That's not that unconventional. 00 did it for the first season. Thunderbolt does it. I would argue WitP counts, as would 0083 and Zeta. But none of them do it the way IBO is currently going about it.
Only WITP and stardust count in those, 00 S1 is just a halfway point not the end, zeta had the protagonists win a super decisive victory over titans just with large causalities, alot of the consequences even get retconed in ZZ, thundebolt S1 wasnt even remotely close to the end of the manga and in no way its ending with the protagonists losing. I never said it was never done before hence why i compared it to WITP like you just did here a week back, they are both doing the same story structure in terms of the events happening though the morals are different.

Yea but here's the fucking thing:
That doesn't make for a good story. ESPECIALLY when you consider the last few episodes in the context of the ending of the first episode of season 1. If they're going to go that route, it works better when you do it with somebody that's not starting in the shittiest possible situation. It works better when you don't you don't put so much into the protagonists. It would have worked with McGillis, if they hadn't already set him up as a far more competent character in 1st season.
The entire point was they started from nothing, grew into something, then didnt know when to stop. Its not like they were screwed from the start they all made their death sentence by foolishly clinging to the pursuit of power. I'd understand this point had this all happened to them at the end of S1 when they only just gained any form of freedom, but this is much different. tekkadan was a legit force that wound up getting in over their heads when they could, and shouldnve stayed put with where they were and then payed the price because of it. Besides just cause you start out shitty doesnt mean your exempt from failure or consequences, it shouldn't be done to the point of torture porn but just cause a character is a good person or has a tragic background shouldn't exempt them from tragic ends/progressions.

Ok, I could buy that, if Iok and Carta weren't part of Gjallarhorn. Mostly Iok.
Not sure why you'd consider Carta on par with Iok, she was one of the more innocent characters on the enemy side in season 1. Besides i was referring to Rustal/Mcgillis, and the organization as a whole. They may give way to corruption but the organization also provides stability, we see tekkadan actually causing harm and counterproductive destabilization through their actions like how they illustrate in episode 1 of season 2. Its basically saying pick your poison, a stable government that doesnt treat people equally or a anarchistic power of mcgillis/tekkadan where the weak are left behind in favor of the stronger. Both bring harm to alot of innocents and the show never states one is better than the other.

Again, this would be less of a problem if it didn't feel so much like they were goaded into it because of all the shit that went down in the middle of the season.
Not sure what you mean there cause they weren't goaded into anything, they made a risky gamble by taking part in a conflict they wouldn't of been involved in had they not gone out of their way to join. Everything that has happened to them negatively this season has not been forced on them, it was all avoidable but they did not take it. Its also not like the individual couldn't leave when things got rough as the option of leaving tekkadan which takaki wisely chose to do.

It's a fucking toy commercial what's wrong with a bit of fetishization. But again this isn't something that Gundam has never attempted to do, it's not even something Gundam has never succeeded with before. It just falls really flat for me because the execution is so poor relative to everything up to this point. To my eyes, they essentially brought about the downfall by, out of nowhere, cranking up the idiocy level on a character who's capabilities were already quite clearly spelled out.
They had a good thing and they killed it so I can't help but be a bit :Reee: about the whole affair
Glorifying violence is a no no in any story that takes itself even the slightest bit seriously, toy commercial or not ibo takes itself very seriously and as result should be judged on those merits, all stories are meant to be a means of profit no matter the passion put into it just cause it advertises stuff gives it a pass in making a egregious writing sin.
As for the mcgillis failing when he was shown to be competent before, The show kind of beat the point over the viewer head that rushing into things only leads to a disastrous outcome and we saw a natural progression mcgillis speeding things up as time goes on due to the scenarios forced upon him. Its not like mcgillis just suddenly went dumb in the fight with rustal, the events of the mobile armor arc are what caused him to rush in unprepared. It was after that arc that he realized how cornered he had become by rustal after realizing gaelio is alive and could fuck up his plan right at the crucial moment, which is exactly what happened. You can go back to the scene in episode 13 of season 2 of him talking to his subordinate, he was basically put in the scenario of act now and get things done as fast as possible before gaelio reveals your actions and fucks up everything youve built up. He may of been a smug asshole about it cause hey it was mcgillis but rustal/gaelio forced his hand which is what led to his downfall. Hypothetically had gaelio not been alive mcgillis would of won since he'd of been able to gather more support from the different families and soldiers and actually of had the forces to defeat rustal. They lost cause they were undermanned dainslaifs or not.
The only idiot complaint i can see with mcgillis is not double tapping back in S1 which is a legit complaint i have about him, though i kind of feel better about it now after the newest episode revealed how conflicted mcgillis was killing galeio.
Frankly it was only after these past few episodes that the show has actually felt like everything actually feels like they've come together. theres build up for this type of end scattered throughout the entire series. Some of it just wasnt as noticeable until now. The death of biscuit back in S1 was massive foreshadowing to everything.
k ima give it til the last episode airs before I comes back and 'splains to you why that's wrong you piece of shit
That 9th episode of Go! Princess was a lot sillier than I expected it to be, but we got some fun scenes all the same.
>Haruka being able to eat that much
>Light romance hinting
>Close making the princess hand motion right back at Mermaid
>Pafu boasting about not being scared of ghosts
Plus another creative fight scene in terms of setting and perspective.
It's too bad we didn't get to see any of the girls dancing with a guy, though.
So uh, I'm catching up on IBO again and episodes 22 and 23 didn't go at all how I expected them to. These developments weren't even on my "unlikely scenario" radar.
Huh.
It's a super risky route to take the show. I'm not sure whether I like it or not yet.
Oh my, I really love the Go! Princess ED (Gokigenyou... Gokigenyou... Gokigenyou...)
Episode 4 was also a nice twist on the usual formula, with Kirara being kinda self-centered and unwilling to be a Precure despite possessing most of the qualities to become one.
EDIT: mfw Karl Lagarfeld in episode 5. Perfection.
EDIT 2: Didn't take long for Kirara to win me over, haha. She has a much kinder heart than what I initially gave her credit for.
Whoa. Go! Princess's 10th episode was a showstopper. Early in the episode I thought the highlight would be me getting to share this utterly memetastic screenshot, but after that it ended up developing into the best episode yet by far.
I honestly didn't think this iteration of Precure had it in it to pull off an episode like that so early, and episode 11 looks just as promising-- possibly even moreso.
The entire hidden area on the cliff was a really creative idea that fits the school setting and worked perfectly with the "dreams" theme. It's not too often that an anime manages to capture me with a sense of wonder, but I could feel it throughout the whole segment where the girls learned about the shining dream house.
It naturally made for a particurly menacing setup once Close found it. What was somewhat surprising is that it took the full extent of all three Precures' power to defeat it, hinting at a lot of potential growth going forward.
Add in Yui discovering who the three Precure are, Kanata discovering a new power he had been searching for, the obtainment of a new Dress Up Key, and Dyspear's wrath setting up a battle with Close himself in the next episode, and it was just a really excellent episode all around.
@Sapewloth Seems like Go! Princess may continue the trend of slamming you with the plot like a freight train when you least expect it.
My perspective of Kirara changed pretty quickly too.

