Haven't read the manga, but has anyone pointed out that in the end, Connie, Reiner, Sasha and the others looked as if they were escaping?

I mean like they were riding on horses. Outside the walls. Without their gear and uniforms. Anyone else kinda find this strange?

there's a reason for this, in the manga. but one thing is, they were not outside the walls.

I was very satisfied with the ending and the anime as a whole. As a manga reader, I thought the adaptation was excellent (some parts I thought were much better done in the anime rather than the manga). I wouldn't explicitly call the ending a cliffhanger. I think the anime left it off at a nice place: it shows major potential for a second season, but it could also just be left with one season and the ending wouldn't be too bad. It shows that humanity will continue fighting against the titans, but there may never be positive outcome or even an outcome in general.

Overall, I'd give it a solid 10/10. Gorgeous animation, faithful to the manga, amazing music throughout, and just very well done on all levels.

Manga purists are NEVER satisfied ... seriously, I've never seen one post in the comments thread "Wow, that was a great improvement! They really adapted that really well!" Always with the "they altered panel 5 on page 23 of volume 43, RAAAAAGE". *smh*

Amazing animation, deep characters, killer fight scenes, dem OPs ... and one last mystery to wrap things up. Man I hope there's a season 2, even if it's just 13 more episodes. From what I've heard of spoilers I can't wait to see the other transforming Titans ...

Best anime of the year, I doubt anything in Fall will be able to top this. 10/10.

No not at all. I read the manga and I've never complained about changes. You're letting the opinions of a few people color your perception of all manga readers.

But that being said, I do think these changes are weird. This was supposed to be a point in Eren's development when he becomes more controlled over his emotions, but it's tossed aside for a deus ex machina powerup simply because the anime staff didn't want to show him being wrecked by Annie.

I'll take the anime for what it is and I certainly don't mind anime-only viewers enjoying it, but don't say manga readers are being elitist. Like I said, I had no problems with the anime prior to this.

Yup.

The series is very good. However, I don't think it can be considered a masterpiece.

They changed some scenes compared to the manga. Overall 9/10 adaptation.

25: Why is Eren the main character again?

Anyway fun show with good action and...yeah that's about it. The characters and story weren't great but has it's moments of intrigue. Eren being a completely unbearable main lead doesn't help matters much, nor does the completely over the top nature taking itself completely seriously at all times.

Basically my initial problems still stand. Watch it for the cool fights and that's about it 6/10

Lol @ the wallists. The story of the miner in the intermission was very intriguing, shed some light on a bigger mystery. Speaking of the wall, that last scene really surprised me. I wonder if the walls are like a storehouse for titans to launch a final annihilation of humanity in some bigger plan. Leaving me hanging like this, it's too much :x. Flaming Eren Titan was freakin' awesome and the intensity of their brutal, primal fight was spectacular.

Overall, this series is simply breathtaking. It had me drawn in and completely immersed from start to finish. The story isn't the most masterfully crafted nor the characters the most well developed, but the shock value, action, and drama was absolutely magnificent. One of the best osts I've heard in a long time and I look forward to a sequel.

They did! Past the credits!

That was a disappointing reveal. If they going to make a season 2 they should redo the whole titan-in-the-wall reveal.

Oh, so it's actually real???? I thought it was just an anime-extra thing. O_O

Solid show overall, a bit of dragging on here and there but mostly good pacing and interesting cast of characters. Fabulous animation and soundtrack, but not the most memorable. I don't consider this a masterpiece either but it wasn't bad IMO. A few plot holes (the whole idea of titan shifting defies the rules of matter etc) and badly planned plot twists, but overall, still entertaining and cool plot.

I was really satisfied with the way they ended the anime. The only thing i'm confused about is, if they were to make a season 2, how would they be able to continue the Titan wall reveal?
The titan inside the wall was first seen by Mikasa, then later the Pastor, Armin & Hanji. In the manga, this was right after they took Annie into custody, during the day. In the anime's reveal however, they show the titan during the night where no one is there to witness it.
Assuming they continue season 2 following the manga with the ending in the anime, how will they be able to show

I would like to see how they do that, if they do release I second season.
imo, Episode - 7/10.
Anime itself - 9/10. :3

I want season 2 now. I highly doubt the sales for this series will be bad considering it's sky-rocketing popularity and I swear to god I will not be completely satisfied with this series until I see some more development regarding the titans.

Exactly how fucking invulnerable is Annie? How the hell can she come up with all these cunning tactics to protect the secrets behind the titans? Is Annie's father somehow the reason as to why Annie can transform? How desperate is she to protect the titans and why? (I haven't read the manga so I don't want any answers until I read it myself.)

Goddamn, I haven't been this hyped over a series in a long time. I will miss this series greatly; hopefully the storyline in the manga will be just as thrilling as the anime was. The anime will always be my favorite in terms of art, though.

I'm hoping a season two will come along soon... leaving fans with these cliffhangers is ridiculous.

First off: Not a manga reader.

It's pretty funny how the fire-eren thing was anime-original. I have no idea why it was necessary.
The fight was okay, it wasn't actually as great as I thought it would be.
Annie climbing the wall and then Mikasa cutting her down was great though :D
That wall titan thing was creepy (I wonder if it really is full of titans). As well as the plus information from the middle of the episode. I had a theory about the whole wall actually having a flooring or whatever as well. I'm gonna guess that the whole city is just for the purpose of one huge game of letting people thrive then hunting them all down or something.

