Damn, felt really bad for Tarao and their health this episode...seems like in their world, anything could happen at any time. This is just an example that death is a reality.

Maru and Kiruko goes to Tokyo an there's more exploration. Speaking of anything, that is quite a discovery made at the end. I should say that perhaps there are some secrets that may be best left undiscovered. Will have to see where this leads to.

That’s why you should refrain from jumping on a kid who’s quietly playing his games, moreover when he already is down in the dumps casue the girl he had a crush on turned out to be a dude… I mean get a brutal beat-up otherwise. Though a bit about Maru’s background, and it’s clear he lived through the same orphan life Kiruko did minus maybe not getting sliced in half by a man-eater. That way he lost his guardian figure Mikura, and then met Kiruko some time later, with their search for heaven still underway. Though they’re a fun pair, they may not have become lovers but are damn good buddies.

Back at the facility, the sick kid, Tarao, is dead. And guess this wasn't the first such instance when some kid lost their life while still living there, though these adults are good at covering things up, but still with their goals unknown one can only assume what they’re up to. I mean things about “pickup” or anything, it’s only a mystery clouding up over everything concerning this facility. Further more people are getting sick and… that was indeed something not normal there in the end.

"Ten'ei 17" So 17 was the year (in the cameras)! There was a Ten'ei era in Japan irl which spanned from July 1110 through July 1113, I wonder why did they use the same era name again. Also because of the year being written in the Japanese era system (like how 2023 is Reiwa 5) we still can't be sure whether the events we're seeing are happening at the same time or not.
Tarao T_T. It's nice and kinda surprising to see the old woman care about the children enought to cry when they die. Means they aren't seen as just guinea pigs (by her at least).
And I'm still curious about Maru's ability. Where did it come from? Why does only he have it? How it works?

Ten’ei means something like heaven’s glory or eternal heaven depending on how it’s written in Kanji. It’s pretty interesting considering the name of the show.

an episode that seemed to be a SoL with little to tell but then there are disturbing twists: especially in the college where there is a disease affecting the children. In the other story the duo will perhaps manage to get to the doctor. The two plot lines share the fact that experiments are being carried out on humans... The reasons will probably be revealed later in the series. Surely the origin of the monsters will be interesting and creepy at the same.

Quite a nice balance in the episode with action, backstory, children in the facility and new info about the world, all very sparingly so that it never gets boring. We get to see what is most likely the source of the infection spreading, which is more of an acquired thing. Tarao's ability also seem to be strength. Regarding the other death, only Kona seem to know or atleast have a sort of idea about the death of the first child.

Kiruko and Maru still proving that they have the balls to edge out of fights, their survival is still as adamant.

Maru's backstory this time, and his life isn't all too different from being involved in gangs and all, with this woman Mikura teaching her on how to kill Hiruko. This story that has been repeated umpteen times over, nd Maru still don't quite understand that he'll get both himself and Hiruko in more trouble if she shows up in public. Hiruko goes in his stead, and learning of the myth that is the Ministry of Reconstruction during her time as a male, that sounds like Heaven as well, that upon her return to the room that they were lodging in, she thought that he was being abducted by the gangsters, whilst he was in the next room...reading up on porn magazines. The brother in his sister's body being suddenly caring about Maru to burst in tears, he has felt her worst. And from the town's magazine, both of them managed to pick up some clues, albeit that they're old rumors.

Tokio's footprint found on the walls of the laboratory, and Tarao's death has been pretty much confirmed for a funeral-like farewell amongst everyone. Aside from her suspecting that a fellow child died the same way (which Kona knows the full truth that it's not), Asura's death was a totally intentional thing. The so-called "Day of Fate" that cannot be stopped, and Tarao's illness must be found of its development before anyone else gets stricken by it.

Both Kiruko amd Maru thought that they're being targeted by the thugs, instead, it was the guy on the shop that he requested for protection from Hiruko, and he too has a story to tell: the bag that holds critical information on the man-eaters, and it's from this Immortal Order. So, 2 things: getting fresh water and finding the illusive Order, and the facility's Director is brought to see...an unidentified object.

Bring on the suspense, this does not get enough anticipation for what lies ahead.

i was really hoping tarao would get lucky and survive, but i realize there was no chance of that happening. still, i felt sad when he died.

i think im pretty set on the fact that the facility is "heaven". it just makes sense with what we've heard about heaven and what we know about the facility. i was thinking the 100% safe water on the map might be near the facility because they would filter water and such, but maybe it's just a nature spring or something. though the place with the doctor who can make people live forever? seems like that may end up being the facility or something related to it, as it seems fusing humans and monsters is exactly what they're doing.

Listen.... this year may get better shows.

hell, even already vinland saga probably objectively tops this in more areas than not,

but I don't think there is going to be anything else that I enjoy nearly as much as this show. It feels like it has everything I ever wanted. It's uncensored in every way. it handles everything with grace, it uses ideas not to teach you something, but to tell a god damn good story. it looks great, it's paced great. it's filled with mystery and presents twist after twist, it doesn't treat you like an idiot, it's thrilling, it's emotional and so much more.

it needs it's one big exceptional bit to be one of the best, but damn it, I would be lying if I said it isn't doing everything that I have ever wanted in a story.

this feels like I got the second season of the, the promised neverland that I wanted. and It's healing the wound that season 2 of that show left me.... I'm just so happy this show exist....

this is why I love anime

Damn what an episode. Maru absolutely destroyed those thugs tried to let them go, but they just kept starting stuff.

