| I see some people complaining the manga and light novel handled this better, and while I sort of agree (edgy Naofumi > anime Naofumi), I still found myself enjoying this episode quite a bit. Nothing was out of character for these incarnations of the Shield Hero characters (Naofumi not demanding execution, etc. etc.). The soundtrack was just as good as it has been the past few episodes, as well. Are they really just going to drop him needing a month to recover, though? That's a giant oversight if I've ever seen one. This was 21 odd weeks in the making and it was pretty satisfying. I feel fulfilled with this episode. |
| Again the Anime just show Naofumi in a more heroic light, why? In the LN and manga, it's Naofumi who ask that Malty to be executed on the spot and the queen reject that decision and suggest something else and that how they come up with the "Trash" and "bitch" names. The king isn't even a bad guy he's just blinded by his hatred to the shield hero Besides, the queen ordering her husband and daughter to be executed on the spot line in her character moving forward, in the LN/Manga she manipulated Naofumi into sparing them actually which show how badass and smart she is. Here she was just about to beg Naofumi to spare these 2 instead |

The worst thing is, they are right. They are trashing the original to receive scores. Worst you can do to an art - ponder to the mass at the expense of art. That doesn't excuse changing Naofumi's whole character, this event also has an impact on many scenes going forward and Naofumi being this nice guy goes against it all. This whole situation was set up just to make Naofumi look good when he saves their lives because the queen wasn't forced at all to carry the execution if she didn't want it. it also butchers the queen character from being a badass who actually played Naofumi into helpless queen who was about to beg him for her family life. |
| Well it was kinda good-ish, but I kinda prefer that Malty and the King, get their heads chopped off. So, the queen seems to have some reservations about killing the king and Malty, but Naofumi see through her........................... So a lesser punishment of naming the king as trash and Malty as Bitch Slut would be enough. Man this was sooooo awesome that I have to watch it again. |

Of course neither the queen nor Naofumi were going to let them die, after all we are talking about her daughter and husband and in Naofumi's case, no matter how "edgy" he is, it is not the same to hate, hold a grudge and wish bad things happen to someone to have their life in your hands and let them die or kill them. The punishment is more debatable, since not only did they fucked Naofumi or in Bitch's case, tried to kill Melty, but they also fucked the rest of the world, so the punishment may seem soft but I really don't know how much it can affect them so until I see it I reserve my opinion. And it was a nice moment when, on leaving the castle, Naofumi met the people who had supported him, but sad the farewell with Melty, I hoped she would stay with them. What I find curious is that nobody mentions the appearance of the green-haired girl from the opening, and I already like her but I wonder what role she'll play, because she looks like a main character but she's supposed to be in the archer's party so who knows.   |

| I loved this episode. Not because of Naofumi's name being cleared - I stopped caring about it long time ago, and probably so did he. Thing that really won me was him not wanting to execute them: something I'd normally hate and call cheezy shounenish trope, but it felt so damn good here. I consider it culmination of his development (rehabilitation? lol), as such decision would be impossible for him in early episodes. To be honest I wish it ended here. That was perfect way to end anime. No idea what will happen next, but I doubt there will be more suitable ending. |

| I really wanted the other three heros (especially the speer idiot) to apologize to Naofumi and openly admit their mistakes... instead they just pretend to be best buddies now like they didn't mistreat him. But bitch and trash got what they deserved. :) |

| Again this was so damn different from the manga, like literally, but I knew they'd change things up considering that they had Naofumi be all soft when Raph was about to kill the person that tortured her. I'm not even mad at this, the way they handled scenes were great, I actually prefer this over the manga for some reason, just felt more satisfying. For anyone curious on how it went there, here. They first went in and barged while Trash king was still on the throne, queen literally dethrones him and iced his ass out of that seat, and then. Overall, I'm satisfied with the conclusion, here I was sure they were gonna fuck it up, loved how I was proven wrong. How did it go in the LN? cause in the manga they made it seem as if Naofumi got played by the queen via having bitch and trash beg Naofumi to save the world and it was also the queen that initiated the idea of the other method besides execution. The anime had Naofumi come into terms with it and as the queen said Nao may have seen through her that she was all along planning to have herself die instead of her daughter and husband. This was a major up compared to the manga, I enjoyed the hell out of this episode. 4 more to go. |

