Having Saki and Arisa in this episode with Tohru made this finale quite lighthearted. The cat jokes aside, this episode showed again how close Kyo is with Tohru now.

Yuki and Machi also had their moment (including a kiss!) which shows how close they've grown over the series. He's also able he appreciated Tohru in this finale. Glad they didn't forget about the other Zodiacs in this finale including Haru, Rin, Momoji, etc. either.

I think it's a well rounded finale to cap off this main series altogether. Definitely enjoyed it overall.

Tohru and Kyo on a date, plus Arisa and Saki because they're good chaperones friends. But eventually, their time will be short as adulting comes, and the one that earns the most experience is the unassuming girl herself, being thrown around the Soma Family back and forth.

Yuki and Machi being teased by Manabe is a given lols. But Machi cn be a real tsundere when it comes to love.

Even the other Somas are living life anew, now that there are no walls between outsiders and the Soma Family. One such case is Arisa's crush with Kureno, finally sorting out her feelings towards him. The most surprising is Akito wearnig woman-like clothes for Shigure, now that's a big change.

The homecoming of Tohru, Yuki and Kyo, plus the other Soma Family members, it's all thanks to Tohru for un-intentionally starting the chain of the breaking of bonds for love, even if it's small steps for all to lead to a big change. Yuki treating Tohru like his one and only mother (and that time to go), and Kyo and Tohru eventually reaching their end future.

We've finally reached the ending of a 20-year-old franchise, the TRUE ending of a juggernaut Shoujo series. Fruits Basket will always be a despotistic story for the ages.

Well, its over.

Honestly, i'm disappointed with the final season. I could understand if the pacing wasn't so chaotic but this anime NEEDS 2-cours like the first 2 seasons, the slow pacing is very important for Fruits Basket, it failed here for being a single cour. Other thing I dislike was Akito's mom, Ren. Obviously, the anime needs to victimize Akito after everything she has done with a new and poorly written antagonist which only purpose is being a bitch to almost everyone in every scene. Due to pacing issues, Akito being suddenly friendly to Tohru is rushed, stupid and forced, the rest of subplots were forcibly concluded and the new side characters introduced in season 2 look like a joke here. The final season has so many disjointed scenes, again due to the chaotic pacing, the most obvious example is Machi and Yuki confession.

Akito is a criminal and she doesn't deserve our pity and much less love. 4/10 for the anime

Season 1: 7/10
Season 2: 7/10
Season 3: 4/10

It's time to say farewell and depart. That guy who wore kimino is wearing male outfit now. Each of them remembering the time w. Tohru, too.

Wow @ time skip to when main two got old to grandparents.

It seems like it's not over yet,

This took a while but we finally at the end, dont really know what to say other that that i really enjoyed all three seasons, the finale obviously the most. This is how i imagine a shoujo juggernaut to part ways with us. And i wish there were more like these in the future. But maybe because there is so few of them was this so good.

This manga/anime is so full of such a good characters, well written, not just washed up trope fillers but actual characters with something in them. Good, bad .. all of them made you really be invested. From the Tohru the main girl to Akito who same as in the manga not everyone simply can forgive, and thats good, thats how it was meant to be thats life.

8/10

Also we getting Kyouko's back story kind of a story :D ? Now thats a fucking hype right there.

The zoo is a very fitting first date spot for Tohru and Kyo. Couldn’t help but getting choked up over Arisa and Saki “giving” Tohru to Kyo. It’s never easy to say goodbye and move on, but that’s always been the core theme of this amazing series. Loved Yuki teasing Machi with the key to his apartment too πŸ˜‚ always been my fave ship.

I like how we see Yuki’s relationship with Tohru come full circle. Yuki initially saw his feelings for Tohru as romantic, but in reality he saw motherly love in her. Because of his lack of experience, he was unable to really contextualise that feeling until the end. Beautiful. Beautiful message.

