version, the last chapter of the first version is different from the new one. The first one has an epilogue titled "Player" which isn't present from the new version. Is that not enough to distinguish it as a different version? Here is the ToC of the first version and here is the ToC of the new version. |
