The pacing was reaaally slow this episode. It felt like I was watching DBZ. shoutouts to my boy Carlos for being Sonic the hedgehog. he even jumped when he got to home base! way 2 cool. |

Yo this whole game was so slow. I felt like they could have easily made that game 5 episodes and the emotion would still have been there. During each episode of this game, I felt like 2 or 3 things would happen and the rest of the episode would be reaction and flash backs. Don't get me wrong, I am all for character development which this show is great at but this was just ridiculous. |

I see a lot of people complaining about pacing... (Not even just for this match but for the entire show) To solve your problem: Save the entire match for one day and marathon it, like me. The only time when it got really "slow" was in the 9th inning where it was dragged out. |

Pure garbage. what a huge waste of time. It would be easier to accept this result if seido was new team or an underdog, but they were on the same level as inashiro, and they had already lost to inashiro the year before that. If they wanted to make seido lose to extend the story then they should have lost at kyoshin, not to inashiro. |

If you want to do something like this piece of crap, at least do brilliantly like Haikyuu!! What the fuck. I am pissed off. Shit, shit, shit, FUCKING SHIT. I hope in the next season in their baseball team or whatever the fuck you call it they team up a super overpowered team because I am tired of this losing bullshit. FUCKING PISSED OFF, REALLY. What the fuck. I can't believe in this crap. And this is off-topic but since you brought it up, I call bullshit on them Haikyuu's third years deciding not to graduate No, it's called cliche since every team in sports anime - guess what - loses in the end. And it's not like their team was bad or just got together, NO. So in DnA the third years will leave? Cool. No, not really. Or is there another championship? It's not cliche since they can only win or lose, its 50/50, there are only two options so either one would have seemed cliche to those who have the same thought process as you do. Yes I will admit I am upset that they dragged this out for them to only lose. I didn't even want to comment about it because I am so disappointed. I went ahead and read the manga and I'm not really feeling this anime anymore, which is shocking because I really liked it. Well hopefully I will find a reason to continue, I don't like to drop anime so yea. |

I didn't feel like this was dragged out at all. I love how for almost every episode of this match, I felt the tension and was always looking forward to the next episode. I didn't even think about the length of this match, it was that incredible for me. I mean okay yeah, now that I realize from other's comments that this was an 11(?) episode match, pretty much almost a regular one cour, I guess it's considered long. But idk, after watching so many episodes, it just feels like normal length, if that makes any sense. And I can't believe there were people calling Eijun a coward or emo =_= really now? Sorry Eijun acts like a normal human. Other people already responded so I don't need to elaborate on this... I love the prolonged silences in this episode (and I guess in this series overall), there's minimal to no noise (maybe the heart beat sounding drums) and basically just panning, but it's so intense that I unknowingly hold my breath! But ending though was the worst thing ever. They were all pumped up and didn't give up, but then all of the sudden they just lost. There was no build up, it was just excitement to despair. I'm not super mad about it I guess because I read this part over a year ago, but even then I just thought, well that really sucks but that's life. |

I understand people are frustrated to see them lose, I am too, but guys it's not "cliche" or "stupid" like come on, the author only has 2 options and either one would've caused trouble, if they won here they had to lose at the first round of Koshien, because the team is just not strong enough to win Koshien. That's the whole point of this match, to show Seidou's weakness. Seidou has great team with amazing batters but their problem, which has been stated since episode 2 or something, is that they lack an ace pitcher. That's why they had to lose against Inashiro which is led by Mei, to show how important it is. Yes, Mei did give up runs but in the end what really hurt Seidou was their own ace's and their inability to keep up their amazing pitching because 2 of them are 1st years and the other 2 have major problems as well. Furuya's stamina/control, Tanba's (extreme) lack of confidence + previous injury, Eijun's lack of control and inexperience with pressure and Kawakami's mental strength (or lack thereof). Really from a story point of view it should've been obvious Inashiro would win because they -their ace, Mei- went through the exact same situation one year prior and overcame that hurdle. That is not to say I'm not frustrated/extremely disappointed they lost, especially since they spend so much time expanding on the 3rd years as characters and now they won't ever be able to go to Koshien, but story wise it's not a "stupid" or "losing just for the heck of it" kind of loss, it has a purpose to show the viewers that they're still lacking and they have to work hard on it in order to go to Koshien next year. |