I can’t believe this beautiful journey has come to an end. I feel so empty and sad. It’s been such an amazing past 2 years. This series has been amazing because there’s so many characters we’ve become attached to. It’s kind of like Harry Potter with such a deep cast and so many ships you want to happen. Glad I got to experience this.

With Furuba getting getting a full adaptation after 20 years, hopefully we see more shojo series popping up. A lot of those 80s and 90s shows were incomplete.

Edit: HYPE for the spin off too.

WHAT AN ENDING! Sad to see it go, hope they animate another! That little snippet at the end was not enough man, where's the rest!

The zoo date is ironically quite fitting, the animals brought them together in the first place and them celebrating the animals - by visiting them - is an intersting nod towards that. The cats not going to kyo is once again reaffirming that the curse has been broken, and that bittersweet smile kyo had says it all. Arisa and Saki are jokes as usual, especially the latter, with her mystique and her espers powers, and arisa really reminding me a lot of kyoko. Their message to kyo was sweet, take her and make her happy but don't upset her or you're dead lol. They're obviously sad to see her go but we all move to better things in life.

Yuki and machi's interactions are still funny, him teasing her insecurities in a loving way, and her violent tendencies haven't seemed to slow down either xD. Their convo was nice, getting across that they'll miss each other and tohru but move on to better things and still keep in touch with one another, with machi presumably following yuki's footsteps into uni.

I'm still on the rin's side of the fence, how are the rest of the cast going to act like akito is all fine and dandy when they're all dealing with emotional scars and physical scars, it's mad how they glossed over that. I've heard that another solves this, but just because someone's changed in the future with how they raise their children doesn't really excuse their abusive behaviour they had, it just shows they reflected upon it. Like you wouldn't excuse an abuser just because they changed, that feeling of enmity and fear will still remain no matter how long you act differently. Forgiveness is okay, but forgetting about what they did, which is basically what the other cast are doing, seems incredibly stupid to me, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Yuki telling tohru everything was beautifully sweet, calling her his mother and putting the forth the idea that tohru was the mother of god in the zodiac signs, characterised by her saving each and everyone of her 'children'. And tohru crying realising she's actually loved and living life how her mother intended was dramatically nice, the loner girl worked her way through plenty of hardships to get what she wanted surrounded by those who she loves. Brilliant narrative.

That end scene was a bait and switch, I'm not mad I JUST WANT MORE. User @tsubasalover seems to have found a confirmation of a new season and I can't not be hyped for it! Thanks for dropping that knowledge!

Overall, this season suffered horrifical from pacing issues near the latter part, imagine a 24 episode series! But I loved most of it, and my only gripe is akito but forget that, the climax makes it a straight 10/10. Will miss it!

I guess this is goodbye to this beautiful show. The beautiful journey I followed along with all the characters of this show. They made me smile, they made me cry and above all, they taught me a lot of things. I love them all especially Tohru. Such an angel and such a beautiful person. I'm really happy that everyone is going their separate ways and everyone is happy with it.

Goodbyes can be hard but they're for the best. All the couples are pairing up and they all look adorable together. There have been some not-so-good things in this show but overall, one of the sweetest shows I've ever seen. Tohru is so precious and all of them are so kind and generous. I hope they all find their happiness. And, in the end, they actually did. Growing old together with someone you love is one of the biggest wishes someone could have. :')

Great sho, great story, and great characters. Loved it.

one of the better episodes of the season...

we got to see tohru, kyo, and yuki's plans for the future. this episode was a nice wrap-up of the series. ngl i almost teared up at the time skip; so nice to see that their relationship lasted a long time. overall this season wasn't as good as the previous ones so i'm giving it a solid 6/10.

The final episode is not a climax episode so the value it add is less than the previous episode, even with a suddenly 50 years timeskip. But it's good to have an ending that doesn't left any unresolved plot behind. Though there's upcoming movie/OVA next year?

