Good episode. The fighting continues.

Good of Kiyoharu to help Tatara out.

Nice talk between Mako & Chinatsu.

Tokyo Metropolitan Competition next week. Hopefully they don't separate.

It seems like the director is changing the scenes from the manga in order to put more focus on Tatara and Chinatsu's relationship. They have omitted the "impact" moments between Tatara and Shizuku on the anime, thereby lessening their actual connection.

For example, the scene where Shizuku comes out of the vacation house wearing the nice dress, (On the manga) Tatara cried (unconsciously) when he saw her because she thought that she was beautiful and that he could not reach her level. They skipped on this moment on the anime. (from previous episode)

Another scene during this episode is when Tatara told Shizuku that he wants to make an impression. On the manga he said "I want to impress you", to Shizuku, specifically, as if he was boldly proposing to her (he surprises people a lot of the time). They changed the script to say that he wanted to impress both her and Kiyoharu in the Anime. So it did not have as much impact when Shizuku said that Tatara is a "Mystery" to her.

I just wish that they do not modify the manga's character development as much. Maybe they are just aiming for one season and they don't see Tatara ever getting together with Shizuku in the story.

Does Shizuku really have that type of relationship towards Tatrara. I kinda felt Tatrara had a crush on her when he first started off, but now it's more of an admiration than something romantic. Also wouldn't that be a manga spoiler.......... please respond with a spoiler tag for relationships down the road.

I don't know. I just see the current pairings perfect the way they are now.

The manga is just in the competition that is about to start in the anime, so there isn't much to talk about their relationship in the future. Tatara, even in the anime, seems to have some kind of crush on Shizuku (at least to me) and he and Chinatsu remind me of Segoku and Chizuru in the way they treat each other. Heck, it's basically the same, only that Tatara doesn't hit Chinatsu as Segoku does Chizuru.

I do feel it was quite crappy of the studio to leave that scene of Tatara unconsciously criying and when he spoke to Shizuku in this episode and I know all those inner thoughts that appear in the manga can't be put in the anime, but I feel like some of them are important to get a clearer picture of who Tatara is. And at least in the site I watched the episode, Shizuku said that Tatara says some "bizarre" things some times and Tatara thought she said something "bizarre" when she told him he was a mistery to her... that makes no sense, it should have been "incredible" or maybe "outrageous" but not "bizarre."

This episode solidified my choice when I recommend Ballroom e Youkoso to someone. Manga all the way. I really hadn't noticed they took out Hyoudou's naked dance, but that was hilarious in the manga. Maybe they'll put it in an special or something? Who knows, but it's a shame they left such good stuff out.

I'm very concerned right now as the anime keeps rushing at a very faster pace than the manga. Last thing I heard is that Takeuchi-sensei still has health issues and that the current story arc is still not concluded in the manga due to this. Does the anime studio have a grasp of what the mangaka intends for the anime's conclusion? Also won't this end differently from the manga since the anime will eventually finish first before it's manga counterpart? Because from what I seen, they've cut too much from the original source.

Woot! Not a lot of dancing, but plenty of character interactions this episode!

Well there's one thing the artists did right: Make the girls look good in the hot springs! And Hyoudou lol, so chill. For the women and men to hear each other from across the wall was really fun!

Hyoudou second best man for dragging Chinatsu out of her room XD.

The highlight of this episode for me though was the conversation between Tatara and Shizuku. Tatara doesn't necessarily want to win against Shizuku and Hyoudou. He just wants to leave an impression on them. That's very admirable of him. He doesn't aim to be the best, he aims to be seen. That's a rather uncommon motive in sports anime, but it works very well here in Ballroom since Ballroom Dancing is about style and finesse. Let's see how this turns out in the competition.

Marisa has one of the hottest milf bodies out there. i'm impressed. =P

The tension between Tatara and Chinatsu remains strong, but after having some down-to-earth talks with the others, Tatara with Hyodo, Gaju and Shizuku, and Chinatsu with Mako, the pair seems to be getting their act together, despite their constant bickering still.

With the next episode taking place at another dance cmopetition and with Chinatsu's smug friend also dancing, I'm expecting both Tatara and Chinatsu to perform a lot better. I'm hoping they'll win the competition, personally. =)

I wonder too about all that.

Shizuku is the "first girl" we saw.
Tatara saw Shizuku in underwear.

Shonen Rules says MC must end with "first girl" and if underwear --- > marriage

and it's a shonen :)

I like to laugh about that but it's clear they emphasize the Tatara - Chinatsu relationship (which I love)

On another subject, the episode last week was pretty well drawn, I mean I found Chinatsu almost as beautiful as in the manga.

Still rooting for Chinatsu becoming someone like her role model Chizuru Hongou, my favourite character actually, even more since the anime.

When Chinatsu start to be likeable?

At first that series was pretty ok, I really like Mako's arc, that final dance with all these roses was so pretty!

But then Chinatsu joined with all these annoying and forced drama and right now is really hard to keep with these series.

I don't know why, but I really like this kind of relationship wkwwkwk. It says that a couple will become closer after a big fight isn't it? And I really like the scene when Kiyoharu, Shizuku, Mako, and Gaju tried really hard to make them close again wkwkwk that's the real friends. Can't wait for the next episode!!

Yah, I think Chinatsu has a legitimate gripe with life. Plus, she's helping Tatara become a better lead.

In reality, Mako and Tatara would be the most compatible match, but neither one of them would "grow."

Tatara and Chinatsu need to connect physically in a whole different way if you know what I mean. After that, dancing will be a breeze.

Marisa is quite the sexy lady. Puts the hot young ones to shame with that 'nais body' of hers.

