Beautiful! Art is stunning, I really like Riku's last speech in the end. Izuna blaming Jibril for what happened to Shuvi was priceless xD I wonder what would Sora/Shiro say if Izuna told the story to them, also what would they say to Jibril knowing that she's the one who killed Shuvi, that would be hilarious. 10/10. Also, can anyone tell me how did Izuna play chess with Tet? |

What the hell. I'm not usually one for post-apocalyptic settings and I can count on one hand the number of times I've cried from a story. Teared up? quite a lot, but let loose a tear? Next to never. However this... This caught me off guard... and I love it. First 10/10 in what feels like years. |

Funny how they explicit implied that Shiro and Sora are the reincarnation of Schwi and Riku not only by the VAs but also by their own behaviors and I only noticed it at the end of the movie. /sigh Great visuals, osts and quite a interesting history and also those goddamn ninjas everywhere... 10/10 would watch it again at 02:00 AM LuL |

This is not "post-apocalyptic" it is "apocalyptic". XD As in, the apocalypse is ongoing / present tense. Does reframe NGNL S1 as the most colorful/happy post-apocalyptic story that I can think of at least. Proposing to a different species who looks like a loli, doesn't appear to be very cuddly/soft (lots of metal bits to poke you in your sleep,) who you have a feeling was the one who destroyed your home town and killed all of those living there, and by her own declaration after expressing interest in procreating "has no holes".. That right there is undeniably 101% absolutely and utterly true love. I feel like Sora/Shiro's relationship is nearly identical, just w/ a slightly different origin and motivation. I get that it's on purpose, just not really sure why.. The biggest question in my mind now is unfortunately: Does Jibril "have no holes" either? ~_~;; Has there ever been confirmation that flugel reproduce at all, much less sexually? We still haven't seen any male flugel, so now that I've thought this thought, it is going to bug me until I get S2 to distract me. |

Ex-Machina should be machine right? Where do they get tears? If they were built with human-like skin and why is there a need to store 'water' inside their body(machine)? Or, Ex-machina was not pure machine but a cyborg that mix machine and living creature together? |

Very fun this was. I liked the Riku and Shuvi's relationship and how quick it establishes itself. Seeing the world how it was before Sora and Shiro ever existed was also very intriguing. The action was awesome and the animation was top notch as expected by studio Madhouse. The ending of course gave me them feels. R.I.P OTP. And if course MH has to tease us with ending the film in present day, seeing Sora and Shiro continue their quest after the events of the TV anime. Overall loved it and of course I'll be hoping for a second season. Gave it 9/10 Not as great as series imo |

aLotQuestion said: Ex-Machina should be machine right? Where do they get tears? If they were built with human-like skin and why is there a need to store 'water' inside their body(machine)? Well, if you have eyes with the same structure as a human eye, you probably need something resembling tears for the same purpose. As for the in-universe reason Ex-Machina are human-like, that was probably for the ease of contact with other races (more than half of all Disboard races are humanoids) |

Oh man, I seriously didn't expect that I would enjoy this movie so much. The reason I liked the TV anime was mainly because of the games, and from the PVs it seemed like this would be mainly fighting. But yeah, I'm glad I was wrong, cause this movie made me seriously emotional. 9/10 |

Welp it was really good. Loved the power contrast between races and fight scenes. I wonder which race Tet is god of... From what I heard there was a cut content with Artosh. My one singular complaint in an otherwise excellent movie was cutting out the Artosh subplot from the LN. Seeing the Flugel in their prime interacting with their god was an important contrast to how they became directionless by the time Shiro and Sora arrive on Disboard. Plus the peek inside Artosh's head shows that for a god of war, he's a pretty chill dude. |

That was a very enjoyable movie! Knowing the backstory to the current world was definitely worth watching, the sacrifice made was painful, but worth it. 8.5/10 from my part, time to cross fingers and see if a second season comes soon, this series definitely deserves it. |