It finally came to an end I'm both sad and happy. This finale made me emotional.
Yuki and Machi seem to be so much closer than before and Kakeru deserved that punch. Kyo and Tohru are gonna move away and everyone is feeling both sad and happy. We get closure to every character. I'm glad they didn't cut that Rin scene out addressing how she will never Akito.
Seeing Akito outside the Sohma estate smilingly happy is making me so happy as a huge Akito fan.
That last scene between Yuki and Tohru is what I've been waiting to see animated it made me very emotional. Yuki can finally tell Tohru that he sees her as a mother and she helped him a lot also it's the first time he says Tohru's name.
We got a glimpse into the future of Kyo and Tohru's family. We didn't see Hajime's face but heard his voice with his wife and his daughter.
Overall this anime was great as its own thing but as an adaptation, they cut some stuff that I'm not happy about but I'm still grateful for this adaptation.
Kyoko and Katsuya will be animated next year.

Oh man, I like how the final ep is not only a farewell to tooru but also a farewell to the series as a whole (well if you exclude :another that is lol). ngl it's not every day you find a series that nails the ending but I guess this is an older one so it makes more sense. Loved how each relevant character got their fair sendoffs

but wow overall this series proves how vital OST and voice acting is when it comes to making drama. It's a great decision they didn't decide to cheap out on the casting because dayum, they really outperformed themselves with this series (especially Uchida Yuuma once again showing why he's an amazing VA).

Beautiful conclusion to this wonderful piece of art!

I probably have a little too much to share right now and once I begin typing like a madman, there'll be no end so I'll just try to keep this as brief as possible lmao.

I'll just start with getting out the few things I wanted more of: Development in Momiji's relationship with his family and, in particular, his sister; a tad bit more of a romantic inclination between the Ayame-Mine, Ristu-Mitsuru and the Hatori-Mayuka couples; and more closure for Hanajima-san (what was with that scene with Kazuma-san by the way?).

As for the things we did end up getting, just thank you to the creators! Even adding "Umareru Negai" for the closing moments, that's just brilliant. Despite what I said above, everyone ended up getting some screen-time and nothing beats that for a finale episode of a multi-season show.

Too much to selectively pick and talk about lol. Even Kakeru got a decent amount, how cool is that? Machi pledging to catch up and the interesting conversation between Hatori-san and Mayuka-san might've been my pick of the lot following the highlight in the "Everyone loves you" Yuki-Tohru moment of course.

It's really sad indeed that everyone will be moving out of that house in due time, truly does feel like the characters are entering a new chapter of their respective lives now.

And that wonderful teaser in the end featuring Tohru and Kyo's granddaughter and son/daughter! Always a fan of those. Good to see they're lovey-dovey as ever too, lol.

All in all, it's been a fantastic season! From a critical point of view, I can see why many would suggest that this season may have dropped a ball or two but the Drama aspect was dealt with heart and for that, this is getting a 9/10 from me! Personally, only the first half of the second season or so dipped in quality a bit. Rest, glorious!

Again, thanks to all the creators and animators for this journey! A Shoujo masterpiece, the series has certainly lived up to those expectations! Animation, Sound Department, Voice Acting, Plot & Enjoyment, all top-tier. Can't wait for the story of Tohru's parents now, I'm just glad that there's still something to look forward to at the moment. We seriously need to get more complete adaptions in the medium.

A perfect send off for a perfect story. An amazing idea to have this finale for the entire series be basically everyone thinking back to how Tohru has impacted their lives and helped them grow. With her and Kyo about to depart for the next step on their journey, the next banquet you could say, of course everyone would look back on what she's meant to them. Yuki is absolutely right talking about how everyone feels that way about her, she was the driving catalyst for most of these events. Tohru came into the Sohmas lives suddenly like a tornado stirring things up. Very sweet of her to look back at the first time she went to that house right as her and Kyo are cleaning it to depart.