Awful pacing this episode. Almost half the time was spent on everyone's reaction, not the best way to handle the tension imo. I'm just glad the game ended here. If I had to go through another after this I would have been mad. Despite already knowing the outcome, the game was still very exciting overall. It's hard to be upset about Seido losing probably since I already knew .-. Though it's sad when you remember the 3rd year players, some of which really grew on me, will be leaving after that :< |

Truly disappointed. They should have reached the first round of the nationals at least. So sad the third years haven't achieved their goal and now disappear. After 62 episodes you got to know them so well and they have become so important that this lost really annoys me. I doubt I can simply accept new first years or a new captain (no one can replace Yuki) It's a pity. |

I find the constant pan in to Sawamura funny for some reason, he had that devastated look on his face all the time, lol. As for the game, well, to be fair Daiya no Ace never had great game to begin with, all the games rely most if not all on how cool the characters performed, not actual technical side of the game, at least that's the case for me. There were a lot of CIS / PIS as well, especially in this Inashiro game. Seido is only losing just for the sake of losing, that's how it felt. People should not be disappointed in the sports genre, because there are a lot of gems out there, while some may have followed the same cliche (losing before reaching dream), at least it's executed much better, it actually feels real, and you actually feel for the characters, not getting forced to feel for them. R.I.P. Seido. |

That's life people. Everyone has big dreams but not everyone reaches them. This is actually less cliche than most. Like what about the all famous KnB? Pretty much every sport team that has lost in anime, has a second chance with exactly same members. In a way this is a first where a team will change and not have a second chance. While I'm not big fan of this series, this is in a way a plus for me. Though episode was way too dragged. They repeated same thing 20 times. Like yeh I know you won't give up, just do something already! |

Guy is bloody annoying and while you get to see he too suffers from the pressure, that still didst save his character from the Scrappy heap to me at the very least. That's life people. Anyway i'm not so pissed at that they lost since as you said that's reality than that i'm pissed that most of the cast I liked just got the boot. Seriously, outside of the starting line up members none of the second years and first got any character development. Most of the 62 episodes developed characters are cut. So yeah, i'm gonna finish the season and hope something good happens but really my interest in this show just got a big hit. This is not a bad anime though, I just dont agree with the decision that got made this episode. All in all it [was] an intense match and kuddo's for not having super skills but actually make it realistic be it through their depiction of plays and the mental pressure. I personally enjoyed Kuroko no basket AND Slam Dunk so i can agree with both sides of the emotional and realistic spectrum, just for the record. |

First off, like most people here, I'm extremely frustrated about this outcome. However, my only complaint is not directed towards the author's decision (from a storytelling point of view, this is the way to go, imo). My one problem here is the pacing. Now, I like suspense, but if you overdo it, you kill the effect, it's not suspenseful anymore, it's just freaking annoying. They did manage to have me holding my breath the entire time... but that's probably my fault for getting too emotionally invested. Also, hating on Kawakami makes no sense, the others wouldn't have done better in his position. Give the kid a break. Animefanx3 said: I understand people are frustrated to see them lose, I am too, but guys it's not "cliche" or "stupid" like come on, the author only has 2 options and either one would've caused trouble, if they won here they had to lose at the first round of Koshien, because the team is just not strong enough to win Koshien. I completely agree with everything, nothing to add. On a side note, the last sports anime I watched before this one did not go for the 1st tournament defeat (and I like Daiya way better btw)...And if it were that cliche and obvious there wouldnt be so much frustration in this thread...(but I guess the anime pacing is also to blame for that...I'll give you that one.) Now if you excuse me I have a pillow that needs to be cried on. |

Man I KNEW this was going to happen. Its the familiar pattern for every sports anime, they have to lose a game before getting the glory. Its an attempt to get respect for your story. The problem is this isn't freakin' Ashita no Joe. Its just a crappy old anime we watch for light entertainment. And news flash, I'm not sure many people enjoyed watching a 12 episode game with 4 episodes building up to it just to lose. And even worst now Sawamura is probably gonna get the yips or some shit and spend 12 episodes working through that. This just isn't acceptable for cheap entertainment. Want to have the team lose? Fine. Just don't waste all our fucking time when you know damn well you can't write for shit and you're just following the cliches in order to make money. |

When I started this anime I had high hopes for it. But now I'm just disappointed! Even though I could see this outcome from the other end of the earth, I still had some hope that it wouldn't come to this. Why? Why can't we have an anime where the team makes it to Koshien and then show us some games from the nationals? Why not make a anime about a team that actually wins the nationals? Because it's not interesting to watch a team that isn't an underdog? Or because the best an underdog team can do is only make it to the nationals? And WTF happened to Sawamura? Wasn't he scouted because of his aggressive nature and easy going attitude? He breaks down after almost every run he gives up! I know it isn't easy to pitch in those kinds of situations, but this is just to much! |