Kiruko has really developed a strong attachment to Maru. Haven’t seen her be as rattled as when she thought he was gone.

Based on the info the sailor guy gave us I’m pretty sure the kids in that facility have been given special abilities from being fused with the monster parts.

The place with the water being 100 percent pure is probably near the facility too and has pure water because of the filtration system. A lot of mysteries tho, can’t wait for next week

Kiruko cares for Maru way more than she thinks. Just look at how much she panicked when she couldn't find him. I have a bad feeling about the people they are going to meet. Also what's that thing inside Tarao's body?

It is true that the episode's rhythm was somewhat slow compared to the previous one, but it still was rich of answers to several questions such as Maru's background, the fact that some children can not resist staying on a body they don't fit into, and the secret of some children's unnatural abilities, the thing that the old man mentioned while asking for protection. We also drove deeper in the relation between Maru and Kiruku ( which some will find over the top a little bit ), and their personnalities. I might be wrong but I think that the doctor is immortal and the reason is not fully what the old man said but something that has a relation with the brain surgery which allows him to live longer by changing bodies which is making the research harder for Kiruku.

Completely agree. I really like the manga but this adaptation is one of the best I've ever seen. Production IG really nailed it and I'm quite confident the show will keep a constant quality until the end.
It's the first time since Wonder Egg Priority that I eagerly wait for the new episode to be released.

Hmm, strange people. Is this finally the connection that Maru and Kiruko will have to the other characters in that closed-off school? That transition is very telling.

We got some funny and wholesome moments between Maru and Kiruko and that ending leaves me curious.

Young Maru looked the same as Tokio, this makes me think that they might be family.
I am still wondering what other connection there could be somehow i am wondering that the guys in the institute and the ones outside are living in the same time but maybe i am overthinking things.
Maru did make a couple of enemies this episode tho but it's doubtful we ever see them again.

What the hell was that thing that was found at Tarao's strecher? It may be the source of the illness, no?

I feel that very little, aside from that plot point, happened in this episode. It is well stablished that Maru is a badass when it comes to fightting (and his backstory didn't feel quite relevant either). Last episode we had Hiruko's backstory and now Maru's. I guess we are about to cross the First Threshold to the world of aventure from now on.

so darn interesting but also so frustrating; the information we get is a super slow drip and that's fine because it helps us connect with the characters and setting more but man i want to know so much more! i don't think this is a show i can rate or pontificate on until i've finished the whole thing because i have a feeling it could be really great or just go south like darling in the franxx or something.

If you mean that there are no magic light rays and convenient clouds of steam or strategically placed splashes of shampoo lather, sure. Other than that, not really. Things have been left out; things that might offend prudes and things that are essential to the story.

After episode 2 of this anime I loved it so much I binged the manga in one night
Overall this is my personal favorite show from this season
Yeah there are other great shows, but I just like everything about it
The art, the fight scenes, the characters, the dialogue, the way the anime has it set up so it flows a little better than the manga, the score? The SETTING? Too good

This anime in one episode solves a question for you but generates another 10 xdd

There are so many weird things that I don't know if I'm understanding the story line correctly anymore, but what I am sure of is that it could easily be the anime of the season.

I don't know what to expect for the next episode; What is the thing that came out of Tarao's body? How do the human hunters work to make people immortal? Tokyo is also sick? Why did Asura commit suicide? Ahhh there are too many doubts

Poor Maru, only people he had to vent with were trying to shake him down and cut the power to the arcade machine he was playing! Thankfully he's built different and was able to neutralize the threat. Kirukos and Maru's relationship is honestly so wholesome, even if Kiruko tries to downplay it! I hope they grow closer throughout this anime. On the other hand with the school students grieving and dealing with the passing of their classmate. We find out they are supposed to be immune to sickness and disease! The perfect humans! I'm even more curious what the goal is there.

This series foreshadowing and exposition is crazy 😮‍💨🔥🤩

Besides Maru's backstory feeling a little rushed imo this was a solid ep for showing how much he and Kiruko have come to rely on one another. Seeing Kiruko freak out coming back in esp after Maru had gotten into it at the arcade made it hit home how much these two have really come to trust in one another and that goes a long way in the world that's been set up 💯(also liked that squad of 2/4 ref that deff showed it well too lol)

The facility storyline is always a wild ride...but I'm about the real time backtracking that explains bits and pieces with subtle hints and mild setup 👀🔥 it's been sick seeing the twists coming up too first the drawing setting up the man-eaters, then seeing the actual babies, the infection and immortality and the impending doomsday...(shits never going right if this place got rumored as the 'heaven' in the 'now' storyline the main duo is looking for I deff wanna know how 😭)

I'm buckled up and feeling lucky to have missed this manga so I can just watch this w fresh eyes first before reading 🤩

Another great episode that ended too fast. It does look like Maru and Tokio could be related and that could be a reason why Maru has super power. I'm thinking either the area with 100% clean water or where the doctor is located may either be the location of "heaven" or close by. I was a little surprised that Kiruko freaked out when Maru was missing before he came out, not sure if it was still just the brother reacting or the sister (up to this point I assume the sister's mind is not present).

Those poor kids in the school (aka "heaven") were most likely experimented on and have maneater DNA inside of them which gives them super abilities but also makes them more susceptible to certain diseases, or so it looks that way at least. Another cliffhanger, looking forward to the next episode.
