I cried almost the entire day yesterday. The Hibike Final Novel which I have been looking forward to read is still on my desk and I haven't turned a single page.

KyoAni saved me with their anime for years and made me a better person IRL. It was my solace when I was earning so little that I would split my meals to halves so that I would be able to eat at least twice a day. KyoAni helped me recover from depression with their positivity. With their vivid colour, their stellar animation and stories that are very close to human emotions - profound emotions. And I think many share the same sentiment.

Even if you don't share this sentiment, you are still part of the anime community so spare some thoughts to the victims and at least don't bring up what you didn't like about the studio or their works. This is not the time for something like those.

The best course of action at this time would be to show your support whether you are a fan of KyoAni, a part of the diverse anime community or just a casual anime fan either financially or emotionally.

Financially you can support by clicking the image below (this is an official donation set up by Sentai):

Link: Help KyoAni Heal

Or you may visit KyoAni's official shop and order an item by clicking the image below:

Link: KyoAniShop

Those who are not in a position to help the victims and the studio financially, please do so by showing your emotional support. Use whatever hashtags you find appropriate to get people's attention through social media.

The most used hashtags right now are:
#PrayForKyoAni
#PrayForKyotoAnimation
#KyoAni
#HelpKyoAniHeal

But there are other ways to support no matter how small it may seem. For an example, by watching the video below and give it a 'like' in youtube.

You can also CONTRIBUTE IMMENSELY by subscribing to their official youtube channel here:

Link: KyoaniChannel

You can go through the videos posted in their channel and increase the viewers count. By clicking 'like'. it will also be automatically recommended by youtube to other user's recommendations. The number of subscribers have increased substantially in the past 24 hours (just surpassed 250K) and it's still growing.

This is our time to show support as the international anime community. You can become a part of the chain that will help the studio in these trying hours.

Please share this idea or any other you may have. Thank you.

gonna add advocating preventive measures (at least for those that does not care emotionally but cares about future stuff like this happening again) like security guards i read some post saying there is a report that says that KyoAni building disabled their security because of a TV filiming segment thats why there are more people than normal on that building that day but really now there should be at least few security guards in times that there are a lot of people in any event

Donations/Support(Updated)
Sentai Filmworks has set up a GoFundMe page to benefit KyoAni. They tweeted about it, confirming its legitimacy(https://twitter.com/SentaiFilmworks/status/1151726531896643584). While details of how this money will actually get to KyoAni, or whether or not they will accept it, is still unknown, Sentai has said that they are partnering with GoFundMe for the campaign and that the money donated is being held until details are confirmed. It may still be wise to wait to donate until we hear from KyoAni themselves, but it seems that the existing GoFundMe is being run legitimately.

Others have also been talking about buying digital goods from KyoAni's online shop(https://kyoani.shop-pro.jp/), as this money goes directly to KyoAni and there is minimal effort required of the staff to process these payments. A guide to doing so has been made.(https://twitter.com/gokunobaka/status/1151813889362989056)

In Japan, many companies and locations will also collect donations for the studio and the affected, including retail chain Animate(https://www.animate.co.jp/info/278030/), Uji City at Sightseeing Center 1(https://twitter.com/hibike_joinus/status/1152404946685325312), and the Kyoto International Manga Museum(https://twitter.com/MIYU_Karasuma/status/1152388564451090432)

Crunchyroll has also released a statement and created a form for those who wish to share messages with KyoAni. It can be found here.(https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/07/18-1/share-your-message-of-support-with-kyoto-animation)

Additionally, the mod team is trying to organize a tribute to KyoAni in the form of fanart and well-wishes. A couple mods who are in Japan/will be traveling there soon have offered to deliver copies of some community items to the studio. We don't have any guarantees, as it's still very early in KyoAni's recovery from this tragedy, but we are in the early stages of coordinating this. In the meantime, we encourage anyone who would like something delivered to KyoAni to reply in the stickied comment.

According to this the building only has 2 stairways and 2 main entrance.

If you are here in MAL then that mean it is related to you too. No matter what your preference in anime is there is no one benefit from any of this. So stop with all crap about like and dislike since this is not the time nor the place for this. We are all suffering a great loss.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

I'm guessing when the building were first designed they consider the 2 main stairways as fire exit as well? Should have more stairways.

KyoAni may not be the first studio I heard for when I came into the anime community, but it has become one of my favorite studios and one of the most profound ones to really touch me with their works of art. Even if said shows aren't exactly good with their story or character structure, their visual works, especially in the recent era, are absolute stunning and a must-see, imo.