I was already spoiled , because apparently posting a spoiler in another sports anime doesn't count as a spoiler, so I knew this was coming though I had hoped the loss would be in the Nationals instead of losing to these pricks. This loss wouldn't have been so aggravating if they didn't hype up the game so much, make it last a crap ton of episodes, pad it with flashbacks and then raise a bunch of lose flags towards the end. All the stalling and buildup for 10+ episodes just for a loss to a team full of cocky brats? That's pretty bad. I've seen a fair amount of sports anime and this has got to be the worst way to make a team lose their first tournament. |

It was so fucking expected and convoluted that they were gonna lose... From the moment we got to see Mei's background and the difference between him and Sawamura (having gone through guilt and defeat), the game was finished for me. This was cemented a bit after by the pseudo-journalist comparing the two, saying how Sawamura reminds him of Mei one year earlier. From that point on, the rest of the game felt flat and tasteless, and the moments supposed to be tense just reminded me of DBZ slowmode... The last three episodes were excrutiatingly dragged. I have not much to say against this show, it's not original but it does things correctly. That's the first big slip-up for me (excluding the stupid background of that btting prodigy with a scar...) Two factors that are making this worse is that to me the opposing team and their background felt bland as hell, like Mei is really an obnoxious character, and the fact that we'll get the usual psychological fear from Sawamura, like "I'm too afraid of hitting someone, I can't throw coorectly anymore"... This show has taken a turn for the worse sadly. |

The good thing about this part was that the series made a interesting side by side comparison between Sawamura and Mei ,where although they are quite similar as characters Mei was the one that also backed his words up and achieved the status of being the teams ace ,played the entire match and had the entire teams trust and recognition. So all that arrogance presented up to this point was easily backed up,whereas Sawamura was mostly considered a joke by most of the team and easily flopped under pressure, basically the exact opposite of Mei when it came to playing on the field. Needless to say this should all have been presented much earlier, and not 70 episodes into a series... |

Yeah, I kind of expected that, but damn, it still hurts like a bitch. sigh I guess it's about time this became more like a cliche sports anime.. Now I assume it's gonna go into this huge arc about how Sawamura feels guilty for the loss, and how he's gonna get all depressed and the he's finally able to forgive himself and he returns to the mound better than ever. Let's see if I called it. |

The pacing is so bad. So damn slow. Honestly, I wouldn't have minded them losing if it was just a pure loss. Yet the whole team legit choked. Wtf happened with Eijun? Why is Seidou being mentally crushed, they also have people who spent 3 years to get here, and people\e who have been working hard. Yet this whole episode felt like Seidou was playing like complete trash. I would've preferred if Eijun was on the mound and the team got legit beat with him on it. Seidou always had amazing fielding, masa should have been an easy out. I knew this was going to happen, but I didn't expect the reason it happened to piss me off so much. |

the one who lost the game was the coach, why the fuck did he put weakling Nori to pitch such important moment lol. it's 1 more out left. ONE out. just send Furuya who already rested well enough and strike out any of their batter before they get used to his speed again. they only need ONE out. stupid coach. but carlos def the mvp this game, he is just way too good. |

I was expecting this result but it was still hard to watch. It felt like Inashiro was much better at dealing with the pressure compared to Seidou. You’d think Seidou would be more used to pressure after the tournament so far compared to Inashiro who had a much easier time but whatever. Next episode is going to have a lot of feels. |

Wow it's a long time since i was THAT mad about anime. So disappointed. So broken. Tetsu deserved better. It's a bullshit because they lost with Inashiro twice in the row, like seriously??? No revenge after first loss in semi finals and small chance to avenge the team for this loss a year later 'cause Seidou will be so much weaker without the third years... At least that's how i feel... And Mei in his last year... He will probably will be a beast... I'm so mad... How the will go to the Koshien next year?? Because now it feels impossible... Team is losing so many important players... I literally cannot imagine how they will deal without them... But it will be the last year for Miyuki... I will be heartbroken if he won't be able to reach Koshien with Sawamura... :( Also people are right when they are saying the pacing was bad,it really was too slow, after watching perfectly balanced Haikyuu i really felt that. |
