THERE WE GO. THIS IS WHAT I WANT. I was starting to lose faith in this season the past few episodes but this reestablished that lost faith. Great episode. Animation was phenomenal

Continues the classic trope of using obscene violence. death and gore to shock people into emotion instead of having good writing. Yet another a demon attacked my family but of course a child can defeat it. Still unsure if demons are a known thing or not to the general population even though they destroy whole towns.Having the world exist beyond the main character seems to not be present and no precautions to avoid demons for regular folks seems to also not be a consideration for this anime.

Muichiro may just have been saved by Kotetsu, but the fish demons are stlll a menace.

Muichiro's backstory as a diligent woodcutter's son, and with an ailing mother for his father to go out and get herbs in the process, they both died when he turned 10, but actually a year later because he has a twin brother: Yuichiro. Muichiro's name may mean harsh things, but it's his twin brother that largely led a life of insults, even driving the white birch spirit Amane away, which according to him, is definitely taking advantage of the twin brothers for her own gain. The loatheness of life rains down on the twin brothers, stopping their conversation, and to make matters worse, a demon comes attacking after them, which leaves a pool blood of red and the demon subjugated and turned into dust from his protection.

The "Mu" in Muichiro meaning "infinity", and indeed he's the chosen one to face the Upper Rank 5 Gyokko with the mark on his face. Together with Kanamori's sword that he perfected for Tokito, a blade that was once forged by his master Tetsuido, this is his chance to redeem himself: a fighting chance of an infinite strength.

From a family boy to an orphan, then to a chosen one, Tokito, be infinity.

the show is about demons killing people what are you expecting?? and also the "my family was killed by a demon" only happens for about 4 of the characters out of the whole cast

Not a bad episode and did a decent job with Giyu here. This is nice to have after a lot of below average episodes.

It was yuichiro talking to muichiro😭muichiro remembered the words yuichiro told muichiro
That was a bit confusing, because he didnt say any of that in the backstory. Looked like the hashira was talking to Muichiro
You are not alone, I was just as confused while watching the last parts of the episode. xD But now that I think about it, Mu being 'the harsh one' could have been a cool twist.

No, he is that more timid twin. Yuichiro was that harsh one who was killed by the demon.

Yuichiro mentioned two names in his words: Muichiro's and Buddha's, so perhaps that made you confused?

Muichiro is actually Yuichiro or am I losing it? When he was last talking he was talking to the dead Mucihro who was shown lying dead on the bed.
Their backstory was sad but it seems all the Hashira so far have had sad backstories. Tanjiro fits right in.

Great episode.

No, Muichiro is Muichiro and has always been himself. Just after that tragic incident and his brother's death, his young mind had to cope with it somehow. Defense mechanism in his case was suppressing emotions and resemble more his dead brother than himself. His defense reaction was so strong that he basically became a different person having huge difficulties to remember about the past. Thanks to Kagaya's support and Tanjiro's influence, he was able to break that mental wall and reach to his long suppressed emotions and memories.

Easily the best episode of this season. I'm expecting the last few episodes to be quite good now.
In my opinion, this arc wasn't that great in the manga either. Muichiro's backstory is really damn good though.

8 episodes now and mostly filler and cringey infantile humour... could've been 3 episodes you know

Oh not to forget that Episode 1 was like 3x the filler crammed together so it's been 10 episodes and still very little substance

For the life of me I cannot fathom how a show could be so overrated

Thank you. It was confusing, because they did a voice over of the harsh twin at the end while Muchiro was fighting. I assumed he was the one still alive and fighting :D

Absolutely. The majority of the episode I was also on the wrong track and thought that he was imagining that he had a twin XD There I also read too much into it

Twin huh.... interesting, polar opposite personalities too.

Poor Amane tho, she got yelled at, rock and mud thrown at...

Tho the big'bro did that cause he didn't want his lil'bro to be in danger hunting demons.

.

Meanwhile... the Gigachad is still going with the sword, LOL

(TBH tho... why did the Pot demon left Muichiro to die and not finish him off... this demon is stupid huh, LOL) (there's a reason why "double-tapping" exist in fights, to make sure your opponent is actually ded-ded and won't come back and take revenge) (but well, I guess they needed a plot device)

Just checked the manga, there's no maggot part at all .
Also the whole flashback took less than 1 chapter so yeah UFO slowed down the pacing like usual for this season , that's why it feels longer than it should.
I'm late to this but after watching the flashback episode I realised that I mixed up the time. It was later that the maggots were eating him alive, my bad

I have to say, this season has been pretty disappointing overall. Every episode we're burdened with sad backstories for characters I couldn't care less about and also, most of the episode is filled with meaningless dialogue from the protagonists and antagonists. This show is awesome when the action sequences are occurring but other than that, it's super boring.

I presume that the reason Tokitou lost his memories is that the death of his own brother had completely torn him apart to the point he blocked out. Right there, you can tell that everything he went through was just too much for him. His brother's death was his last straw.

I'm glad he got his memories back and is very determined to do his duty as a demon slayer.

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!

Muichiro's backstory is finally here. It was tragic as per usual. Yuichiro's final words sure hit the spot.

Muichiro finally unlocks the Slayer Mark and overcomes his amnesia. Bro is finna one shot Gyokko soon.

Also, I know that mist breathing is supposed to look that way and Ufotable has done a great job adapting and animating it but it doesn't look as appealing as fire breathing, sun breathing, or the others. Same with love breathing. Don't get me wrong, they look amazing, but pale in comparison to other breathing forms.
