THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Watched the first episode on NicoNico. It pre-aired today.

Hell, this was an explosive start. No less than 30 seconds into the episode and hell breaks loose in the city. Lol, didn't take long for our bald MC to land a punch already. Some of the characters introduced are oddly designed but I expected it.

Enjoyed the majority of the episode. There's some coloring that I thought that could of been better but was quite satisfying.

Fabulous! Saitama and the action delivered.

Nice to see Genos at the end too. Hoping for OP song next time but good episode.

So ripped

Don't bother if you don't know how special effects were done without computers.

Man, I can't believe this show adapted so damn good.

And from a publisher who new into anime industry, I won't surprise if they pour a lot of money into this show.

Hey, You use Windows 10? Great!
Wanna try Cafeine to simplify accessing your collections, or even your "collections"? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
No no no, you won't find it in the market, or even a store, no.

Try it first before others gotta get it publicly sooner or later!

Thank you.

I'm skipping some scene obviously because don't want to spoils further "full" enjoyment, but they add some scenes, and overall covers 4 chapters in one episode. Good pace for now, i think. And they extended a "dream" fight. Animation is looks similar for Dandy's(for obvious reason)- fast, smooth, and amusing, somehow.

Question. Are any of you bothered by the instances of "off model"/"deformed" or intentionally "messy" art in this episode or do you enjoy it?

As I wrote before, it gives a more comic effect. I think, it is a great choice of animation.

Only 2 of those scenes are technically flawed to a significant extent. Actually, the punch scene I linked is "crazier" than most of 167.

I like it. And as it was said in the link, this kind of "messy, off model" animation is unique to Kameda who did these sequences so you'll only see it in sequences done by him.

Awesome. Didn't disappoint imo. Saitama's voice is perfect. And his serious faces are epic! Sometimes he seems way more serious than I imagine him to be during the monologues but now that I think about it, he was like that at the start of the series monologuing about life and such XD

The monster designs look amazing. Love the detail. They don't disappoint being transferred from Murata's art.

Dat Dream tho. Poor Saitama, too OP to even have fun.

Lol'd at how the giant killed his brother and the fight against the aliens was pretty cool. Seeing Saitama being exhilarated about finally fighting a bit seriously was lots of fun.

Animation was awesome. I even liked the "messy off model" animation during the fast pace action. As long as they don't overuse it I'm fine with it. Just keep a good balance of detailed art and messy art and I'll be a happy man. Better than CG.

Probably 1-cour only since there's lots of fast-paced action in there and they probably won't surpass the redraw in materials covered. That's probably why they got ONE involved, to extend and add some scenes in-between the adaptation.

ufotable is great in terms of art, animation and detail, so UBW >>>> OPM

but you can't deny that

Madhouse is better in terms of fights, choreography and excitement, so OPM >>>> UBW.

Both have their good points but since this is an action-packed series, it's just the perfect show for Madhouse to show off their greatness.

Not a bad first episode. Lots of action and some funny moments, as expected. It looked pretty decent for the most part, but hopefully it'll look better when it's on TV.
Madhouse adapted 4 chapters, pretty much panel-for-panel, with a few added filler scenes. Hopefully they don't drop the ball, but I have faith it'll stay rolling.

Dunno why these studios and anime needs to be compared in a first place. Ufo doesn't have a around ten anime almost every year (some of them even exceed a 24-episode format). Ufo obviously have more resources, because their BD price is very high and they devoted himself almost only in Type-moon universe. Madhouse, on other hand, is a pretty daring studio, doing experimental things, like Death Parade or Parasyte.Ufo is also trying to do a side step, making a God Eater, which art and animation not everyone liked. I think studio, who is have most similarities with Madhouse, is Bones.

Madhouse delivers! That was quite the episode. Seems like they adapted half a volume with this episode, yet the pacing doesn't seems too fast at all. Maybe because the manga didn't much dialogue moments. That anime original grocery scene was awesome. I don't mind if Madhouse makes more anime-original scenes like the ones in this episode.

4 Chapters were adapted. I'm not sure if the next episode will adapt only the mosquito fight, or more, even up to Genos' visit. Bu the looks of the pacing of the first episode. This series just might be 1 cour (with a second season later if it's successful) because by this rate, 12 episodes might be equivalent to 5 volumes.

5/5 for this episode

Kinda underwhelming, maybe cause the animation wasn't high quality in the niconico rip (or maybe cause I was never really fond of the manga in the first place)?

I'm starting to have doubts that even with such sakuga animation and epic ost I'll like this (sadly).

Did like the fight against the underground people this episode though,it was pretty epic.

Can't wait to see the Boros arc, certain I'll like it more than I did in the manga.

"Detail" doesn't mean anything about the technical quality of a work, anyone who can pick up a pencil and use it on a piece of paper can make a detailed drawing. Same goes for having a high amount of frames.

UBW has a lot of poorly drawn horribly constructed faces

Takashi Takeuchi's terrible original designs and style might be to blame though.

I'm not the one who compares these two in the first place. I'm just replying to YEEART who seems baffled by the OPM >> UBW comparison when it's not all about Unlimited Budget Works.

Lol do you think UBW is the best looking anime or something ? I mean its one of the best (art wise not animation) but there is much better out there.

Also dont get me wrong the art of OPM is great but its nothing special (its impossible to create the fantastic manga art to the anime)

The anime isn't doing it in murata's redrawn style cause that's impossible and anyone who expect that is retarded no questions asked.
It has that ONE flavor
Original webcomic art XD

The villains in this show are pretty funny. Vaccine Man looked like a violet Piccolo lol and his name doesn't sound very intimidating. And that titan killed his brother as if he was swatting a mosquito. Saitama's upset at beating everyone with just one punch but I guess overwhelming power doesn't give him the chance to experience the thrill and challenge of fighting tough opponents.

Here I thought Saitama had a stronger villain to fight but it was all a dream. Nevertheless, impressive fight choreography against the underground people. And the huge difference between his dream and reality was funny.

I'm happy with how the episode turned out and this is probably going to be one of my favorite shows next season. This guy looks interesting. Hype.

It's good animation, very fluid and fast.
But some people will probably take not animated pictures of it and say it's bad.

Man, how fucking pretentious does someone have to be to say that they didn't like this episode at all? If you're one of those, you must be missing something.... like, on a human level.

Great adaptation of the first 4 chapters + they even had anime original scenes. It was all I ever wanted and even more. I was extremely worried about this at first so I was underhyped, but it blew my expectations out of the water. I hope Madhouse keeps this up.

Was chapter 0 adapted (basically Saitama at school?)
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...
