This was a great show. It gave very good insight to the characters from Index and I even enjoyed it overall more than its parent show.

I am actually finding myself reluctant to watch the next season of Index as I can basically guess the general plot: Misaka and the Sister girl are both going to like Touma and then Touma is going to pick the Sister girl in the end, pretty standard anime formula. Although at this point I've watched so much anime I can basically guess the ending to most shows and I just watch them for journey to that ending.

In this case though I happen to like Misaka's character far more than any of the other characters from Index (Possibly not Saten-san, I liked her character too.), so it kind of saddens me that she is going to get to be the show's emotional garbage disposal.

And to the guy who wanted more fan service: I hope you realize these are underage middle school girls that are depicted in this series, I'm sure you know where I'm going with this, so I'm not even going to go into it further. Moving away from the morality of underage fan service, it does not enhance the show in any way. It does not add to the plot, it does not add to character development, in-fact it takes away from both those things and it wastes the studios money that they could be putting into something to make the show better. But no, they have to waste resources on useless scenes just so some individuals can drool all over their keyboards over imaginary girls or guys.

This was soooo much better than Index, I can't tell if they've "wasted" episode cause I haven't read the novels, but the episodes were all to my liking. One of the most enjoyable anime I've seen so far; 9/10.

We finally see Kongou's ability! I figured it had to do something with air or wind.

And I honestly thought at one point Telestina would scream "IT'S PAAAFEKUTO"

All in all, a good series that had the potential to be even better but it was still enjoyable.

Well, what can I say? After the level upper arc I was thinking about giving this series an 8/10 and was hoping for it to keep up the pace, but then to find out the rest of the series would be filler killed it for me (and made it hard for me to watch the closing episodes). There was way too much filler in this series for a 24 episode show (seriously more than half of the series was filler). The filler wasn't horrible, but it certainty wasn't great either. This series lies between a 6/10 and 7/10 for me. If they only had more source material to animate (I hear the Imouto arc is great) I'm sure this series would have been better.

I didn't like Index. I loved this show, but the sometimes-dodgy plot and some things kept me from giving it a really high score. Last episode really got to me, too. Really well-done series, and I love the Academy City atmosphere they created. I wish it were real! :P

I'd really like more Railgun seasons. Guess I'm going to have to settle for the light novels and manga.

I agree I found the main cast of characters more interesting than the Touma and co. But as many have said there were too many episodes of just lollygagging. I don't mind a few here and there to play up the humor and develop other characters or their friendship but Railgun seemed to really drag. A new director might be called for if there's ever a sequel especially since the series covered only part of the manga from what I hear.

Wouldn't mind if there was a combo series that had Misaka and Touma star and dealt with both magic and science rather than one or the other. Not really sure if the LN's plots would allow for something like that but I think it might be interesting if they did something like that for a season long continous plot.

nice ending :D Telestina got what she deserved and Misaka was kickass! Overall this series is ok/good, the story and arcs are ok, but it got a bit too many fillers and dull moments at times. Misaka make it worthwhile though! I REALLY like Misaka a lot. All the SONGS are good also especially Railgun and Judgelight. Final score 8/10 !

An entertaining finale - we finally see Kongo's power, there is a battle with a giant mech (which came out of nowhere, I might add), there is a railgun vs. railgun duel, and some touching moments at the end.

As for the series overall, I liked it and thought it was better than Index but it had some issues that prevent me from rating it higher than 7/10. First of all, while none of the characters annoyed me as much as Touma did in the first season, there were still a number of annoying moments from Kuroko (mainly at the beginning of the series) and Uiharu (mainly at the end of the series).

The biggest problem was that there wasn't a whole lot of content. I thought the Level Upper arc was good and this finale arc wasn't too bad either; but a lot of the side stories in between the two were just not very interesting. I had hoped to see how the Imouto arc would look from Misaka's viewpoint but instead we got episodes dedicated to various supporting characters - not that great of a trade off. Still, Misaka is a great character and she made this show worth watching.

I liked the Railgun serie, I'm trying to watch Index because of it but damn I dislike that it so much...

