I think HQ knows that Norman is the leader of the group and quickly defuses the rebellion by telling Mama to abruptly announce Norman's day of execution in order to quell any rebellion. I think the truth is Norman is alive and is kept in a cell somewhere.

What I gather from this episode is, Mama really is not the enemy. She's really not happy with what she's doing. She's doing her job to basically survive and she's gone through hell as well. She had to go through an unwanted pregnancy just to become a "Mama" of the farm. It's a matter of a demand/supply economics. The demand for young healthy brains is coming from the thirsty demons. Mama(s) of the farms are just peasants growing their crops who are forced to do it to survive.

Btw, i haven't read the LN or manga for this anime. So is this an isekai thing? Cos there's alot of unknowns here. Even if they end up escaping the farm, will they survive outside? Is it a human world governed by demons? Or a demon world employing humans as slaves and cattle?

The only way out so far is through that secret door to HQ which is behind the bookshelf. I don't think they can make something to cross that cliff in a few days. Maybe they can make something that can glide? Or parachute? But you'd fall too fast to reach the other end. Someone really needs to make a reconnaissance mission to HQ. Phil is perfect for the job. So far, he's the only one who can even sneak behind Mama without her knowing.

A decent episode. I feel like they removed some tension of the manga (such as Emma trying to save Norman and Mama threatening to kill her for doing so), but most of it stuck up. I am glad that they kept the manga original comic scene of using the "tin can telephone", though; that was genuinely heartwarming.

For those who don't know, you're in for one hell of a treat in the following few episodes. Mark my words (:
What tension are you talking about? It's the same order of events, right?

It is; however, what I'm saying is that it lost some of its manga counterpart's tension and lacked the aesthetic, aura, and tone—Mama Isabella provides much more of a serious tone and is considerably more demeaning in her original incarnation.

well the humans are probably under control by all those so called demons but i guess there will always be a group of people resisting just like with Half Life 2 for example

I'm going to keep my hope up that Norman is not dead since he was brought into a room rather than the cart.

This bring us back to my initial suspicion that the Mom is actually on the children side. Mom actually shake Emma up with that speech of her because she's afraid that the children might have really given up on the escape. That would mess up the entire "real" plan instead.

This anime truly is a gem!

The suspense, the tension, the dread, the agony...everything is so well paced, the fact that I LITERALLY don’t have a clue as to what is going to happen is excitarting and exactly what I want out of a Mystery.

IF another anime is going to beat this one in 2019...it’s gonna have to do a really great job, because right now, this show is absolutely exquisite!

My only hope is that the last two episodes are as great as the first 10 have been.

I never expected to enjoy this anime as much as I have.

Bravo.

To reiterate what someone else has already said - we haven't seen the definitive end of Norman so I'm still holding out a tiny bit of hope that he'll be OK.

Also to reiterate the comment of the person above me - bravo, this series is truly a magnificent work of the highest calibre. It has it all - brilliant suspense, characterisation, OST and voice acting. It towers head and shoulders above anything else this season! I would have never expected this show to take me to the deep and dark places it has.

we keep hearing moms, about children, how at max at 12 years, you are supposedly shipped (or well, we know what that's suppose to mean)....

So....what am i missing here? If i somehow mixed my biology class, you still need adult male to actually "produce" these children (or well, help in that :P ). Did i miss something, or is anime so far somehow entirely missed this entire thing. Like, if all male are "shipped" by 12 at best, who's actually producing these children. As i understood, all male are suppose to be dead before they ever can help with that, so, how then?
You only need sperm from males and there are humans that are not in these facilities. About being a mother technically women can start having them at 12-13 but is better to wait at least until they reach maturity around 15-16 because that decreases the chances for miscariage or the woman dying at birth. What they do for those few years the Krone flashback tells us they are trained and indoctrinated.

The hot Mom is getting on my nerves, I kinda feel like slapping that bitch up, we still don't know what the letter that sister Krone left says and to this point everything seems hopeless.

I'm still waiting to see the fuzz about this Phil kid because by now everyone should know that the kid will be important somehow. I bet Phil told something to Emma when he hugged her, whatever he told her will be a game changer but for fucks sake, I'm getting desperate with the slow pace. I'm just waiting for this anime to end to start reading the manga because I don't want to be spoiled before the anime but at this rate I won't care about being spoiled before season 2 if there's ever going to be any.

