If I have 3 or more friends that have rated something >2 above their average than I will usually watch it. Found a number of hidden gems this way. Not only that I can get a quick read on recently completed seasonal using the Stats section on a titles main page and gauge whether its worth a look or not. If I didnt filter my friends I'd cheapen the value of this resource. |

| Usually, I accept all friend requests. I might look at their Animelist/Mangalist but their ratings don't influence my decision. Sometimes when it looks like I could converse with someone about similar taste, I send out a fr. A great feature linked to your friends is that you can quickly see updates of your friends, I've set that on 5 items because it might inspire me. |

| As long as someone doesn't set off any red flags (which hasn't happened yet), I accept all friend requests The ones I'm most happy to receive are ones from people I've actually interacted with, but most FRs I receive are from random users. I don't even know how they found my profile for the most part, TBH, lol As for sending requests, I've only done that twice. Once to my IRL best friend for reasons that are probably obvious and once to the user I'd say I probably interact with the most on the site |

| I barely interact with any of my MAL friends anyway, as I mainly use this site for listing and database purposes, not so much as a social platform. So, i pretty much just accept every request I get out of courtesy. Though I do at least take a quick look at their profile before accepting, just to check if it seems legit and not like some bot/alt troll account. |

| I very rarely send any friend requests, although it's definitely possible if I see someone with similar tastes and he/she seems nice. But I'd try to strike up a conversation first instead of just randomly sending one. Similarly, I only accept friend requests if the user has bothered to try to initiate a conversation with me first or if our tastes are very similar. |

I just like to have a wide pool of other people's ratings, it helps me to decide what to watch next and to keep track of trending anime since I stopped watching a great amount of seasonal series. |