Anyway I'm still hoping for a second season somewhere in the future, one where there are no fillers and only action like in the Level Upper Arc and this ending :) I don't understand why there had to be so many fillers through, weren't there enough novels out for every episode to cover the original plot?

8/10 for me ^^

Nope, when this anime aired the 2nd arc of the manga wasn't even finished and I don't think the mini-novels were an option, magicians and Railgun don't mix well

What a girly series. I usually don't judge animes by their cover photo, but I should have done that in this case. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting to a point, but there's just not enough testosterone in it. Seeing that spikey haired dude that could seemingly negate abilities raised my hopes, but he never really featured after the bomb episode. The main chick got on my nerves at times too, with her "who gives a shit I'm a level 5 but I'll be modest about it" attitude. In the end, I guess I had the wrong expectations. For the second season I hope there will be at least one male character in the anime.

- Just read about the Index series. Guess that's where I'm heading next then.

^if you haven't watched the "parent" story so to say before it's your own fault. But I guess you will be happy about Index then..

However, I completed this anime while watching Index II couple of days ago, and I must admit, I enjoyed Railgun a lot more than Index II.
Sure the first episodes are kinda dragging and sometimes boring (and I hate that stupid Kuroko for cockblocking everyone not understanding that Misaka just isn't into girls like she is - most annoying character in a long time I've seen + that unfitting elderly sounding voice!).
But after that it gets good and I like Misaka's "modest" attitude. It makes her more likeable and believable as the main character here.
But some more appearances of Imagine Breaker would have been nice anyway.
Now looking forward for the next season of Railgun. I don't expect too much of the Index movie, it has Index (and most likely Kuroko?) in it. :|

I was really impressed by how they managed to tie everything together at the end, even using things from the stand alone "filler" episodes as well. That's pretty impressive, and something I rarely see in shows that have distinct arcs in them. For a "side story," Railgun sure had the better team of creators in my opinion. It was more coherent, and overall better conceptualized and executed. 9/10

Great ending.
The series as a whole though is a 7.5/10.
It dragged in the middle and wasn't serious enough most of the time.
No romantic development, though I wasn't expecting any.
Not enough powers shown off.

Great final episode it was a great ending and a sweet ending, a nice boss fight and just a good end in global of the story!

I did quite enjoyed this side story although I'd have preferred if Touma appeared a bit more, though they did quite a good job on their back story's and their side stories!

Yea it was quite something, lets see what the specials and maybe soon the sequel has to offer!

But damn that ending sure was rather emotional! Good anime in general! 7/10

Loved this episode and Misaka was just so fucking amazing here. Holy shit at the way she fired that fist right back to Kihara and at that railgun face-off scene. Loved the fast paced action that this episode had. That ending scene with the kids all gathered up for that surprise happy birthday wish was really moving as well. Great episode.

No no no. This series was fun to watch and certainly different than to what I'm used to with Index but being better? No, just no.

7/10 by the way. I didn't like Kuroko in the main series and I like her even less now; obnoxious little thing.

Railgun is definitely, IN MY HONEST OPINION, J.C. Staff's BEST action anime.

I gave it 9/10. I was excited when I should be, I laughed when I should have, and I had my heartstrings tugged when they should be(Dr. Kiyama).

Personally, I like Index and Railgun pretty much the same, Railgun would not exist if people didn't like the Index series. The reason Railgun got the 9 was because it had better animation and a lack of "over-explanation"(as I call it) that Index had in the middle of its big fights. When I rated Index it lost two points just for the "over-explanation".

Likes:
- Atmosphere and setting: l adore Academy City and the windmills. It's a very cool environment and the feeling of the show is great.
- Art and animation: It's just fantastic. Misaka's railgun is too sugoi.
- Science and esper stuff: My main reason to keep watching! Love all the stuff like Lever Upper, Capacity Down, etc.
- Misaka: 'Nuff said :D
- Suspense and action

Dislikes:
- Filler: I skipped like five or six episodes because it had nothing to do with the main plot.
- Shoujo-ai subthemes? I don't know how I can explain this without offending anyone. But all the Kuroko wanting to rape Misaka stuff is a waste of my time.
- Uihara: This little bitch needs to stop whining and acting like she's 6. :D

So, my final rating is 7.4/10, which is borderline 8 but I'm rounding it down to a 7.

