Saiki Kusuo deserves more attention. Such a shame it was overshadowed by Konosuba...

Kyousou Giga, while definitely not being a master piece, is a show that I liked a lot that I never heard anything about before watching it a few months ago. Shin Sekai Yori is actually relatively well known, but I feel like it deserves more recognition that it gets

Both are ecchi comedies. Both are sexy as hell, and both are just as absolutely hilarious, albeit in different ways, Umishou being much more bombastic and loud, and Magipoka being much more rooted in the dysfunction of its cast, their environment and their dynamic. Still, love both and I consider them the two most legitimately funny ecchi comedies I've watched.

Recently watched Cross Game which seems to be somewhat 'lesser' known with 35k completed and I thought it was a really good sports/romance/sol show that deserves more attention.

even though it's not that of "lesser known" anime with 38k completed. still, it was outplayed and ignored by the popular titles of Fall 2013 like Kyoukai no Kanata
and Kill la Kill. but it was surprisingly good, especially the ending was heartwarming

Earth Girl Arjuna, the show as a whole is bad but I loved it anyways at the time I watched it only because of how different it was. Gotta rewatch it sometime.

Probably has to be Denpa Teki na Kanojo.

Kind of wish there was a 12 episode season or some more OVA episodes of this instead of just 2 OVAs.

This is quite touching kids show from the eighties. It's based from old book from my home country and also very realistic depiction of Finnish country side lifestyle over 100 years ago. I'm history geek and was very impressed how they managed to get that many details looking so authentic.

For example the bank notes seen in that anime looked just like the real ones from 1910's. I remember also many signs, product names, papers and other texts written in real finnish language. Most of the farm tools, architecture, vehicles, clothes and other details were just like real things what i have seen in local museums.
I't was just amazing to see that amount of work and precision used to small less important details like that.

Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

My favorite "lesser known" anime would probably be Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta (30k completed). It's not a masterpiece but a great military/romance/drama anime and quite unique imo...

Ah man, I've got so many.

-Hanapa Bazooka

-Shin Cutey Honey

-Zeorymer

-Iczer 1 and 3

-Dangaioh

-Battle Angel

-Genocyber (just the first three OVAs)

-Shadow Skill

-Now and Then, Here and There

-Nausica (can probably skip the filler tho, if you're not watching it 1st time)

-Silent Mobius

-Sol Bianca

-Ronin Warriors

....and I kind of realize I'm just mentioning relatively unknown gems I quite liked. In general I don't like having to whittle it down to very few, b/c I get kicks out of these for different reasons.

Hell, I don't think I actually rank my anime in general, just if I enjoyed or didn't enjoy them, or learned something art/composition/storytelling-wise when watching them. So even shitty stuff tends to have some bit of value to me.

NUMBER 3 : Simoun - not the most collected story telling, but still understandable (maybe a bit pretentious, or I just didn't get all)

NUMBER 2 : HanTsuki - this is an out of the way romance (a bit off of the tipical staff and only 6 eps.)

NUMBER 1 : Gilgamesh - I considered myself partially elitist, then my anime hiatus came. But THIS anime is the hidden gem of elitists, still consumable for most people.

You're not advertising it enough to persuade people to see it.

Pictures get people's attention.

But I really don't care whether they watch it or not. I answer threads like this to talk about series and stuff that I like, not as a means of advertisement or prostelyzing as much. If somebody takes interest in something after I do as much then it's just a side-effect, not the intended goal.

IpreferEcchi said:

I do not know what you have and have not watched because I have never taken the time to look at as much, so I wouldn't assume anything either way considering I have pretty much no knowledge of your list. I also don't sit there and think things like "gee, I bet IPE has never watched Magipoka," as crazy as that may sound.

Momokuri. Popularity #1674. Members 46,127.

I watched it and it became my favourite romance anime. I gave it a 9/10. I really enjoyed it. Can't believe that it's not more popular. And it's not even that old of an anime. It's from 2015.
