THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- So he decided to open a cafe where it will be bar at night. He requested for kisses from the little brother. New character with Kansai dialect appearing to befriend the little brother. First day he went to and back from the school with the little brother, who has trouble riding the train the second day while he gets foods. He talks about how precious is his brother to that ex-co-worker. Little brother heard him saying "little guy who doesn't have ability to get ladies" when getting "raccoon" from the old man, Little brother's mad. So that friend with Kansai dialect will have half-brother, and similar situation (complicated family). Little brother trying to talk to him again by getting into the room. lol @ Little brother biting his neck, showing he will take initiative. lol @ how the ex-co-worker changes his attitude towards the weird relations between main guy and little brother from first half to second half (showing he's used to it like the family). ED with Main guy and megane brother A new lady(?)'s appearance and Little brother being surprised. |

I love this episode so much XD We got to see Kurosaki, Ren's future pal, with his weird accent. Iku's hilarious when he accidentally walked in to Haru and Ren being their... weird gaikokujin selves. The supporting characters in every Abe's stories are always the best XD. Also, what's with this anime and food that looks so damn delicious O.O Those strawberries... |

The only thing that bothered me a little bit is that Haru doesn't seem to mind to kiss his little >brother< in public. I haven't read the manga so maybe I am missing something out but I know that at this point he just means it as a brotherly love and not in a romantical way. Ren does though. Its just something which I can't comprehend well since it should be obvious for Haru that lovers kiss on their mouth and not siblings. And I find it hilarious that only Iku seems to have the exact same thought while the other two brothers just argument with "you know him. He is like that" :D But I think they are adorable nonetheless ~ |

Why would he need to beat the girls or call Ren his "little honey" if he wasn't romantically and sexually interested (despite his notions that Ren has no sex appeal). It's lines like that which give credence to people that say Haruko/Haru/Natsu is a creeper that his *grooming* Ren no matter the age of consent being 13. All of this made me realize how much I dislike the character's personality which I find just bizarre, unnatural and quite frankly creepy. Immature for a 24 year old or not, the guy is kinda batshit IMO. Haru bothers me on the same level that Usami/Usagi is in Junjou Romantica. A charcater I feel took advantage of the naive and clueless young dumbass that is Misaki that was staying at his house. Anyways, this episode made me decide I need to drop this series and not bother even with the manga. |

I wonder if something happened to Haru as a kid and if he really does think it's normal for "siblings" to kiss like that and for it to be non-romantic. Either way, he needs to figure shit out. |

Lol i love Shima is so whatever about them xD But what the hell already Haru. You're interactions with your "little brother" are way too bold. Why doesn't he kiss Shima and Aki like that too? And why didn't Ren correct Kurosaki about the boyfriend thing? Fail. Let the misunderstandings continue. |

I thought it's time for Ren to know more about Japanese flower... The cherry blossom. Haru also seems to get lots of "advantage" from his former job. Ren's new friend starting to realize "something wrong" about his daily life with Haru. LOL |

I think in manga there was one part where Aki said that Haru used to kiss them (twins) on the lips too when they were younger, but then he had to stop when they became older and grew out of it. But yeah it only explains that Haru is extremely affectionate when it comes to his brothers. I do agree that Haru does not show any romantic interest /yet/, and he doesn't expect Ren to feel that kind of thing for him, either. He just keeps on doing it because Ren never really objected. Ren realized too that his 'like' and Haru's 'like' aren't the same. I just feel that it's cruel for Haru to kiss Ren without knowing that he's hurting him by doing so. I'm not sure if he's playing dumb or just really that clueless, even after reading manga OTL |

I live in Germany and you can see really young siblings kiss each other (the same as a light peck on the cheeck) but it is as you said the kids drop that soon. So I also thought that this explanation is just ridiculous. Furthermore I felt uncomfortable when I watched the scene you mentioned. How can he blackmail Ren like this ? I think I am going to give this a chance but I can totally understand why people would drop this. For me there is a little bit of depth missing but maybe there'll be development even if it is a small one. |

Hmm, Haru kissing Ren in school or general in public is IMO very risky as in RL he would get bullied as being gay (though he may not) and being outcasted. Im glad Kurosaki is cool with that he and Iku will probably be my favs in this show. I can tell you as arab that we only kiss on the cheek and only as greeting/saying goodbye. What Haru does is what I did when my siblings were <5 years old. It still feels uncomfortable seeing these scenes but still able to watch this hope it wont turn into something sexual. |

