This was actually pretty fun, for a police show that is. The artwork has an old school like feel to it and Seiko Fuji's role in the show is quite amusing.

Character chemistry wise, I also kinda like her chemistry with Mai so far. Hopefully both characters get their development. For Mai, she definitely needs to build more of her confidence to succeed in her line of work.

Neat start imo.

Madhouse's next venture into a police gag comedy is quite the thing. Also, another good OST with Riko Azuna's OP and nonoc's ED is OK.

At first, this is pretty much the story of Machiyama Police Box, of Mai Kawai (her VA being last season's Takt Op. Destiny's Destiny) of becoming a civil servant job of a police officer, only to wanting to resign after being on the force and worked to the death. That is until the chief director of Criminal Affairs, now demoted Sergeant Seiko Fuji comes in to shake her life for the better. At the very least, criminals have a sharper mind than those in power.

But damn, Fuji has a sharp tongue as well, and that adds to the hilarity of being a punching bag of the general public. Even worse, they're tax parasites, and Mai's reason to join the police is because of her father...what a lad. Except when they are asked to teach to kids, manipulating their worldview just will not do, but being truthful is the best experience and a learning point.

It's hard being a police officer, but this comedy gag ride is certainly worth an interesting start. Could be a dark horse of the season.

I've never been penalized but I was a little surprised to see the penalty fee for violating the speed limit of 15,000 Yen, is that too much? The interrogation room is the noisiest room in the police station, yeah we don't know what's going on there.

I would hate to do this job but it just seems to be a funny work life police anime, I like this duo, especially Kawai xD funny how the burglar didn't care about his arrestation though xD and Kawai's father is already memorable

Someone from police force learning about interrogation from a burglar, well it's enough for anyone to guess things are a bit twisted here lmao. Anyways good experience for novice Kawaii ig. Also she's a fun character to be on screen along with chief Fuji.

So pretty much a fun start I'd say.

Alright, this is probably going to be one of my favorite comedy series. The character interaction is just awesome. I had a smile on my face the whole episode and I couldn't stop laughing when Chief Fuji muttered bad stuff. Kawai is pretty funny too and I love her reactions. This is just an incredibly funny duo and hopefully it stays so. I love how they just had a normal conversation with a buglar. Kawai even ended up bowing down to him cause he taught her a lot of things. This is just AWESEOME.
It was a bit serious in the end and I can say that I've learnt a few things from this episode. Chief Fuji in normal clothes is pretty adorable but she's one hell of a woman.
The voice acting is perfect!

Great opening and the ending is pretty okay.

Among the 3 premieres I've seen so far today, this was easily the best one of the three and an actual solid premiere for once. Visually a bit iffy and retro-like with the presentation but the chemistry between Fuji and Kawai is definitely there to some degree, and it was nice showing the lives of police officers for a refreshing change compared to many other shows this season which feel derivative from other series or are just sequels.

It's not a show that makes me laugh out loud by any means but seeing their lives of upholding justice and seeing the positives and negatives of being an officer in the first place for Kawai rather than just portraying it in the most positive light possible was fine enough to not have me feel bored by it whatsoever, so it's sort of fun in its own way although surface-level without much risk-taking. OP and ED songs were good listens.

It's not the best premiere I've ever seen, but it does the job in an okay enough manner. I definitely am more engaged to this series and the light humor and the showcase of the lives of normal police officers, than what I saw from Leadale and Orient today.

Only real thing I hope for the long run of this series is for the situations, humor and storytelling to not feel too mundane and dry since the charm of the work life anime could vanish really quickly and turn the series into pure mediocrity since there were some repetitive signs by the end in this episode. The chance is definitely there, so I hope the anime avoids that and manages to stay fresh for the whole season.

That's why I'll say it's about an average premiere for normal anime standards and a good one for Winter 2022 standards since this season sounds really poor to me in general.

Kawai is actually really sweet. Because of the things that happened to her in the past, she has empathy for the people in traffic. LOL. That should never be the case if you are a police officer but that was funny. Fuji is an interesting character as well. And, she's really gorgeous.

That was much more wholesome than I was initially thinking it to be. Great start to this show.

Happy New Year, everyone. I hope 2022 has already set in for you, because it sure is just like 2020 and 2021....anyways. So I guess the first seasonal anime we're getting is a police anime, and like everybody is saying, this is a rare one.

Kawai (Mai) and Fuji (Seiko) are the duo in this anime, and sure enough they have built enough chemistry right from the get go. At first, I was thinking that this might be a...y'know promotional stuff about Japan's police. And throughout the episode, not gonna lie, I was pausing so much thinking that they're policewomen. But sure enough this is more than just "police-do-these-stuff" anime, since our duo has some more shit than just enforcing stuff.