Since I'm waiting for BD, I've seen bad score for this movie. And most of them are like "oh this isn't realistic" or something. Well, this isn't realistic earth from the first place... Well, I guess it broke my expectation at least. (thx for the bad review) The plot is like a Fate series, fighting for the holy grail. It's pretty good honestly. As for something that aren't explained, most of them can be explained easily if you wanna think tho. The pace is also good but can be improved. if only they explained the one year timeskip... 8/10 for me. |

Meryel said: In what order should i watch? Movie first, since it's a prequel? or series? and will i understand the movie if i haven't watched the series? Watch it after finishing the anime at least. The movie relies upon the anime/LN's worldbuilding a lot. This part is revealed in vol. 6 of the LN, originally after the anime and a few more arcs, but those skipped arcs are not necessary for you to understand this movie. |

i actually liked it lots. personally, even though it might not be true, i really do hope that Riku and Schwi Dola were reincarnated into Sora and Shiro, respectively, and Couronne Dola reincarnated into her descendant Stephanie Dola. and then Nonna reincarnated into her descendant Chlammy, and Shinku Nilvalen reincarnated into her descendant Fiel Nirvalen. and so on and so forth for the important characters. even though reincarnation isn't a thing in Disboard, with Riku and Schwi, it could work out since they could've been reincarnated into Sora and Shiro, respectively (or maybe not?...), as they came from another world. but, anyways, the movie was awesome. yeah. |

Eh. I just did not care for Riku and Shuvi as much as I should have despite how much screen time they were given. They could've used a lot more time on the beginning to get me invested instead of just outright going to the emotional and comedic moments. Like how Tet got in a game with Izuna or the struggles Riku went through that ultimately lead him to become the leader of human colonists. Guess they had to cut some things to make other important stuff fit the runtime, but things like Shuvi moments took a little too much time for whats supposed to be the prequel to how the present day Disboard came to be. Didn't mind it as much in the anime series because the mood wasn't as dead serious as Zero. Personally just craving and starved for more NGNL lore. That said, I didn't mind how rushed the beginning and "slow" the middle was, or how little I got invested with the new characters. I liked how the story went down (Riku and Shuvi's plan, Shuvi's last cry for help from her race, Riku's last moments, Tet's creation and further solidification of his motives in the series). This just made me wish for season 2 again. Damn, we need a season 2. |

A great apocalyptic film, when the world is in middle of the world of mythical creatures and the humans are in the middle how flies!!! I like the love story between human and robot!!! The final, sad final, when she died, he died but the world change to new rules, game rules!!! 8/10 to me!!! |

I love how this movie sets the worldbuilding of the series and explains a lot of things. Actually this must be the best ln volume of entire series! And I loved how this movie actually hints us with how the world of Disboard became the way it is now, and it was at the time of the Great War, like how imanity of Disboard actually brought all this apocalypse upon themselves... |

"Hope within despair", huh... The world is already in destruction because of the ashes when the main character is young. He grew up to try to be cold for survival (actually feels guilty for already ordered many people to be killed). With other humans, it seems like they are in a place where the ashes don't reach. He met one of the ex-machina when he investigated alone. "She" wants to understand human's heart, which she thinks the reason they are still alive in this world. While investigating on their enemies together, he made up his mind. He found out that other groups are only doing "game" and decided to create rules for the game that exist later. "She" is the one who destroyed the world, and he notices, yet he wants to marry "her". Hikasa-san's character was not teasing, but actually cares about the main character and adapted the couple as her brother and sister. He challenged enemies to get the peace in return to sacrifice himself. "She" went to complete, but met that Jibril and lost. Leader-looking ex-machina came to him and wanting to continue the plan. ex-machina vs elves... World in peace because he sacrificed himself. Game between main character and God of game continues. So the "sister" became queen and still keeps that circulet thing that has the name of three of them. |