Dammmn that neck kiss was hot as'f. This episode was definitely a favorite so far. I can't help myself from fangirling when Haru kisses Ren in public idgaf if it's "Creepy" I find it adorable and nothing wrong with it. Also glad Kurosaki became Ren's bestie and possibly Haru's love rival :P Can't wait for more episodes I need my doses of BL soon. Anyways heard the early estimate sells for the dvd's were around 3.1k not bad -crosses fingers- there's a slight possibly for a second season. |

Ren got a nice and understanding htomodachi now, that's nice. I didn't expect him to a kansai-dialect speaking friend. Lmao when that Ikuyushi guy saw Haru and Ren kissing. Lol if you are two foreigner guys living in Japan, it's okay to kiss. Good logic. Ren sure got possessive there, the bite scene has been my favorite so far. |

Haru's been bothering and annoying me for like 3 episodes now and I cringe so much every time he kisses Ren, because it just feels so uncomfortable... but this episode Haru took his creepy ass to the next level and actually stalked Ren at school and blackmailed him into kissing in public, what the hell Haru :/ |

Their 'Likes' are different. This is a crucial point. The one with romantic feelings is Ren. This has become quite clear this episode. Haru is holding back - except for the kisses - because he sees Ren as one of his brothers. To establish love beyond family ties is the big theme of this anime. |

It was a good episode, the kissing scene was funny. I also noticed a subtle mistake in this episode, Haru's BMW was drawn as a 4-door car on the inside but on the outside it was a 2-door car. |

I think this anime is okay (and it's BL so that's always a plus) but the way Haru treats Ren really doesn't make much sense to me. The explanation doesn't make much sense either – since when do Canadian siblings kiss each other on the lips? Maybe it's common that people in Quebec kiss each other on the cheek when they meet like we do in France (which is my second homecountry) but a) judging from what we've seen Haru's biological mother is from and resides in the English speaking part of Canada, not the French speaking one and b) it's still on the cheek, not the lips I'm not going to drop the series since I think it's fine overall and I'm a filthy completionist but this "brotherly sexual harassment" bullshit really needs to stop |

I'll just skip over the fact that I'm obviously not the target of this couple's theme (everyone has his/hers own fetishes), and get to the point that this show is terribly jarring with its presentation, lack of plot and lack of substance. It could be renamed to Super Forced Drama and that would perfectly sum up the anime in question. The "plot" is made of sum of Oh My How Tragic! events or thoughts the characters have in terms of their brotherly feelings or lack of these. It wouldn't that be bad if I could actually feel that brotherly love between these guys, but nope: there is so little chemistry (in one or another meaning, because seriously: the romance is as shallow) between any of them, they as well may be complete strangers. It doesn't help they are made of cardboard: Aki switches between liking and not liking Ren as the drama sees fit at the moment and yells sometimes in a pitiful attempt of stating his tsundere archetype, Shima doesn't exist, Haru is fine piece of hunk that lives up a completely otherworldy definition of brotherly love and - depending on a scene - might or might not be a total creep, and it's hard to take Ren, who's combined solely from bunch of cheap pulling-your-heartstrings tropes, namely Morality Pet, Drama Bait and The Walking Bone of Contention (two of them even fit the dog theme, that's almost a hat trick!), seriously. Maybe I set my expectations too high, but honestly, after listening to internet's eulogies about how this series Will Save Yaoi™ and "no, no, no, it only sounds that bad, if you overlook the risky premise, it's actually an incredibly well written story!" I expected something else than a show, that I'm ready to give 2/10 after first 5 episodes. Well, I overlooked the premise, but nothing happens, the characters are bland, the usual yaoi tropes are glaring (oh yeah, look at that sexy Haru, he had a hot job as a host and every pair of boobs in the neighbourhood wants that hot piece of a seme! Well, too bad, girls! These big, caring hands of his should give you a hint where this is going!) and the worst - it has absolutely no charm. Let's be real, none of these newly adapted yaoi is a pinnacle of writing, but you can go miles when your characters appear to be likable o at least "careable". In Super Lovers there's none of that. I'll watch it to the end, but half of the show already passed and... yeeeeeeah. I'm not thrilled, to say the least. ComicSans said: The explanation doesn't make much sense either – since when do Canadian siblings kiss each other on the lips? To be honest I think about it as in "how Japanese author thinks it looks like in Europe/America/wherever that is not Asia or specifically Japan". With the fact that Japanese authors rarely do their research when it comes to, say, christianity, I wouldn't be that surprised. This or just yaoi excuse to show yaoi things without half of the cast calling the police on Haru. I suppose it's common knowledge in Japan that the rest of the world is more open with showing feelings in public, but who cares to what extent, when it fits your fantasy. Fangirls coming in for the MOMENTS certainly don't care. |