Imagine the constant psychological and emotional trauma they'll have to endure from now on; I wouldn't be surprised if one of them committed suicide after they break under all that strain brought about by overwhelming distress. |

| I was waiting for this episode to drop the show, look I'm not that big of a fan of the manga but at least it was a little bit interesting. In the manga Naofumi is absolutely ecstatic at the idea of having a revenge, he wants them dead and enjoy every last bit of their punishment. Now Naofumi is your good old kind hearted hero who find all of the solution by still giving them a punishment but keeping them alive because of "his remorse". There is no development of character Naofumi is already kind, have the ability to forgive and is considered by everyone a hero . So yeah every character is becoming bland, there is nothing to develop anymore, nothing to keep the show going. A clear drop for me. |

| The Queen is hot...can we not just agree on that much? Like oof. This felt like a rushed season finale more than anything. I don't see how much can be covered in the next 4 weeks without major content cutting. If anything, this should have been the last episode and if ratings and profits were good enough...a season 2 would be arranged. |

| I think we've all been waiting for this to happen. Definitely very satisfying to see Myne get what she deserves. However, I do think the execution of it all could've been better. Too needlessly sexualized at times and the way all the frustrations suddenly just vanished so quickly almost made it leave a void afterwards. Like it felt like a rushed final episode except it's not even the final episode at all. Idk Still a great watch though, but could've been better still |

It's just a post-hoc justification for the contrived setup of the first episode. Once again, the complete lack of skill on the part of the author and show writers is apparent, in that their entire story hinges on contrivances layered on conveniences. Good writing doesn't matter; all that matters is propping up this half-assed story so that the self-insert justice porn can happen. As if we need additional examples of how terrible and one-dimensional these characters are, when the queen informs Naofumi that he will be rewarded, Raphtalia responds with "Naofumi Sama!!!" and Filo wonders if this will be enough money to buy lots of food. These characters are cardboard cutouts with no other purpose than to serve as waifu bait to salivating fanboys. Speaking of which, the crowning moment of the episode is when Malty has the slave crest forcibly applied to her cleavage, followed by multiple shots of her bouncing tits as she is restrained and tortured. Anybody still want to argue that the location of the slave seal isn't for cheap fanservice? Notice that we don't get to see thing King's chest at any point. Funny, that. The rest of the episode isn't worth mentioning except in passing; it's just a continuation of the justice porn and self-insert fanservice. If this is what "one of the better another world stories" has been building towards, I am not impressed. But of course people are already blaming the adaptation for being bad and pulling punches; anything to avoid facing the reality of how garbage this series really is. Edit: Also, I like how when the church is abolished nobody gives a shit. They're like "sounds good!" and toss their pendants into the square. What happened to all the history with the devil of the shield that made it so easy for everyone to hate him? I guess the story just got tired of having people hate on the shield hero for no reason, so now they are okay with him for no reason. Did we watch the same show? Because you don't seem to understand. Naofumi was sleeping for 3 days, he will be fully recovered in 1 month. The king did genuinely hating Naofumi. He really believes the Shield Hero is a devil. He does not have a reason to lie whereas Malty is a pathological liar. Hell, she lied to the end even though she were suffering. Peasants just obey the monarchy. Monarch says believe this church, they do it. Monarch says believe this shit, they will do it. History proves this. |

| I loved the way the truth was revealed with a magic that we were already familiar with. I didn't like that the punishment was as simple as death. The new punishment also wasn't that good. I had heard that the conclusion to Myne was really satisfying. Well, I am not that satisfied! This episode looks like a nice ending for the season, but MAL says there are still more episodes left. Hope they don't ruin anything! |