Loved the cute little petting zoo date they went on at the start of course with Uotani and Hanajima tagging along, just like they said they would all the way back at the beginning of the series if Tohru ever went on a date. Both giving their seal of approval for Kyo to take Tohru away from them. Even though it will be sad its not goodbye forever and they know Kyo is a good guy whom will take care of her. Yuki spending time with Machi right before he moved off for college, since shes still got one year of high school left. Their scenes were very sweet with Yuki giving her a key to his place.

I love love love the scene at the end with it being a flash forward to Kyo and Tohru granddaughter looking around for them as they have a lovey dovey walk through their garden. It is the sweetest most perfect send off for them. Two people whom for a long time didn't know if growing old together would even be possible, whom both also came from broken homes, now have this beautiful life and family. Everyone setting up their next steps in life was good to see. Its very lonely to say goodbye to someone you love a lot who's helped you out in life but we all must take that next step. Tohru will always been in everyone's hearts. It almost became a bit meta at the end like the author was not only telling the characters that but us the viewers too. This may be the end of the story for these characters but they'll always be a part of us, they'll always be in our heart even as we move on with our lives.

This remake overall from start to finish has been pretty damn incredible. Very few anime get a full adaptation so that alone puts this in rarified air. But the sheer amount of care and devotion to the story's themes and characters showed just how much the anime team cherished this story. Everything from the music to the animation to the voice acting to the scenery to every small detail that was perfectly done. I can't thank the author herself and the people behind the anime for making such a gem. Very few stories can accomplish what fruits basket accomplishes. I'll never forget it. A true all timer. Anime of year 2021 calling it right now.

stay well to all fellow fans of fruits basket and may we see each other again on the forums (perhaps for the OVA or continuation some folk here mentioned) for something even remotely as magnificent, moving and special as fruits basket.

Beautiful epilogue to end the series. I really love it when anime's get proper end like this instead of an abrupt ending.

Really glad to see all the characters leading a happy life, they've come far. The short flashbacks made me quite nostalgic. Also that timeskip with Tohru and Kyo's granddaughter was sweet.

This was a great journey for the past 27 months with this anime. Felt a lot of emotions watching it. Gonna miss this for sure.

I wished that even from reading the original work.

As for the ending, I think just seeing Kyo and Tohru as parents would have been better. All eating together with their children running around and maybe with also other soma's kids....

Anyway Tohru, I loved you when i first read you when i was 13 y.o. I'm now a married 30 yo and I still learn from you a lot. I'm happy that she had the beautiful love story and family that she deserved :)

This.

Granted, we could've had more episodes for the final season, but this episode, in particular the very last scene was everything. Many series fail to give a satisfying conclusion like this, even tho it's not that hard, lol.

Great series and adaptation as a whole. Goes to show what heights a 63 episodes runtime can reach. From comedy, simple interatcions, to dramatic climax, the sheer emotional weight behind all of these mentioned aspects simply cannot be achieved by the standard one or two cour adaptations.

Another + is the amount of characters. Fruits Basket had a colorful cast with many compelling character arcs. Gonna miss them.

Oh my goodness, that was such an emotionally satisfying ending on so many levels. I'm so happy that Yuki told Tohru how he felt about her and I loved the montage showing how Tohru affected the lives of the Zodiac members. I also liked that Rin can't forgive Akito and no one pressured her to do so.

The ending of Kyo and Tohru showing them having a happy, and long loving life was perfect.

Overall, this show has been amazing. <3

An amazing finale for a beautiful series. This is truly the end. I can't believe is actually over. :(

Everyone is moving on with their lives. But that doesn't stop Arisa and Saki from picking on poor Kyo. That was amusing. It was sweet of both of them to tell Kyo to take care of Tohru since they will be moving out.

This finale showed the impact Tohru had on every character in this series. I'm going to miss her bright personality. Yuki finally admitted that he saw Tohru as a mother figure.