Nice to see an episode with more interaction between characters (especially the dialogue between Mako and Chinatsu). In the end, she and Tatara didn't solve the problem in itself but now they are in the same page. It was really helpful of Hyodo, Shizuku and Mako in giving them a push in the right direction.

P.S.: I hope the studio puts the same effort into the panels/drawings for the next competition as much as they did with Marisa-sensei ones (DAAAAAAAAAMN).

If there's one thing this show has going for it it's the drama. I like it. They're gradually maturing, and I kind of ship them pretty hard.. lowkey. But then that scene with Tatara and Shizuku is a wild card. It warmed my heart to know that Tatara left an impression on Shizuku just as much she did on him.

Cannot stand Chinatsu. She needs a good smack across the face for acting like such a little shit. No wonder she's never been able to get a partner given her garbage personality. Tatara needs to man up too, though his scene with Shizuku was nice. Even though she's kind of taken a back seat this arc, she's still a very important person for Tatara. Can't wait until they pair up again since it's being strongly hinted.

This arc is probably my favourite so far. Watching all the characters interact and bounce of each other is a lot of fun. I think this show is at its best when it mixes in little slice of life moments with the dancing. The serious competition arcs (i.e. the majority of the show) are fine but its more interesting watching how the character relationships develop in a laid back setting. Not to say that I want the slice of life moments to overtake the dancing, but a better balance of both would be welcome. Definitely want more arcs like this.

nah at this point of the manga, its obvious that his obsession with Shizuku is more about admiration with respect rather than romance and I doubt the anime will have a different ship ending (if they ever decided to make a ship happens anyways).

as much as people bitching about Chinatsu, they both actually in quite a healty relationship, they know how lacking they are yet they still trying their best and move forwards to improve themselves this is a good kind of pairing that I wish I would see more in other series.

As a manga reader it's a bit frustrating to see how Tatara is being eliminated as a person (as it's in the manga) to reduce everything to a kind of pseudo-romance that doesn't exist in the first place, speaking of those who support Fujita and Chinatsu as a couple, of course, who are obviously the staff's favorites.

I don't understand the need to delete and/or modify the scenes of and with Shizuku (yes, they did before too) when in fact they are an important part of Tatara and his "development" as a character throughout the story. She's an emotional support as Sengoku is for Tatara, only that this has the sympathy of many of the writers while the first apparently not.

The differences between the anime and manga are enormous at the level of dialogue and representation.

(Meeting of Tatara and Shizuku in the manga).

Just enough to see the panels to realize the intention and the impact of the moment, at least for Tatara. And later also has an explanation, which was completely ignored to continue stagnating with Chinatsu.

(Conversation between Tatara and Shizuku).

There are scenes that really contribute more to Tatara as a character than any tantrum that Chinatsu does at the moment.

Apart from the fact that many other scenes of Kiyoharu have been thrown on the floor, very funny and that give a lot of charm to his character, like the infamous scene of him dancing the Cucaracha, which bothered many fangirls, eliminating the protagonist's development so suddenly it does feel him very empty, especially applying to Tatara, who is not a very interesting main character.

The people working behind this project are not so excited about doing this project.

Not really. Maybe you should read the manga again. He still has a crush on her. It was literally shown in the training camp arc right before the current arc began. And the first few pages of the very first chapter should tell you exactly who his endgame partner is going to be.

Hmm, I was reading comments and yes. I read the manga too, and like others, I was disappointed with the scenes that was left out. Shizuku indeed have her role for Tatara developing, but we can say the same thing for Chinatsu.I think that only she can make him "grow" to a good leader, because she's wild and push him hard. For the endgame partner I still can't see him with Shizuku and i doubt that will happen, but probably it's too soon for that. But for now, I'm 100% sure that Tatara and Chinatsu couple is the thing they need for themselves. /and they are cute together/

Another intense episode from WTBallroom. The conversation between Mako and Chi about Mako's development definitely left me nostalgia about past memorial moments and some Tatara's fortunate times and also about how Sengoku was leading him at those critical moments... I am so desperate to see him leaving a good impression on his next whatever game he plays!

At least the thing that strings Fujita and Chinatsu together is how Chinatsu knows she's such a great big pain to deal with, but Fujita never gives up on her as his partner. It's really nice how they complement each other in that aspect :') Good luck to both of their progress.

They might end up like Sengoku and Hongo lmao. Always arguing and hitting each other, but dancing so well and fluid and the best in all of Japan together regardless ;P

LMAO the way Marisa just volunteers Hyodo to help fix Tatara and Chi's problem. I gotta admit, though, I think Hyodo could really help since he's so observant as a person and a dancer.

They really don't automatically mesh like Hyodo and Shizuku do. This is gonna take some time.
The closed eyes exercise seems good in theory but Chi can't trust Tatara and it makes it worse when her eyes are closed. She's also afraid of the sensation of being controlled or whatever Tatara experienced before.

aww Gaju's rubber duck uwu so cute

Well this took a turn to the classic rom com, tsundere and male protagonist trope... It's cute though. The way Marisa just asked from across the hot spring bathhouses and the way Chi is jealous lol and the outing omg literal filler episode material XD

I like the points Chi brings up because I meant to point them out as well. The way ballroom dancing is portrayed in this anime, male supremacy is highly apparent. I don't know if this is how it is in reality, but this anime makes it seem like, in ballroom dancing, the women aren't even competitors and are just there to make the couple complete. I don't like that aspect of the sport (if this representation of ball room dance holds any semblance to actual reality) and I like how this anime addresses it by having the female roles talk about it and for Tatara to notice it and try to dance so that it's more of a team effort than just the lead doing everything.

They can do it! Even though they bicker and fight, they are getting closer toe matching each other's rhythm.
oop and another time jump... I'm excited to see how they do!

The next episode is the one I've seen part of on accident so I know they dance well in one routine at least lol
