Hey

I'm really sorry for being MIA on you... I recently came back from a mini vacation and something happened. It's been on my mind and it's making me feel not so social, but I liked exchanging small messages with you. I'm not really on the computer a lot, but my phone has Facebook. I was just wondering if you still wanted to keep in touch, we could talk through

--

Glad to read that the pain has died down, and yes, be very careful! Travelling to the station everyday with a heavy backpack? What a trooper! :)

From what I've gathered, you're sweet, kind, intelligent, and fun to talk with! I have a friend who brown-noses a lot, it makes me laugh. I feel like I've been too straightforward recently, and it kind of comes off as rude.

Oh... that sounds pretty serious. I hope you're recovering well. Maybe you could tell me about how that happened?

I'm Vietnamese and Chinese. I can understand very little of Mandarin and Cantonese, but I'm completely fluent in Vietnamese. A strong American accent? Forgive me, but I don't really know what an American accent sounds like! I wonder if I have a Canadian accent... I'm kind of jealous of my sister, she can speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and Vietnamese. I too would have liked to have learned all these languages, but it doesn't bother me that I don't know them.

I did consider taking astronomy, but I was more comfortable with accounting. It's okay because I'm learning about science facts everyday from the internet, haha.

What kind of impression would you like to give off? Kind, sweet, gentle, rough, straight forward?

That sounds great! I could help you devise a workout plan if you'd like :).
Speaking of swole, my friend always says, "We're gonna be too swole to control, bro". LOL.

I've only watched that one Korean drama, so I wouldn't know. They tend to be very lengthy, right? Do you speak Chinese and Taiwanese?

In university, I took a course called "Astrobiology: Life in the Universe". It was my most favourite class because I learned about a lot of interesting things. I knew a lot about the subjects that my teacher was teaching, so I felt like I really was learning for once, unlike my other classes where I'm struggling or too bored to want to learn anything.

I don't know, nauticalblue, you strike me as the type to be shy, intelligent, and sweet, but when given a drink, all hell breaks loose, haha. (it's okay, I won't tell anyone ^_^)

Interesting stories... hmm... not so recent, but:

I only started using my free gym pass at my university after my second year. I was pretty disappointed with myself seeing as I wasted two years of it. You really should utilize!

Three more weeks and you're free! The last few weeks are probably the hardest, but I believe in you ^_^. The only Korean drama I've ever seen is Stairway to Heaven. It was a romance genre, and it was pretty good in my opinion. The soundtracks were really nice. Are you Korean?

Yup, I'd have to go with astrophysics, as well as astrobiology. The lifecycle of a star, the origin of life on earth, evolution, and possible life sources on other planets are all so intriguing. I learned about a lot of planets and moons that harbour oceans of water, and how they sustain their liquid forms; I thought that was really cool. Dark holes, worm holes, and the observable universe and beyond are probably my favourite concepts.

Oh, haha, I should have guessed that. I'm not even sure what I thought when I read "Materials Engineering".

So have you been to any recent parties? any crazy stories? lol

Thank you! It's not a hard nor easy task to stick to a workout schedule, but knowing that it makes you respect me makes me smile :) It really is a lot easier to stick to it if you have someone with you. On rare occasions, I'd work out on my own and I actually enjoy it more than working out with my friends. I think if you start with some friends, it would be easier, and eventually, you could do it on your own. I use my university gym to workout because it's free. Gym memberships for fitness centres are so expensive!

That's great that you're getting higher marks. Best of luck, I'll be rooting for you! Talking about chemistry reminds me of Breaking Bad. Oh how I miss that show so much... Do you watch any non-animated shows?

My most favourite topic is space. I'm fascinated by all it's mysteries, and I could talk about it for hours. I really hope that I get to witness some sort of phenomenal discovery about space in this lifetime.

It must've been really cool to live near such a laboratory. What kind of work does a person who studies material engineering do?

It sounds like you've put a lot of thought into your plan; hopefully, everything goes in your favour :).

Back then, I'd workout for about a week, and just stop. I was pretty lazy and I wasn't in any immediate need to exercise, so my incentives sucked. This summer, however, my friends and I wanted to keep staying in touch and be more productive / active, so we decided to create a workout schedule. It's been about two months and we've stuck to it pretty strictly! Monday to Friday, we wake up at around 7:00AM - 8:00AM (fml) and head on out. Waking up early is such a great feeling! For me, it feels like my day has been doubled because I'd sleep in until 2:00PM or something. I'm more of a night person :). One of the best feelings about working out and being able to handle something today that you couldn't handle last week.

I'm visiting Missouri, then heading to Minnesota. There's some festival in Missouri that my family wanted to go to, and it's gonna be outdoors. We're camping for like 3 days or something, and basically I'm gonna be melting the entire time.

Smart choice! I should have done that this summer, but I honestly was not up for it. Is it going well so far?

In highschool, I was really into science and arts. I loved physics, chemistry, and biology. I also loved acting and drama classes, lol. My dream job is to be an actor, but I weighed my options and it was too unrealistic :(. I thought about engineering, but then the costs were too high. In the end, I decided to go into accounting. Math isn't too bad and being organized is fun. My main reason is that I could become an accountant for maybe a science firm, an acting firm, or something that I'm interested in. It's like I could go into any field that interests me, and that way, I'll still feel involved in the things that I like doing. Get it?

What about you, is civil engineering what you've always wanted to become?
bearsbee Jul 18, 2014 8:00 PM
Mm... I've been working out and just having a good time. It's an odd feeling because during my semester, I was never relaxed or at ease due to obligations or studies. I'm heading to the states in a couple weeks, so I'm looking forward to that! Any travelling plans?

Chemical engineering sounds tough! I was gonna go into civil engineering, but I decided to do accounting. In the past summers, I chose to take additional courses or I just simply had to repeat them because I failed. This is my first summer without any school and it feels awesome. Are you continuing your studies because you failed? :P
bearsbee Jul 16, 2014 7:48 PM
I used to play a lot of video games back then. I had such a strong passion for it, but gaming has lost it's spark for me recently. That was when I got interested in anime, and I liked it a lot. Feels good to not have to study and cram any more, right :D. How's your summer been?
bearsbee Jul 16, 2014 5:20 PM
helloo

I was just wondering, did you happen to find a new interest after losing interest in anime?
Tachii Jul 3, 2014 8:47 AM
There are some practicums near the end of the course, which I guess is the same as internship.

Well, some will say being realistic is the best. What made you change from pessimism to optimism?

It's good that employers would take that into consideration. Sadly they don't for my university, lol. My own university even said they don't give preferences to their own undergrad to grad schools. It kind of made me regret going here. (University of Toronto.)

Personally I'd never do a shorter program. Too much work in a short amount of time. Seems not only stressful but also will get in the way of non-academic matters like being with family and friends. Seems too much of a compromise.
Tachii Jul 2, 2014 4:46 PM
Nah, it's not your fault. I was personally kind of down anyway to really even come on MAL. But yeah, I don't know how my lack of work experience would transfer to when I get to graduate from OT. Still, I'm optimistic it will work out in the end. I've always been optimistic to the point of naivety about myself. Like I couldn't possibly fail. Even after failures from before I remain optimistic, it might be a flaw but it definitely saved me from depression and the like, I think.

Hmm, grade deflation was in my undergrad, then too. People could go to another university and get a higher GPA learning the same courses than the one I went to. I was kind of an idiot for even going since I knew about it, but what's past is past. Are you nearing the end of your program?
