THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
We start off with a flashback to the moment when everyone was making their way to Earth from Rakuyou. Basically, everyone eating while discussing about the situation. But lol, of course they’re not taking the conversation seriously. Lol at the croquette’s analogy to the situation on Earth. Sakamoto’s whole plan is to trade in the Tendoshu’s heads to the Liberation Army to get them off Earth. By using a trade deal with them, they’ll have to only focus on one army to fight with. Zura and Gin disagree with the plan since the Liberation Army wanted their hands on Earth more than anything, so they would never agree to that deal. Nobunobu will try to initiate the negotiations with his image and power though. We get a bit of Kabuki-cho’s situation. Otae’s poisoning the fighters with her terrible cooking, Kyuubei’s attacking all the allied men that touches her, ahh… of course the situation’s like that.

Gintama gets a new eye-catch for the final arc. New eye-catch isn't as badass as the ones they used during the last three arcs though. Also, it seems like they were playing a new soundtrack during Tsukuyo's scene (a more melancholic version of the remixed main theme shown last episode).

Man, it’s nice to see Nobunobu take the center stage. His appearance in episode 281 with that hype-ass music made me think that he would be end-game material stuff and a total badass villain. Than he became a running gag with the whole punch thing, did absolutely nothing since he was a puppet, then immediately joined the good side. Finally, Nobunobu gets the moment he deserved. The moment that lives up to episode 281’s hype. He… he gets a toilet gag…

Sorachi never loses the opportunity to make a gag out of everything. Oh, you thought that it’ll be a serious political negotiation. Of course not, this is Gintama konoyaro!! This episode shared similarities with episode 79 of Gintama, with the whole toilets and misunderstanding thing. But this episode was only about Nobunobu’s suffering. LMAO, Katsura and Sakamoto’s not gonna let him take a shit cause he’ll need to talk shit with the Liberation Army. Holy mother of fuck, the amount of misunderstandings in this episode killed me!!! Nobunobu went from someone who was an asshole to someone who needs to use his asshole. Nobunobu couldn’t care less about Earth exploding if his butthole’s gonna explode first. HOLY SHIT, sadistic Katsura and Sakamoto are the best!! Nobunobu’s fucking reactions were priceless too. I love how the Liberation Army interprets Nobunobu holding his shit in as him holding a bomb inside himself. And Katsura and Sakamoto’s straight-man reactions add more to the scene! LMAO at the Admiral using a reverse technique the counter Nobunobu’s attack. Too bad in the end, Sakamoto and Katsura screwed over Nobunobu XD

"Unko desu" XD

10/10, greatest negotiation of all time. This episode was just a riot! Although it’s not the funniest Gintama episode of all time, it definitely felt like top-three material. The last time I’ve laughed this hard was… probably when I read this the manga when it was released. No matter how funny Porori-hen was, this episode was the return of Gintama’s old style of comedy, something you would normally see in the first season of Gintama. So far, this arc has so far gotten the nostalgia we need from a final arc of such a long-running series. Everything about this arc just feels like a celebration of Gintama, with the return of old characters, the mix of seriousness with comedy, all of the character quirks coming to play, etc. As I said before, this is the most ‘Gintama’ Gintama has ever gotten, and hopefully it continues this way.

This episode has some good artwork, as everything looked consistently good. There's no action in the episode, so there's no animation-extensive scenes. But the reaction faces were absolutely well done. The over-the-top animations in Nobunobu's expressions made this episode so much funnier. Two chapters were adapted (chapters 599-600). I’m a bit uncertain on how many chapter’s the next episode can adapt. Not sure what spot would be a good stopping point for the next episode. I really wish that the end of chapter 605 ends of being the end of the fourth episode, but there's not enough content to pad out to reach that chapter during the end of that episode.

5/5

The preview in this episode shows stuff that can either be 603 or 604 content. Kinda hard to tell.

604 is not a bad place to end a episode, but I feel like 604 was the perfect build up for chapter 605(which I think will be the commercial break cliffhanger for Episode 345)

I think 604 is a better ending point that 603. I guess chapter 605 can be the start of an episode (prior to the OP playing, and maybe getting some changes in the OP).

About the animation of this episode, we had a great surprise.
Gintama is produced by BNP Studio C, but this episode was made by another team. Yes, this episode was produced by the Dream Festival anime team, which means that this episode was probably made by BNP Studio D with help from Studio A.
The director of this episode was Matsui Hitoyuki (ま つ い ひ と ゆ き), director of episodes of Dream Fes.
The storyboarder was Hirofumi Ogura (小 倉 宏 文) of epispods 274 and 337
Screenplay by Masaki Tachihara (立 原 正 輝) from episodes 329, 330, 337, 338, 339

This episode had again 3 directors of animation, like the previous one:
[img]https://i.imgur.com/CpqLMI1.png[/ img]
米 山 浩 平 = Kohei Yoneyama (No work on Gintama, working previously on Dream Festival!)
尾崎 正 幸 = Masayuki Ozaki (eps 109,116, 123, 130, 137 and 2013 film, moreover, has been working on Sunrise / BNP shows: Akaitsu Stars, Dream Festival, Love Live Sunshine)
平 岡雅 樹 = Masaki Hiraoka (Only shows from Sunrise / BNP, such as Brave Beats, Dream Fes (again) and Gundam IBO S2).

In the staff of animators we had Hrotaka Nii! What made this scene amazing: https://www.sakugabooru.com/post/show/20946

Beyond Miyuki Matsumoto (she came back!)
https://www.sakugabooru.com/post?tags=miyuki_matsumoto+

Seeing new teams working on Gintama is really something that makes me happy, I hope BNP is careful in the action episodes too.

(I think I'll comment on the staff every week, or at least when something interesting happens.)

Great episode as always.

The opening segment with Katsura and Sakamoto arguing and the comparison of Earth's situation with the croquette was funny. xD

I loved the part where Hinowa mentions the irony of how the metallic ceiling that once trapped the women of Yoshiwara was now protecting the people of Edo. That was really beautiful. :)

Them negotiations were epic. XDD
Poor NobuNobu, Katsura and Sakamoto gave him no slack. xD

Damn best negotiation ever. First meeting pretty much ended with the Shogun using the toilet and later watching Star Wars with Sakamoto and Katsura lmao. Who would have thought that such a major poop misunderstanding would be the turning point for this negotiations? lol Actually, felt bad for Nobu Nobu for the first time in the show. Good job Kagura.

I thought it was cool to see what all of the different groups were doing to prepare for this upcoming battle (when Shinpachi was briefing Zura on what was happening on Earth's end).

Oh my god, what a great negotiation scene. The misunderstandings and the poop references were too much to handle. That was disgusting but hilarious at the same time.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Gintama officially perfected the poop joke.

Not only can they make the poop joke great again, but the fact that it is also used to create tension and has narrative weight, both in a contextual and meta-contextual sense, is fucking mindblowing. I wish I noticed all of this sooner. I FUCKING LOVE GINTAMA.
