Only continued to watch this for the sakuga scenes. Story is pretty much nonexistent and the humor was awful at times.

Don't understand how some people think of this anime as average and give it below a 7. Only thing I can guess is that they are casual anime watchers who can't understand anime since they don't have a good reason to give it lower than a 7.

Well that was really funny anime. Animations were well-done, music as well. At first I thought that it will be pretty mediocre. Hovewer it was big surprise. 7-8/10... Oh okaaaay 8/10 ; D.

I enjoyed the anime a lot. I also enjoy the manga and the web manga a lot. My approach to all three is that I don't think of them as "fighting" series but as "satire" series. So while there is a lot of the spirit of "Dragon Ball" in the One Punch Man, I feel that there is an equal amount of the spirit of "Dr. Slump" in it. Arale in "Dr. Slump" is waaaay overpowered but just wants to have fun, and so everything she does is because it is fun for her - just like Saitama.

BTW - for those folks who aren't familiar with "Dr. Slump", there are even a couple of crossovers in that series where Arale meets up with Goku and she holds her own nicely against him without going all out.

So all-in-all, I feel that the original OPM author One has done a very good job of taking a "what if" concept and turning it into an entertaining web comic that has become an equally entertaining manga, that has now been turned into an equally entertaining anime by Madhouse.

it ticks all the boxes of being 'turn ur brain off and enjoy'

I loved it! The excitement I had before it started airing was definitely worth it. I didn't see anything wrong with it and found it almost perfect. The hype surrounding it was a little much but it's not like it's going to damper the anime itself for me. From the start it had me laughing and excited with every episode and it didn't have too much of a "read the manga" ending. I hope it gets a second season but knowing madhouse idk. For now though it was exactly what I wanted in every way.

Eh. The last episode was a bit disappointing. After the Saitama vs. Genos sparring I thought this would be a memorable fight sequence.

As for the series as a whole, it was okay. The plot was quite lackluster and while some of the side characters were interesting, we didn't get to see much development of them or Saitama. There was some good comedy near the beginning, but it mostly grew stale afterwards. The ending is also a bit of a disservice in that the few developments we did get (with Saitama) won't see any fruition.

Fortunately, I was curious enough to check out the manga. I think the series works just as well or better there, and what I've seen of the bonus chapters add additional substantive developments to the series as well. For now, I'm planning on following along.

Sometimes simpler, more dynamic choreography works better.

Why would anyone expect this from an anime that's literally about winning in one punch?

I know Floats already answered, but I was a bit disappointed with it as well. I thought Saitama vs. Genos was more entertaining due to attack evasion and more dynamic movement from both sides, whereas Saitama just tanked all of the attacks in this rather than bothering to evade.

Also, just because a fight is centered around one punch doesn't mean it can't have good choreography. It's not my intention to compare the shows in general, or even necessarily the context, but just for an example of what I mean:

Boros was really cool i wish saitama spared his life thinking he will get stronger and fight again someday

In the ending you can see him complaining that he one punched the pig dude so he really needed to spare Boros for round 2

One Punch Man was certainly fun to watch this season. It would be silly for Madhouse to not produce a second season since this series would bring so much blu-ray/merchandise sales very easily. + Murata is willing to crank out more chapters to catch up with the ONE version now. We'll see, Madhouse is not really the type of studio to make another season of a bunch of series.

THAT's what I expect from the old man. No way something like that would kill him.

lol that despaired face of Saitama when he interrupted Boros. He must be really disappointed or really fucking annoyed by the speech.

sooo are we not going to know what happened to Saitamas ranking? This was a nice end - why would they do that...

haha that final scene xD Finally we got some of the Saitama in the beginning back. The one that got actually annoyed by how strong he is. Still - the bad taste of not knowing if they recognized Saitama as the one that finished Boros is still there >.>

Lol moderation sure is overkill here now. Have there been mod increases since MAL got bought out?