Even after reading the source material the feels still hit me, also I'm happy that I got to see Azriel, not in a cameo. Anyway, I'm glad that the history of this great war that has been mentioned throughout the series is finally explained to us and how it started and concluded, which was fairly interesting. Overall I'll give this a solid 8.5 maybe a few extra points just because of the OSTs. Hopefully, the second season is able to come out soon, I heard they generated a lot of revenue over this. |

oh no I forgot to save my message. Stupid me. I will make this quick. After the lackluster anime movies from other series (SAO and mahouka specifically) I was not expecting something so amazing. It was simply perfect in too any ways to handle. PErfect animation, I totally forgot how amazing the character design in NGNL was and also the coloring, just wow. The sound design was top notch, the voice acting was on point. The story was touching and fitted perfectly as a prequel. It could have explained one or two things more thus making a full 2h movie what I take it. The purest form of hype I witnessed in a long long time. 9/10 PS: I was cured from the "Season 2 when?!" loop, now it is back. And I even have to wait for the blu ray release here. Fuck me. |

Absolutely brilliant, This is by far one of the best movies I've ever seen. Throughout the whole movie I just constantly had chills, emotional tear ups and grins on my face. The movie had everything and it delivered it all so damn well. So much emotion after watching the last scene. Goddamn. T.T It was generally just awesome to learn the origin to the current state of NGNL's world. I really love how the movie excelled at showcasing the resilience of the human race, the heart and willpower that is so centric to humans in general. Even in the series during Sora's king speech, he touched on how Humanity's weakness of not being born with anything is their greatest strength as they can strive to become anything. This movie is just an exemplary example of that very same thing. Riku's speech and the way he rigged the war was epic as hell. I loved how Schwi grew to understand the human heart and it shows so much during her fight with Jibril. The feeling of wanting to live even if death is supposed to hold no meaning for the ex machina. I teared up in the finale to the battle as Jibril just blasted her away with Schiwi saying she was happy to have met Riku. T.T The animation for the fight was stunning, well technically the entire movie had outstanding animation. Based Madhouse nailed this movie in every aspect, visuals, directing, sound. Brilliant just brilliant. Huge props to them. I'm really gonna miss Riku and Schwi, I really grew to love both of them over the course of this movie. :( "Oh God of the game! My life is worth nothing now! But I'm offering it to you, for the first time in my life, I pray to you! I'm begging you! That even if a loser ,a cheat, someone who would steal and fall into disgrace. That even if these hands are stained with blood. Please! Please say it all meant something, that we meant something! Anyone, Please tell me you can put an end to this war! Please take the Suniaster!" *Tet walks forward* This got me so emotional that I cried like a kid. T.T "Purely of your own willpower, you went from beasts to walking on your own two legs. Attaining knowledge and becoming who you are today. A nameless race, but I the one true God shall give you a name. Immanity" Beautiful. T.T The fact that Steph's stone in her necklace is the very same one that Couronne is very touching. Please give us S2 Madhouse. 10/10, so much heart in this movie. |

Damn I waited so long and it was so worth it. The art, characters, and music were easily 10/10. I can't deem it a masterpiece though because the story seemed a little rushed at some parts, which was kinda of a let down - I love the NGNL series and I just wanted as much as possible; I'd be totally okay with a 3 hour movie. Overall, with my bias toward me lowing NGNL/NGNLzero, easy 9/10. One of the animations I've seen in a while. |

This Movie is for those who throw hate upon the fun filled and collorfull NGNL series for its comedy and ecchi. It's a mature war drama with hints of romance with a powerfull and optimistic massage: Humans will always go further, doesn't matter how much the odds are aginst them. This is one of the best anime and animated cinematographic experiences I' ve ever had. NGNL Zero is truly a masterpiece. I am writing it with tears in my eyes. Riku and Schwi will play with the Game God again! 11/10 |

Decent movie. It showed something different compared to the TV show, but 100 min weren't enough to get invested with the romance. There were still some moments where I got a bit emotional and it was an entertaining watch overall, especially cause like the show it was a visually pleasing experience. |