Time to watch season 2~

Series was pretty boring with Epic Bumps, Some episodes (mostly the endings) were pretty epic and the rest were kinda boring.

So its kinda boring but yet epic at the same time...

Well kinda enjoyed the series gets an 8/10 from me.

Probably gonna watch the 2nd season when it finishes airing.

I have to say I'm kinda disappointed with the final battle. It seemed to degenerate into a cat fight, I guess this it what happens when there are no prominent male characters.
Other than that is was pretty good.

Ok, this was a really great season finale, I didn't see something this good coming. The final 2-3 minutes were actually the best part if you ask me, at least when it comes to season closing that is. They really felt great.

1. Characters. +1. Well, this anime has pretty good characters to be honest, be it just for Misaka and Saten or EVEN just for Touma, despite his rare appearances(yeah, he's good enough even just by himself).
2. Atmosphere. +1. The atmosphere of Academy City was not something really awesome, but I guess it was good enough for a slice-of-life anime.
3. OST. +1. Be it just for the OPs and EDs or not, this anime has a good OST in my opinion. I enjoyed it a lot.
4. Animation. +1. The animation is top-quality really, nothing to complain about, much improbed since TMNI.
5. Background story. +1. The story about the Child Errors was pretty good imo, Saten-san's background was pretty good in my opinion as well.
6. Storyline. +1. We got two nice arcs that I didn't see coming in a slice-of-life, so I can say I'm pretty impressed.
7. Ending. +1. It was awesome/great, I fcking love it.
8. Drama. +1. The level of drama was decent imo, nothing to complain about once more.
9. Overall affect. +1. Sometimes boring, sometimes interesting, at the end of it all I pretty much enjoyed it and I'd watch the second season as well.
Bonus(extra) point for:...
Overall score: 9/10.

Kongo's power is pretty cool. That final battle was pretty intense, especially that super rail gun Misaka used earlier on the highway. The last scene with the blimp was very heartwarming and cute.

Overall this series was fun. Kuroko is hilarious, Uiharu is cute, Saten is cool, and Misaka is just plain...awesome. It got a bit uneventful and went from a compelling plot to cute girls/cute things for a while though before picking back up, so that put me off for a bit. Was also a bit disappointed how they mentioned there being six other level 5s in the city but nothing was ever done with it. Maybe in the sequel, which I'll be sure to watch later this year. Leaning towards a 7/10, good series.

The finale was amazing! I do like it when everyone gets a little bit of glory in the final fight. I laughed seeing Mitsuko and Kuroko work together, but they looked dam cool doing it. Misaka's railgun laser blasts are always epic to see, and dat bat swing from Saten! <3 Action scenes were top notch pretty much. That last scene was really sweet also. "Stripper Lady" really was awesome.

Overall I liked the characters from Railgun better than Index. Touma was even pretty cool over here since we only had to see him in small doses. Overall a pretty good, fun run. Had some of the episodes of the second half been better, it would have scored higher. Looking forward to watching the Railgun S whenever.

Episode from the plot very predictable , despite this still managed to impress the various twists macroscopic scattered liberally in the last episodes, in particular I am referring to the ability of the various characters that populate the world of Railgun and TAMnI . Narration satisfactory, if the dates are thrashing Telestina and she acted like a great opponent with cruelty and insanity to the nth degree , other than SAO ! LOL
Drawing that gave the show that had to appear in every episode , and not just here ! Damn !
Animations promoted , only bad things were in the series are in addition to the low quality of the drawings often, even the CG painful ! D :
Ultimately, as there is a good story development thanks to the plot that crosses too many events , even with its digressions , however, useful, and narration essendci a bit slow when certain points , but with a good statement of the facts , I can admit that l ' idea to increase the vote from 7/10 to 8/10 is not unlikely! I have to think about it!
Yay ! Pretend this series now I can start the sequel ! * _ *

Didn't expect much, first Index season being okay to me. But this, oh god it was good. Although the series wasn't consistently at the same level, I thoroughly enjoyed it the whole time. To me, it was one of the series I enjoyed the most. I was hooked to the story, and I really liked the characters.