Anyway, I know it's kind of makes one punch man, one punch man - but the complete lack of any glory to the fights really spoils them for me. If saitama doesn't get insta promoted to s rank after this fight, rages will be had.

Tbqh I don't agree with you, Boros is on completely another level related to Genos and it's quite easy to see that non serious Saitama fought back at first but it was eventually overwhelmed by Boros moves until he got serious

I though this fight was better, the parallels they put in to the first episode were pure gold as well

This last episode was epic, that fight :D I love how Saiatama doesn't show his weakness or that those punches hurt etc..
This guy is unbeatable xD I hope there will be a 2nd season because i'm starting to read the manga right now hah
That Tatsumaki vs Genos scene ahahaha I laughed so hard ahahahaha
When Saitama started cheering for Genos to beat Tatsumaki ahahahaha "he was like go go teach her" hahaa omg i love this anime
10/10 one of the best animes of this season/year.

Yeah I know I get that and him not caring is fine, it's a plus even. But the running gag of him defeating enemies behind people's backs can't last forever surely? just irritating that every fight ends with no one realizing he did anything. Gets old, it's all too coincidental and not funny anymore. Well Tornado saw him come out and claim to have beaten the boss, so if something doesn't come from this - then that's just disappointing.

To me, a good fight doesn't have to do with scale. Stakes can help with giving scale an epic sort of feeling, but the main thing that makes a fight entertaining in and of itself is movement. Flashy effects and the like are cool and all, but that's icing on the cake. Choreography is the core of what makes any fight scene visually impressive and entertaining, and since I was coming to this adaptation more for the fights and comedy than for the story, to not put more effort into the choreography in this final fight sequence seems like a disservice.

Honestly, I found the coreography to be quite on point on both sides, Saitama's moves and Boros special moves were all pretty awesome and involving but to each their own I guess

Well, the only thing I can say after reading and finshing the current webcomic is that it is a slow burn, Saitama gets more and more rec. after each arc

This episode had a very strong start, I had to repeat the running backwards scene multiple times along with the knee-kick, consecutive normal-punch and the star-RAWRING cannon. this was amazing fight i could even say the best in recent years (great job madhouse).
the moon scene was brilliant, if you paid attention you could see that he was testing the moon gravity so won't destroy it by mistake (gives you an idea how good saitama is at controlling his power) in any case his power is truly frighting.
AOTS no doubt about it.

To all the people saying that this anime is actually not that great for reasons such as:
-basic story
-simple characters
-etc...

You need to understand that you are holding it up to your own standards of what an anime should have in it and what makes an anime "good"

This anime is rated a 9.02 because it is well done in every aspect that it is going for.
I applaud Madhouse and all of the people who were part of the production process of this anime because it is amazing.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, It is fine for you guys to have your opinion(whether it be that you liked it or that you didn't like it) but it is not okay to go and say a completely irresponsible statement such as the anime itself is bad when the way you rate it is based off of any other standards other than what the anime itself instigates that it wants to be rated by.

When saitama one punched the sea king and serious punched boros i actually felt bad for him cuz even the serious punch was done almost effortless.Everyone is doing their best and pushing their limits while saitama is not allowed to feel like the rest of the supporting characters.

Now pls anyone name me a show where i felt bad for the mc cuz he is too strong ? Thats the selling quality of OPM for me the almost no one address.

AMAZING FINALE! That fight was incredible and Saitama is one of the greatest characters of the year!

I was seriously skeptical about watching this one in the beginning of the season, but THANKS to my friend Patrick convincing me that this was one anime I didn't want to miss, I added it to my list. OMG I am glad I didn't pass this up!

Here is hoping that a season 2 is announced soon!

Overall this is a 10/10 for me and also Anime of the Year and Anime of the Season. This one show gave me more enjoyment in one season than any of the others I have watched all year! Definitely picking this one up on blu-ray/dvd when it becomes available and reasonably priced!
So glad that I'm not a huge manga reader, because the manga readers WHINE WAY TOO MUCH and have to RUIN every adapted anime for the ANIME ONLY WATCHERS!