Seeing the scenes of the past seasons in the short flashback was nostalgic. It has been a long 2 years but it was amazing because of Fruits Basket.

The ending with Tohru's and Kyou's granddaughter was sweet.

A score down from the two previous seasons, probably because I wasn't able to watch the episodes weekly, but still a satisfying ending for this series.

The reason why Kureno bond broke was that the bond was old anyway.

For most of the others, it was thanks to Akito decision to free them from the old promess.

And Fruits basket is over...
Honestly this episode was so beautiful, Tohru on a date with Kyo is cute and a little funny as well! The Kyo and Tohru moment along with Yuki and Machi were really adorable and done well as well with the others as well which makes you feel really emotional with them about Tohru and Kyo leaving!
Kyo telling Tohru that he sees her as a mother was really heartwarming, and his voice when he was saying ''I'm glad I met you'' really touched my heart!
Overall I really loved this episode as well as the season which was done perfectly from the story telling, to the soundtrack and the art itself! I will really miss waiting every week to watch the episode but honestly I really loved the journey of watching all three seasons of fruits basket!
Overall this is a 10/10 for me! :)

Wait, so they aren't dating??? Are you sure? I mean, maybe in the manga she was hired as a cook but in the anime they're dating since she implied she likes him earlier???

I FREAKING LOVE FRUITS BASKET. AAAAAA I'M GONNA MISS IT SO MUCH.

Finally getting to see the entire manga animated after all these years is an absolute bliss. I love the all characters so much. I was sad when they excluded Katsuya and Kyoko part from the previous episodes but NOW THEY ANNOUNCED THAT THEY WILL ANIMATE IT!! I'M JUST SO HAPPY.

Wonderful way to end the three-year long journey, every character and couple having their moment and moving forward. It was an incredible ride, filled with emotional and joyous moments. I'm thankful to everyone involved. Thank you for this beautiful journey. Thank you for this masterpiece of a show.

In another, Hanajima marries a foreigner. So no, I’m guessing it was kinda a joke???

I'm glad that I decided to watch this series, never thought that I'd like it as much as I did.

Was a pretty decent end to the series imo, gonna miss watching it weekly lol.

I love how they wrapped things up. I was worried about them ending things with them going to Uni, as I would have worried about the stress that would come, and the characters happiness as they take their next steps. However they really came through, and that time skip with Kyo and Tohru at the end completely nailed the ending in my opinion. My heart was so moved, I'm so happy for everyone, and the ending full of hope and love. A really wonderful seriesπŸ’•πŸ’—πŸ’—

Sad it ended, but it was a beautiful story and overall it did provide the source material justice. One of my all time favourites and I am sure I will add to my rotation of the most rewatched media. It is surprisingly deep, well written and simply beautiful.

I loved Tohru and Yuki scene - to me they really are the main stars of the show but I really disliked the way they changed the scene with Rin. It ended on a different note, and made it worse, esp. considering its the series finale.
Loved to see Yuki being the most successful and ambitious of them all. He deserves to be happy.
Akito apparently has a horrible sense of fashion and really looked much better as the bad guy, lol.
The Final had some pacing issues and the animation to me didn't look as good as in season 1-2 to me.
Still, I am delighted Fruit Basket remake happened, it was my highlight and happiness during corona time. My my bond with this story is indeed unbreakable :)

I have just one question: What was the real reason for the "bonds" breaking and why was Kureno the first one who was freed?

I think they'd been weakening all along, i believe it was mentioned by shigure.

The curse was coming to it's end. That was also the reason given for kureno being a sparrow instead of a rooster(and possibly hatori being a seahorse) . That and it was the first time in a really long time since all the zodiac members had been born into the same time span as eachother. The final banquet, with everyone attending. I think it was fated to break, and that the bonds weakening with Akito and Tohru stepping in to support them all into having hope for their futures, may have been fate/a catalyst aswell.
