Was that some kind of sexual allusion, referring to the courtisan joke she had terrified the attendant with earlier? It is funny, because this exact scene and hand motion is in my forum avatar and as it turned out I just don't get what she is trying to pull with it. P.S.: Ok, after having thought about it I maybe get it now. She is hiding that part of her face that is usually masqueraded with freckles trying to make the bullies realise that she is actually the ugly girl they are talking about. |

| @CaptainKenshiro It was extremely clear though? Lishu (the 14y old concubine) is the mother in law to 35y old Ah-Duo. And she became such at age of 9. And one of meanings of hairpins will be cleared next ep. |

| The 9 year old with the former Emperor is disturbing, but not surprising for how things were back then. Maomao's expressions and reactions after ingesting poison is always amusing to watch. I'm still not fully onboard with the Maomao and Jinshi ship, but it's nice to see how much he genuinely cares for her. |

Gyokuyou's other ladies getting offended on behalf of the Maomao slander made them even more likable than they already were but it's kinda funny how pretty much every other concubine's party is mostly filled with jerks. Also, everything about the previous emperor and Lishu is bleak. Damn. |

I dont think the hand gesture meant anything obscene. I think it is actually a humble gesture but i dont know the exact meaning. She was using the hand gesture to hide from others the threatening expression she made as a reminder of a previous threat she had made.