As for the whole show?
It's overrated. To some extent.
Don't get me wrong, it was pretty enjoyable and the action was great, but it still had quite a few smaller and bigger flawes and/or unexplained things.
The thing that most bothered me was the sheer stupidity of the humans. Numberous times they forgot to do logical things. They missed a lot of oportunities during pretty much every bigger fight so far.
It also used some bad tropes here and there, which didn't really help either.
I didn't have that much of a problem with Eren as some people did. Though I still don't think he was that much of a good a character either. Not that any of them had any very big character development :/ I didn't have a favorite character. I would have liked to see more of Sasha and Krista though :D
The OST was quite possible the best thing about the show though. I fucking love classic music or whatever you call that. The OPs and EDs were okay. The first OP was actually quite good, but the full version is just a disappointment :/

So yeah, while it had flaws, it was still a pretty good show and I enjoyed watching it, even if not as much as most people.
I'm gonna give the show an 8/10 and I'm looking forward to the sequel :)

what do the colossal titan, armored titan and female titan have in common? they are all skinless so i think that fire-eren is symbolism of him going skinless at some point too in order to reach his titan's form maximum potential

Half a second, half the people are going to miss. It was supposed to be one of the most powerfuls reveals in the manga. Mikasa's reaction, the titan's reaction, Hanji's inquiry... Damn.

I liked the adaptation, there were a few parts that disappointed me, but I can get over it, after all SnK is a very good adaptation that is pretty dam close to the source material. Also I don't really see a long lasting problem with what this episode brought.

Fire Eren as some call it, can easily just be excused as a one time thing, a stylist choice for the ending battle. Levi showing up, he didn't perform any complex or advanced maneuvers, even more his involvement could have further increased his injured leg, leaving him out of combat for a while. Eren going berserk instead of showing intelligent awareness, meh you still have the manga. Though the big dissapointment for me was the wall reveal part with Mikasa, Hanji and Pastor Nick. However that can be fixed right at the start of a second season, with Hanji leading a squad to help clear the rubble, see's the titan, and Pastor Nick shows up etc etc.....ie no real long term changes to the plot that are unfixable. Also for those hoping for a second season soon, I doubt it, as the source material was nearly used up with this one season, so if you want your SnK fix, I'd recommend you read the manga, there's some changes here and there, but I think seeing both will increase your enjoyment to the overall series.

It's cool to have your own opinion, but seeing all these manga purists posting about how the order of the episode being changed makes it worse and not a good episode. Really? Does making a good adaptation mean copying everything over from the source material? No. It doesn't.

Overall I really enjoyed the show, the last show that really gave the rush like Attack on Titan did was Code Geass.

Great episode. As a manga reader, I loved this episode. Although to be honest, episode 24 raised the bar too high, and I had expected even better, since they had the temerity to show it on the big screen. As much as I'd like to see the wall reveal scene (edit: I mean in the way it was presented in the manga, with Hanji, the priest and all), it just wouldn't fit into a season finale. Erwen giving his monologue was, thematically, the better way to end the season.

They had to sacrifice some manga material for the route they took - Eren going full berserk. Mikasa working with Eren just wouldn't work once they had chosen to go down that route. Despite what was taken away, what was added was GLORIOUS. It gave me massive Man of Steel (yes, for all its flaws, the action of MOS was unparalled) and Evangelion (blood spilling over the city) vibes! At least Eren wasn't Superman (and he went berserk) so no one could complain about him not reining back and protecting the citizens.

The anime cannot take away what is already in the manga. What the anime offers is epic blockbuster action on a scale that mere manga panels cannot achieve on their own. For what it's worth, I'm glad the director took creative liberties with the series. Each medium needs to capitalize on its own strengths.

10/10 episode. 10/10 series.

Good episode, great series. Best of the year by far.

See a lot of the manga fanbois bawling their eyes out all over the place. Whatever, do us all a favor and don't watch the second season whenever it comes out.

Personally, as someone stated earlier, I think the titan in the wall reveal at the end didn't really need anymore and it served as a very mysterious hook to lead into next season.

I'm surprised with how many people were disappointed by the ending. Granted, I'm not a manga-reader, but from the standpoint of someone who has only been following the anime adaptation, I thought it functioned fine. Obviously there wasn't going to be a conclusive ending, but I liked the direction in went as it developed its themes more and set itself up for a continuation. I really liked the little details put in the last parts of the episodes, such as the birds flying over the wall (which was also in the beginning, if I recall correctly) and the head of the Titan in the wall, even considering how much of a tease it was. None of the major concepts really feel like a complete thought, but it did still allow us to chew on some of the ideas presented throughout the show, including the true weakness of humanity. I enjoyed the characters in this episode too; Erwin was fantastic to watch, and I enjoyed watching Annie, Levi, Jean, Armin, and Mikasa as well, even though I don't normally like Mikasa all that much as a character. This isn't to say the episode didn't have any flaws (seriously, that wall-worshiping thing is just ridiculous every time it comes up), but I thought it did well in what it set out to do as a final episode for an ongoing story.

Now speaking to the series as a whole, I enjoyed it immensely. It didn't emotionally affect me or delve into its themes enough for me to call it a masterpiece, but it was a solid piece of entertainment, and it explored some really interesting ideas. I thought it did a great job of utilizing its story concept to explore some deeper themes and questions while incorporating in all of the action and more direct forms of engaging the audience. That said, there were unfortunately a lot of characters I just didn't care for, and the animation had some funky things going on in the earlier episodes. I also felt that the Titans vs. humans conflict lacked a lot of the complexity that I was hoping it would achieve. Overall though, I enjoyed the series quite a bit and thought it accomplished a lot of things most other series, particularly shounen action series, haven't.

I don't like how they pulled fire eren outta their asses just to make him beat annie when in the manga she actually kicked his ass... oh well I guess everyone will hate the MC if he kept losing that's why we need to pull some random powerup so he won't look bad getting beat up by a girl.

also they didn't mention that she stopped to try kidnapping him again... I know its a minor detail but somehow I think its important for future events.

Annie cry and crystal was good though.
