Oh, I'm pretty sure the next episode will be quite exciting. We're on the last 6 chapters of Neko (white) anyway, if I'm not mistaken.

I might sound forceful but people who watch for excitement should look elsewhere. I mean common, third season in you'd think it would be well ingrained that this series prioritizes a list of things above nitty gritty excitement.

Back to the episode at hand; sooo coool. The way they concluded the focal point of Hanakawa's troubles was wonderful. Plus I hope they were hinting at the soon arrival of Kizumonogatari, after all I feel as if it's unveiling is inevitable after including that scene.

P.S - Hanakawa making Araragi's bed. Is there not a greater joy??

I can't believe there are still people like this here. This is the third season. You'd think they'd know what to expect by now.

Ah, listen. I find Monogatari to be enjoying BECAUSE of the quirky character interactions, dialogue, and all of that good stuff mixed in that makes it good. I know exactly what to expect from this series.

You know what I feel like I got? Some half assed interactions with some alright dialogue that all just felt very bland. So yes, it IS possible for the anime to be boring and the point of it isn't to be boring. Monogatari is intriguing and enjoying for its heavy dialogue and quirky animation style and script. When the quality of the things that make the franchise such a joy to watch goes down lower, enjoyment does too.

Please stop dismissing everyone who thinks this way as "not understanding" or as "stupid haters" or "dont like it don't watch it" when you don't even understand why they're saying what they are.

Aha, and where is the difference now? We don't have a male harassing the girls. The latest episode had almost none ecchi but introduced two new characters. Both referring to interesting things and backstory. One is a half-vampire who had history with Hanekawa and the other one is the senpai of specialists, who claims to know everything. They both came to the town to do something, most likely something Koyomi is involved in.
That's the most interesting episode so far, and people complain about it beeing boring?
Half-assed and boring dialogue? The dialogue with mom Araragi, Gaen and the last bit was more interesting than any of what happened so far.

And the pacing... we had Bakemonogatari so far.. which had something happen because it was split into two volumes (2x 200 pages) just like Neko and Nise, but it had several different arcs, so there was always something happening in the anime. Pretty much every 3 episodes were somewhat of a climax.
Then we had Nise, kind of similiar, the pacing was faster since which is an exeption overall, but the novels and anime were different anyway. The male visited new people like every episode and joked around or whatever. The novel had a 30 pages fight with Karen and the endfight with Kagenui, all the characters were already introduced and available so there was a lot to show.
Neko Kuro was only 4 episodes since it was the first half of Nekomonogatari (200 pages) so it was rather fast paced, the novel on the other hand was quite boring.
Now Neko Shiro. The rest of Nekomonogatari, less characters and more focus on Hanekawa since it's about her dealing with her own problems which people apparently don't get or care about, first episode a tiger appeared ( no one gives a crap in the forum), later a shower scene which got enhanced in the anime and suddenly everyone is all over that one episode, now new intriguing characters were introduced (so boring!) and all that's left is the usual climax.
I don't get it myself. The ecchi gets the highlight in the past episodes but then a episode like this is shown and very little discussion about it. This episode should be very interesting in knowing Hanekawa better in a deeper setting along with a new character (or two) but doesn't seem like so. From what I've read not many like Hanekawa for whatever reason. I shouldn't be surprised since I've read people on this very forum website calling Hanekawa a bitch... yeah talk about epitome of stupid.

Did you watch Commie subs or something? Maybe that's what added to it being boring? I just got done watching theirs and talk about lost in translation. Won't do that again I'll stick to Daisuki.

Maybe it's something I just am not seeing but how can anybody find this or any other monogatari episode boring? Maybe I'm going off but perhaps either people just don't enjoy knowing a character (maybe people too in real life?) in a deeper context or aren't interested in a show heavy on dialogue where they await patiently the conversation then something "interesting" occurs? That's the impression I get. I see a lot of laziness in not just that but in many other things such as the words people chose to express themselves. Well who knows I'll be enjoying the heck out of Hanekawa as main character.

I love you mugimugi ;_;

It's impossible for me to find any Monogatari episode boring. I'm slightly getting annoyed by people bashing on Hankewa, I honestly don't find her boring at all. I think her character is great and complex due to her unique psychological state of mind, she is well written, likable and believable and I like how Niso uses her to represent real life problems. Hankewa dialogue and interactions are also not boring, her dialogue contained a lot of nice word play and symbolism that was interesting. And her interactions and relationship with Hitagi were really well done.