I've rewatched that ep so many times, definitely one of my favourites.
JizzyHitler said: ok what the hell that extra puzzle/platforming dungeon in FFXV wasnt even bad, A couple sections were a bit clunky and maybe a bit too long(alot of fake stops) but it was overall a really cool genre shift from the rest of the game and a few parts genuinly surprised me.
Coincidentally I played that dungeon for about 70 minutes yesterday and got to the giant rotating yellow ball. I managed to get the treasures on the sides of the entrance (the ones with the red mask forcefields in front of them) but I dunno how to get the metal ball in the middle to launch. It's a genuinely well designed dungeon but it's hampered by Noctis' imprecise movements. I adore how much care was put into the animations but they make for some enervating platforming gameplay when you want to be as precise as possible.
I'm going to finish some post-game quests first before I get back to that dungeon.

the dungeon gets pretty wild after that point, there is only 1 section where noctis' movements get in the way for me, the rest worked well and the checkpoints as it goes on get really forgiving. The biggest issue i have is its just really long. I still have alot of post game stuff i never did that i want to try and finish up now that the dlc has motivated me to get into it again.
I am likley not gonna bother with the superdungeon though, its behind the big locked door in castlemark and it just sounds hellsih, You cant use any items at all. My friend went through it and while there is the saving grace of them spamming campsites for you to use it still sounds hellish. One of the borderline mandatory tips for it is every campsite eat that super expensive food from altisa.

Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me
aye, now I can marathon it with my Discord group. These CGDCT shows aren't so bad in small doses.
It's not CGDCT though.
It's CLDGAFDCLDT.
the fact that "And Fafnir" is the only thing that took me more than a second to figure out shows I've already gone off the deep end.
I'm starting to think I've mellowed out in the past year or two. I can't see 2015 me prioritizing Scissor Dragons over Gintama and Kaiji yet here we are.
ok the final episode of the new gintama series was excellent and got me so hyped for the final arc. This season definitely had tonal problems but it was still a good season that wrapped some things up and was a necessary set up for the final stretch. I am also much more ok with the main antagonist than I was before.
I think the episodes where the tone was consistent or not conflicting like the 2 flashback episodes and the final episode were excellent. But outside of those i do think the drama didnt work as well as the previous arcs had especially the shogun and shinsengumi arcs which kind of set the bar high. I do appreciate that this arc was pretty comedy heavy though even if it did mean tonal problems.

Go! Princess's 11th episode was a lot hammier than I expected.
Interesting development though. I didn't expect one of the puppetmasters to be completely defeated so early, and the show seems to be fully embracing Yui knowing about the Precure, with her learning pretty much everything else there is to know.
Not quite as good as episode 10, but a satisfactory follow-up.
The action element was surprisingly lackluster for such an important villain. Seeing that this has gotten some pretty good fights throughout until now, especially in regard to camera angles and unusual situations (e.g. fighting inside a room), that aspect was a bit disappointing.
god yugioh gx is such a fucking retarded show, its honestly endeering in how dumb it is unapologetically.
