| Came in watching the episode without any expectations. Came out really excited for the next episode. Also very happy about the yaoi undertones, about time we get more of these kind of animes. |
| Wow, that skating animation was surely good. But I hope MAPPA will also put some effort in animating the game scenes in DAYS seriously too. Just realized, no wonder DAYS "games" animation sucks since a lot of work was put in here instead. Anyway, 1st episode is good but I must contain the hype since I have seen most of animes that started so good only to end up disappointing at the end. I hope the series will maintain its momentum until the end. And wow! Can't believe Dean Fujioka sang the OP!!! Have watched some of his live action TV series and I was so surprised that he can also sing.. |
| Great OP song and the ED has nice visuals. It will be hard to top them this season. And lmao, his senpai crush(?) is already married. Poor guy. It has great potential, can't wait to see Victor and Japanese Yuri's interactions (and those kind of interactions too ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)). Not sure what role Russian punk Yuri will play out though. Hopefully this show won't go downhill after this great pilot episode. |

| The visuals. So good. And I like how they didn't cut corners when Yuri was copying Victor. There weren't any still shots or shots of the audience or anything. There was only switching from Yuri to Victor. And the movements were too smooth. This season was lacking good visuals and this one is giving me just that. I initially thought that the MC would be some figure skating fan who would be just starting and would reach the top. But Yuri here is crazy good at this stuff. He just gets a bit too nervous and ends up screwing up But the reason he lost in the grand prix was probably because the others were way better. And Victor sees the viral video Yu-chan's imoutos. And he's now here to train the Japanese Yuri instead of training the Russian Yuri. He's probably retiring too since he's too old now. But the guy's still in top form winning tournament after tournament. And the Russian Yuri will come after Victor here based on the next episode preview. Let's see if they become training partners or something. Then it'll be Yuris on Ice. And the Japanese Yuri will get a new hairdo based on the ending sequence. He needs one so that he looks better and not like such a loser. The OP was good but I prefer that ED. The ending sequence was kinda cool. The artwork was damn good and I liked that thing they did there. It was different from what other shows do for their ending sequences (was it Instagram or Tumblr? I don't use this stuff). This was a good enough start and I'll be watching more of this show. |

| This was amazing! First of all... 10/10 OP! The animations throughout the episode was amazing, especially during the skating segments. Also, they properly blended comedy with seriousness, which is a common flaw for most series. I laughed really damn hard when the video got uploaded and got viral. Can't wait to see how the rest of the series plays out! 5/5 |

| It's a bit all over the place, but the skating animation is so smooth and the story is compelling so far. Although the protagonist feels a bit like a wimp, it will probably be remedied soon as he chooses the direction in life and goes for it. |

| This is as gay and as fabulous as I hoped it would be. Also, damn, that opening, and the animation is altogether very good in this series so far. I will not judge characters much after just one episode, but they do all seem endearing so far. Alll in all, a great first episode. I'm not a sports' anime fan, but I will follow this along. :D |

| Yuri on ice 1 : Amazing. Wonderfully directed & storyboarded. The animation wasn't just good, but careful, delicate. Liked the comedy bits. Characters are human & not just anime archetypes. The development was quite fast with the video & victor, but passable. The OP had me smiling, the re-used animation being it's only downside. We've got something promising here, folks. 4.5/5 |

| That was good as hell. The subtle (and less subtle) butt service, the surprisingly effective comedy, the animation, the directing, the OP and ED credits, Victor's entire being etc. Everything pretty much hit the mark. I'm going to enjoy this. |

I feel like I'm the only one in this discussion who doesn't want this to become yaoi x) The BL jokes on Tales of Zestiria always made me burst into laughter, but here it somehow hurts my impression on the whole show. Ice scating is such a beautiful and underrated sport, you barely see it in any TV series (I only know 1 german show) and this is the first time an anime covers it. It's just a bit sad how the sport becomes subsidiary with all the shipping/yaoi fantasies... I give you a point on the last scene though ;) Btw. "the dish of the week" seems to be Piroschki, it's really delicious, u guys should try it if you find a good recipe. I wonder if they'll show us different sorts of russian food in every episode c:  |

| This is only the first episode, so I can't say much yet. Although, I did like it so far. :) The skating is absolutely gorgeous! I found myself laughing when Yuuri had his little character thing introduce himself...and he gained weight. xDD Yuuri really isn't that typical cool protagonist. And Victor... Victor is attractive. I'm curious to see how Victor is going to handle both Yuuri and Yuri!! Btw, I hope I wasn't the only one who was not surprised when Victor was in the hot spring and just stood up naked... :P |

| I'm really satisfied with this, it's a great way to start. The OP was great and the ED became very original by showing their Instagram/social network feed. The fluidity in the animation is amazing as well. This first episode was so fabulous omg |
| I don't know what to say. Didn't have many expectations before watching episode 1 and I'm so glad I didn't. This is a 5/5 for me. Bring on more flawless animation. |

| In spite of the you-know-what undertones, everything was stellar especially the animation. I literally wasn't breathing after that skating performance, that was so goddamn good. Give me more!!! Finally, a good show. Yeah I agree, AOTS contender, maybe for non-sequels. |

| Great first episode. Loved the OP and ED. The ice skating changing from Victor to Yuuri was also really nice. I hope the animation quality doesn't drop much during these scenes. Yuri is my new son. Step back other moms. |