@shanimebib, thanks for taking your time doing this!

I’ve been devastated and in tears since yesterday too so I understand how you feel. KyoAni is a gem irreplaceable and that was only made possible thanks to the hard work and efforts of those 70 people who had to undergo such an underserved and underhanded disaster. It truly is a grievous and dark day for the Anime Community and I’d like to urge the fans to support in whatever way possible irregardless of the scope of support.

I didn’t think about watching their vids and consequently liking them, so I’ll be off immediately to do that! I don’t have the luxury of earning money so I wasn’t able to donate much but I’m down for helping in any other possible way. And I’m really frustrated and gutted at myself because I can’t do but to those who have the chance to, please don’t ignore it! I’m not by any means saying to pitch in for me, but for the good of the victims, their families and for the Anime industry, just to make things clear.

There is another fastest and sure way to monetarily contribute to the studio as @youseiki posted above by purchasing Free! and/or Hibike! Euphonium 3840×2160 Extra High Resolution Digital image(s) through downloading from links shared by Kyoto Animation through email upon purchase.

The images are 216 JPY each which is roughly USD 2.00 or CAD 2.60 or GBP 1.6 or or 1.8 Euro. It's less than a doughnut and a cup of coffee at the starbucks or the tims if one considers they can live without taking one in a fine morning. Wishing many beautiful mornings just for sparing one for KyoAni .

Simply go to:

https://kyoani.shop-pro.jp/

Scroll down, select the images you want to purchase (adding one at a time to the cart) and pay using credit card.

Follow the instructions shared above. If you find it difficult, wait while I prepare a more detailed guideline on how to purchase and contribute directly to the studio.

@_MushiRock11_: Yes. Subscribing to their channels, watching the videos and giving them 'likes' may not seem grand but through collective effort, it will surely show results. The number of subscribers have been growing very fast and it brings me to tears seeing the love and passion shown by the anime community. :')

Edit: Walk Through Added:
The link is already given above.

Thanks for going through it. I have already made purchases and it works (instantaneous).

Kyoto Animation is definitely one of my favorite anime studios of all time and I am devastated about what had happened to them as much as everyone else is. They made two of my favorite anime, Haruhi Suzumiya and Violet Evergarden (which those have 2 of my favorite female anime characters, Yuki Nagato and Violet).
KyoAni's shows helped me become a true anime fan which is why I will do my best to support them. I decided to subscribe to their YT channel and like posts in social media that relate to their shows. And also, as a bonus, I have Violet "smiling" in my profile picture too.

I think that's great, these two don't even know their series, except A Silent Voice, because I showed them the movie and they loved it.

yes it will help too (they will get royalities from those german licensors) but not as big as buying direct discs from japan although check if there is english subtitles on those japan discs you want to buy

How incredibly shocking, what horrible news.

Almost half of the 74 people in that building died. I can only imagine if you're somehow able to get a job at kyo ani of all places, you must have dreamed and fought for it all your life. Each one of those 33 individuals must have had exceptional heart and talent. And how needlessly they died. What can I even say.

I don't mean to sound so negative, but unfortunately, I don't think they will, most anime studio's have around 90-100 or more people, I'm not sure if this is correct or not, but I believe Kyoani had around 100-140 employees, could be wrong. With 33 dead (not sure if the amount went up, hopefully not) and a lot of the others severely injured, emotional injury, and Kyoani confirming they lost all work in the building. I just hope those injured can make a recovery.

This is the least I can do right now. While I have no way to tell how many people are actually gonna buy from https://kyoani.shop-pro.jp/, I know for sure that fans are subscribing to the official YT channel. Over the last two days, the channel added a lot of subscribers. At least 10K more fans subscribed since I first created the msg. I am 100% sure there are other sources that are encouraging people to do similar things.

While there are many comments in the forums and boards show real lack of tact from some users, the are actually really small in the overall fanbase. Otherwise, we wouldn't have seen over 50K donors (accumulating to close to USD 1.7m) in less than 48 hours since the GoFundMe was initiated.

However, it's never gonna be enough. Life is precious and no amount of money can ever change it. A majority of them were so young. And you can tell how passionate they were from the level of details of the work they produced.

This video:

It just breaks my heart when imagining the amount of passion and dedication that are put in every single frame by these animators in KyoAni to meet such an end.
