| I think it's good depending on the anime, in some more serious anime it might not improve it, it may even detract from the show, for example death note or attack on titan. Again not hating on fan service, I quite like it just saying it probably shouldn't be in everything. |
| I love some hot waifus so I think it improves series. I watched many series on the basis of liking certain characters designs like Konosuba and Dress up Darling. Fanservice improves a series for me, and I like fanservice based humor. |

| I'll preface this by saying I'm a mostly straight woman. I do like fan service. In my opinion, fan service is fine as long as they balance it out. For example, if a series is going to have female characters in a state of undress, then male characters should be seen in similar states of undress. Also, characters and plot are just as important. |

It can help set the tone, lead to character development, or provide "ecchi relief" (like comic relief, where there's a particularly harsh scene and a bit of fanservice can aid in calming people down). There's a time and a place for it, though, and there are shows that are actively harmed by their fanservice as well as anime without fanservice that would be worsened by its inclusion. |

| Catering to "fan service" has ruined so many of my favorite anime for example later seasons of Zero no Tsukaima, I loved Zero no Tsukaima season 1, not sure how the og light novel was but the first season had stroooong Harry Potter feels for me. Same with Shakugan no Shana here and there, and it was annoying when it popped up in Oh My Goddess anywhere at all. It got crazy ridiculous here and there in Minami-Ke to, lol. |

| fan service are important but sometimes is overused. but after all it depends on what is the anime about if is a very heavy ecchi or not. for example if a very serious serious top of the notch anime such as Gundam series for example were to abuse of fan service that anime will drop its quality and overall value or ranking because is a anime that usually are very serious and tension making about fictional conflicts. so that's what I mean by the overuse. if is a comedy or a ecchi anime is more than welcome. |

| I feel like the main problem with fanservice is that it's too tame, as an adult I feel like you have to at least show the nipple (or do something equivalent) to have any sexual tension at all. To put it another way, its the same problem as with the power rangers, as a member of the audience you know the power rangers are never going to lose so any apparent tension or threat instantly evaporates, you know for a fact that the authors couldn't write it that way even if they wanted to. That is generally how fanservice comes across to me, you have a guy getting excited that he's going to an onsen with his crush or whatever but as a viewer I know for a fact that there's not going to be any developments, I literally have a higher chance of something sexual happening stepping outside cause at least then there's no omnipotent force watching over me making sure nothing PG 12 and up happens (copium). The irony is palpable that a wish fulfillment premise is more subdued than reality. So even though I am conceptually for fanservice, and though there's even some series that I think have good fanservice, in general I would rather there was less of it but more explicit and purposefully executed. |