I like the expressions the characters make in this anime, specially the hot Mom but yeah, I want to slap that bitch up but sometimes they do go overboard with the expressions, I feel like the "evil" expression Emma did at the end is one of those cases, that evil expression wasn't necessary and the "evil" expression Ray made when Norman figured out that he was the traitor wasn't necessary either considering that he was a good guy from the beginning.

It is a very good anime overall. Always manages to keep you hooked. Only complaint I have is that because it is shounen, it is a bit predictable once you watch/read too many suspense-thrillers.

Great episode.

Norman is gone yet still alive, that's for sure since we didn't see him "dying". I wonder if Isabella might be helping him somehow I mean, she looked quite disturbed when he asked her if she was happy. Not to mention that during the talk with Emma, she looked like she was talking about her own experience when she had her age but unlike Emma, she ended up accepting the cruel reality. I don't know, I find Isabella's character so intriguing that I actually can't feel any hate towards her and for that reason, I hope we can get more background information about her past and stuff since I'm really curious about it, being honest.

That said, I'm really looking forward to seeing how this arc will conclude.

P.S.: Emma and Norman were just adorable together when they were younger >.<

another hint was when norman asked Isabella if she is " Happy " , so you might be right .

A really dull, nearly pointless filler episode. We know from the very beginning that there's no chance Norman will be killed unless we see it happen. Even then I wouldn't be surprised if there was some trickery involved. This means that there are no stakes to the entire episode. So they just wasted their time trying to sell us on something we aren't going to buy.

Even if it were true, it's bland moping from both sides. We don't need to see or dwell on it. I wouldn't have even expected Emma or Ray to believe it either. The whole episode's events could have been cut down to a few minutes without losing anything.

As for speculation, I agree that it's telling that tge kids are shipped just before puberty. The supply is coming from somewhere, and there's a lot more to ve explored there.

I'd also really like to see more exploration into Mother's history. How she found out the truth, how she dealt with it, did she try to escape, how she was recruited, taking what seems to be the one possible chance at a future, how she dealt with that, etc. Emma's too emotional and naive to make that choice, but a pragmatic child like Ray would almost certainly do whatever they had to in order to survive.

Mama talked about a "Waiting room" so I guess that Norman is just waiting for his actual delivery date, Ray et Emma are delivered at their anniversary date so I guess Norman il just waiting for his anniversary date too, for a better brain quality. He surely isnt dead.

A guy at the first page said that Ray's melody is going to be important, And it's indeed surprising that Ray was singing a Melody since there is no lyrics in the melody, and I don't think that there is a way to listen to music in Grace Field. I guess he heard it before he was sent to Grace Field, since he doesnt have the infantile amnesia thing.

The paper Ray was reading in December is probably important too, we still don't know what Sister Krone gave to Norman, it's probably the paper Ray was reading in December, maybe Norman hid it in a book and Ray just found it 1 month after.

It's also weird that Mama is pushing Emma to become a Mama since it's not like she would win anything doing that. Just a theory but maybe Mama wants to take the "GrandMa" seat and she has to recruit new Mamas so as to.

This was, overall, a good episode. I felt sad for the characters and I loved the flashback: it was nice to see them all cute and innocent. They also humanize Mother which can lead to some interesting moments.

HOWEVER

It's obvious that Norman isn't gonna die: I still felt sorry for him (especially the cockblocking moment:) but yeah, I fully believe he is gonna make it somehow.

Also the way they try to humanize Mother is weird: she acts creepy then has 2 seconds of humanity, then goes back to being creepy again followed by another 2 secondes of humanity then creepy again... I know what they try to do here, to create a complex vilain but I think it could be handled better.

The ending was way too obvious and that's because every goddamn episode has this need to have a cliffhanger/twist ending which is now annoying. You can't suprise the viewer if you use the same tricks over and over again (looking at you too Shyamalan).

Also love how Gilda and Don are still f*cking useless and seem to barely care about anything: we don't even see them cry when Norman is leaving! They are just there, looking a little bit sad but do they actually do or try something? Of course no. Man, can we trade both of those useless ass for Conny? At least she was likable.

This episode was very good, just like the previous one (both of them are by far the best ones in my opinion).
The music was so good. It added a nice atmosphere to the emotional scenes, particularly the flashbacks and the farewell.