''I'm white. I'm too white. I'm pure white. So white.....White lies of ignorance'

I lost count of how many times I listened to that ^. I love every single voice actor in the Monogatari series their voice just fit the characters so well.

I actually really liked that this episode didn't have a lot of ecchi or fans-service. Loved the introduction of Episode and Gaen. And I was very glad of the introduction of Araragi's mother, her dialogue, her voice, her looks and ahoge were all so great. 5/5

Look how beautiful and amazing the setting for the introduction of Gaen was. The art of Monogatari is still superb. As far as I'm concerned this is better than Nisemonogatari and it's only been 4 episodes. I'm actually scared and at the same excited of the possibility for this to surpass Bakemonogatari :) .

Yea plot wise Bake is not that great and it just a build up for stuff later one, I'm not gonna even argue that. I'm guessing all of this will be tied together in the final season, in my mind I'm picturing the final season to be incredibly plot heavy and serious where Niso ties everything together.

From what I know the majority will most likely love the next arc more than this.

Bake is still my favorite so far the character interactions were great and it was full of emotional moments. Nise was full of many funny scenes and Shinobu! Neko was just made me curious about Kizu, other than that pretty much everything was shown in Bake already.

But now since we got past all most the characters introductions and backstory is that the story is starting to unfold and it feels like something bigger is happening.

At first I didn't think Gaen was all that interested untill I read she was connected to Kanbaru and then I remembered that scene of Kaiki in Nise.

When a series has so much likable characters I don't think it ever gets boring. As long as you care for the characters it's never boring. Even if i personally don't like Hanekawa very much, the change of pace of having her be the lead for the arc in itself is very interesting.

This episode was very interesting I must say. And I think theyre hunting down Araragi? or Shinobu?

I haven't read the novels so this is mere speculation.
I think that Gaen and Mr.Episode are there to hunt Shinobu. In fact, I believe the sole reason why we haven't seen Araragi up till now is precisely because he's doing his best to protect Shinobu from being assaulted. And the reason to keep him so busy is to make sure that Araragi will not intervene and try to help Hanekawa. It's to make her finally address her own problems herself. Because we all know that Arararagi-san is just that kind of guy who can't sit still and does his best to help his friends whenever they are in trouble. That's why I think the hunt on Shinobu is arranged by Senjougahara, Kanbaru, and Meme. In a way it's somewhat similar to the Nise's beginning, when we find Koyomi handcuffed by the overprotective Hitagi.

I am kind of worried about the pacing of the next arcs. All the following stories were about ~400 pages. Neko Kuro was 4 episodes (~200 pages) and Neko Shiro 5 episodes (~200 pages). Bake Vol 1 and 2 as well as Nise Vol 1 and 2 (~200 pages each) were 11-15 episodes.
But it looks like the following arcs are going to be 5 episodes as well?

I believe shaft is not caring about the length of the books by now unless the next episodes will be seamless. My guess:
Neko: 5
Everyone knows this already.
Kabuki: 6

Otori: 6

Oni: 3

Koi: 6

I have this gut feeling Oni will be the shortest because many chapters are just useless dialogue.

Really not sure if serious. I actually watched Daisuki and CR for the first episode and the translation is terrible plus hardly any signs are translated. I'm usually hating on Commie too but Vale and some JP guy are doing an original translation for them this season and I think it's rather good, especially with the alternatives.

I don't know about Commie I watched both subs for every episode and Horrible subs seem better aside from translating signs. Maybe because they are more literal in translation while Commie change the wording to make it short or something and they do mess up some puns.

They're both human just like the translator(s) for Daisuki. How is one better then the other?

Both do what they can but with Daisuki they at least tried to get the pun across to the English reader with I guess their version of translation note in parenthesis and I actually can follow along the conversation. Unlike Commie which do change the pun into something else that ain't even close and conversation that just makes me lose interest. Commie ain't exactly known by trying to stick closer to the Japanese meaning. Just look at how much they despise honorifics and how much is lost from that.

If your swooned by translated signs more power to you, that is the task their assigned for and you shouldn't expect signs to be translated by Daisuki to do a thorough job at that. I mean it's like expecting Crunchyroll to do the same thing. Heck even Funimation fails to do that much in the home video releases. Why they don't do it, who knows but fansubbers are there to do their failed job for them. If you like Commie that's cool but for me despite Daisuki being literal (which at many times thus far has worked) I'd watch them then watch conversations that make no sense at all especially for a show like Monogatari and especially this episode.

Much of it is going to be lost in translation, so why lose even more? It doesn't make sense to me.