I love that Fuji is that senior where clearly she's been through enough shit to turn her innocent mind into pieces long long ago, and Kawai, well she's on the way there clearly. What turned me on the most is the cuss words this was letting off, somewhat uncommon in anime folks I gotta say. And as a result, very comedic that may take some time to settle in with me. And I just looked up the VA for Kawai and Fuji, and they're the same people who voiced Destiny and Mikasa respectively, so yeah gotta go back to the episode just for that fact.

Instantly recognized Mikasa's and Violet's voice. Makes Fuji all the more enchanting.

Generally speaking, positive to note is that this is pretty much a snarky work life comedy in the vein of something such as Uramichi Oniisan. Satire is always welcome. I like the dry delivery of the gags at that. Lmao @ them getting pissed off at the end. The pornstar line was also pretty lol.

All in all a nice start.

An interesting first Episode, going for a "the police might be rough/foolish (thus the comedy aspect) sometimes, but they are necessary for society and we should appreciate them" approach, which isn't unexpected.

The comedy itself made me laugh a couple of times, and it's probably a more Slice of Life semi-episodic story.

The music was alright, and am I the only one who is somewhat reminded of Jojo's Bizzarre Adventures when it comes to some of the artstyle.

I'm probably going to drop this show tbh.

I feel this anime will be unpopular over the run just for being about police. Even if the quality is really good.

The burglar was a state of mind itself. They got me, now lets just enjoy the ride.

I like Mai's flashback time.

It's good to have a family open/close that you can talk about being scammed by a porn site.

The OP/ED surely is invested in the esthetic of romcom.

Well, let's make some conversions.
15000 yen is around 114€

It's less than the minimum fine you can get in Portugal.
If you go 20km/h above the limit, you get fines between 120 and 600€

(You can be fined if you go above 5km/h with a fine between 60€ and 300€, but it's in stop operations and the cops like to use the max fine)

Conclusion: I wish fines so low

Screw that haha 😆 600 euros lol 😆

In Australia it’s just depends on how much speed if your doing 20 over the speed limit usually is 330$ haha

Europe is… god damn if that’s not revenue making I don’t know what is LOL

Great episode! I really love the chemistry between Fuji and Mai! Fuji is a very sharp policewoman and caught that burglar easily! Mai got valuable information from the burglar and bowed down to her xD. Mai seems to reminisce a lot and Fuji is afraid of becoming a pamphlet policewoman!

I don't think I've ventured into an anime focused on police officers before, so this is possibly a first for me. Not just that, but it's also the first 2022 anime that I'm watching as well and I'd say it's gotten off to a good start.

Mai and Fuji have a nice chemistry between each other working together and tackling crime as they go. The visuals are good, the comedy is amusing most of the time and I do like the OP/ED songs as well.

I doubt the score for this series will be high or anything, but I don't really care too much about that. Just as long as this series leaves a smile on my face after each episode, then that's fine by me. ^_^

Tbh. I actually didn't like it all that much. It's OK far as I am concerned, and the comedy gags throughout weren't really funny to me, but who knows, future gags could have me laughing, but so far, it just felt forced in parts, and didn't really give me the giggles, or any sense. Will continue with it however, as there aren't many, if any Police themed animes around or out there.

It's rare to see an anime about police officers and the fact that this a gag comedy series makes this show more engaging rather than boring. This episode basically shows a day in the life of a patrol officer in Japan from walking the streets to traffic stops. I like the dynamic between Fuji and Mai as Fuji is very good at what she does, but its obvious that her sharpness can rub people the wrong way. Mai doesn't like being a police officer, but she has empathy that allows her to connect with the people around her. I don't mind Mai for wanting to quit because being a in law enforcement is a thankless job.

My only concern is that this being a slice of life comedy series, they have a tendency to run the same gags over and over again. Let's hope that its not the case with this show and keep the comedy fresh.

Did I just watch 20 minutes of being part of the police is hard? Yes, I think I did. Honestly not that bad. Nothing spectacular, just okay.

Mai and Seiko's characters kind of feed off each other. Their interactions with each other were the highlight of this opening episode. Can't forget about Seiko fiery temper. How will she get annoyed next week?

I gotta say, it's weird that Madhouse is doing this type of show. I never thought it'd be in their ballpark, but anime studios nowadays will take anything they're given. I'd expect maybe a studio like TMS Entertainment to pick this up, tbh.

Initial thoughts: T'was okay. Need more eps to get a feel for it.