That ending felt like a cliffhanger for me(Emma's expression mainly).
What's with her look? Does she have some kind of plan in spite of all those cry moments??
Eagerly waiting for the next episode..

As a manga reader it's kind of disappointing. I really did hope they cut out that close up since it totally spoils whether Norman is dead or not. Also, they cut a scene when the next morning, Emma looked at the empty seat and thought of him.

As a manga reader I thought that the episode was amazing. Even if they cut that scene it would still being obvious that he's alive because: if they spend 10 minutes showing Krone's death, why would they skip Norman's death?
And it's normal that they cut some scenes, they don't have infinite time. They put Emma hearing Norman's voice and that's all that was necessary to show what that scene means (her seeing the empty spaces where Norman and his things were supposed to be): that she didn't accepted that he's really "dead"

This has been the most emotional episode of Neverland yet for me. Holy...

It always kills me to see the younger children reacting to Emma, Norman, and Ray and this episode was no exception. Pretty sure Mama is hiding something else as well, but we'll see if that's the case in the last two episodes, I suppose. I could be completely wrong.

This show is without a doubt perfect so far. We just need an absolutely solid ending.

This anime got really good again these last two episodes. The first half had me shaking in near tears the entire time and the second had me speculating and connecting things.

It was sad to watch Emma and Ray struggle to deal with this and realize Norman was never going to escape to begin with. I especially adored the move Emma did where she did the crutch sprint and tried to forcibly deactivate his device to force him to escape, for if he didn't the anti tracking device would all be for naught. She was willing to stomp with her broken leg injuring it even more to save Norman, further, we know how fast moms are, and if Norman ran she could grab him. It was a horrible plan and if it worked it would most likely end in Norman being taken anyway and that device becoming useless. So, to see her go to that length to try and preserve her ideal of keeping everyone alive, especially when it was her best friend Norman, it was powerful. Further, Ray showed his love so immensely. He was willing sacrifice everyone but the three of them and I think he stayed disconnected from the others as to not feel for their losses. He did everything for Norman and Emma. For Norman to die, in his eyes at least, meant indeed his years of being moms spy was for nothing. Everything he did wasn't enough to save Norman and once he accepted that, much quicker than Emma did I might add, he couldn't even face him. Great showcasing of their personalities and love for each other.

But, going off of that, Norman is so not dead. I want to point out how Isabella was characterized to have compassion twice this episode.
1. When she was walking off with Norman and he showed concern for her taking her off guard, later she said she was grateful to have known him, she's glad she could meet someone like him.

2. When she was trying to convince Emma to become a mom. We saw in her past that she saw the cliff too. Her mom, now known as grandma convinced her to become a mom too probably with the exact same tactics, and even exact same speech. I say this because she knew how Emma felt before she was able to express it, "how could I become such a thing" is what you're thinking, because I almost certainly argue she felt that same emotion as a girl before learning to stop resisting herself. When Isabella left her expression changed slightly in a way that reads to me as compassion, she felt for Emma because she too was once her.

With the numerous compassionate sides of mom being shown, we need not even bring up her cherishing Conny's drawing after she was let go, we can see that she does have a genuine care for the kids and reasons for how she acts. More so, she didn't kill Norman in the way Conny or Krone died. Norman was taken another route. On top of the compassionate mom we've seen, I think that she took Norman elsewhere to save him, to let him out somehow and to trick the higher ups. Further, Norman taking the makeshift walkie talkies is obviously going to come back and I think it will by Norman planting it where Emma is and talking to her through it, prompting Emma to have to try and explain to Ray that she wasn't hallucinating Norman still being alive.

Going even further, the only plausible ways for them to escape are climbing down the cliff which is practically impossible and literally impossible as for bringing everyone with them. However, the other is to go out the front door in HQ. I strongly think the way that will happen is Isabella, who is a future version of Emma who did give up, will change her mind, she will see herself in Emma and realize she is the girl Isabella was too weak to be when she was in her shoes. And for that, she will give Emma a chance and team up with our kids to help them escape!

Great episode. Lots to think about. And very moving stuff.

dammit i actually shed a little tear, the childhood scene with the cup phones was absolutely adorable. i almost know for certain that norman can't actually die though, he'd had to of gotten out of that in some way. rule of thumb: if there's no shown corpse, it isn't confirmed.
i'm absolutely thrilled watching this, i hope there's a season 2. emma's face at the end makes me think she's got something up her sleeve