Well, I don't know if this anime will 'save' Yaoi (has Yaoi to be saved in the first place?). But I think it's way better than recent titles like Love Stage!!, the Kono Danshi boredom and the kindergarten art by Nakamura (not Shinguku Nakamura, I mean the author of Dokyusei). Somebody mentioned the DVD/Bluray sales. Does somebody have a link to the recent sales numbers? |

Oh shit. I actually thought Haru loves Ren in a romantic way, that's why he kisses him so often. And that he only says he can do it because "they're brothers". To cover it up. That's why I didn't understand when Ren said that their feelings are different. Well, after reading the comments, it's seems I was deeply mistaken. And my point of view on the anime has changed for sure. |

Helenus said: Well, I don't know if this anime will 'save' Yaoi (has Yaoi to be saved in the first place?). You know the gist: everytime something else than Nakamura's works being adapted, the internetz can't get enough of "finally, something else is being made into anime!", "the mold has been broken, now will come the golden age of animated yaoi!". This might be only an impression of mine, but I'd say that Super Lovers got even more of that reception because of "cool plot and by plot I mean plot, not Plot". From what I remember people were mighty happy that "Love Stage!!" - something else than another season of JR or SH - was animated but said nothing or little about whether the story is good or not, I'd admit I wasn't around when Doukyuusei adaptation was announced (altough I heard scraps about it being good and "something different" than usual adaptations) and Kono Danshi... well, it exists. That's what I mean by "saving the yaoi". It's not that much about yaoi's need to be saved (I for one don't think it has to be: it's just one genre that exists better in the manga department, same for yuri and horror), but from what I read, some people have certain expectations. As for the first DVD/Blu-Ray volume selling good: not to rain on your parade, but check out if it doesn't have any seiyuu meeting ticket or some different accolade. These tend to boost first volume's sale tremendously, and then it plummets HARD. For instance Kamigami no Asobi's first volume sold incredibly because of a ticket for a fan meeting with voice actors, the next ones sold so-so at best. Not wishing you bad, just informing you. |

I lean heavily toward being excruciatingly underjudgmental in my moral evaluations... Which may be part of why I'm really enjoying this anime. From my point of view, the show seems to be about two unhealthy people trying to make each other healthy (topped with a bunch of fan service). Which to me is a worthwhile plot. I also find the show morally fascinating since its apparent moral assumptions are different from mine. ...which is an intellectual way of saying, I really want to binge watch this and am sad that I can't. A concern I had in episode 2 still stands--these characters seem way too complicated for a 10-episode series. I fear I'll be disappointed by how much territory remains unexplored. |

So half time. Well for me this anime is still nothing special, BUT as a comedy it's actually really good. xDD But as a shounen-ai it's boring...so so soooo boring. I don't like the story, I don't like the characters, I don't like these unnecessarily dramatic scenes and I hate that I have no idea why Haru and Ren and the other two guys are okay with the fact that Haru is kissing a little boy.(HIS BROTHER btw!) I hope the next 5 episdoes will be better. |

The episode was excellent! Actually, for someone who is reading the manga, this is very satisfying. It's like I am given with every detail that I wanted to see in the anime. Also, the most important thing is that I can't help but shriek for every cute scenes of Haru and Ren !!!! I really wish i could see more than 1 episode a day TT_TT huhuhu Still, patience is a virtue so let's wait until the end (^_~)v |

Then to top it off, he outright tells his friend Iku that Ren is his little honey and that he's confident he could win Ren over any girls in the area. Yes I agree completely with you. Maiika said: MetaKite said: I don't even think it's that. A charcater I feel took advantage of the naive and clueless young dumbass that is Misaki that was staying at his house. You summed up my feelings about Super Lovers. Haru's been bothering and annoying me for like 3 episodes now and I cringe so much every time he kisses Ren, because it just feels so uncomfortable... but this episode Haru took his creepy ass to the next level and actually stalked Ren at school and blackmailed him into kissing in public, what the hell Haru :/ Omg Yaaaaaaaaaasss to all 3 of you. I live in America and I've never kissed any of my family on the mouth. If Ren was 18 or 19, it wouldn't bother me so bad, but Haru is being a straight up perv. I thought this show would be more of a bromance kinda thing (like Free! *tears*), but Haru is making me feel uncomfortable. This is the EXACT feeling I had when I first saw Junjou. It's really awkward because Ren is underage, and I'm like waiting for haru to take it too far. Whomever made the grooming comment was right because that's what I see going on. I don't think I want to continue watching this. I cant watch a 20 something year old man kissing a child and think to myself that it's okay. I really wish the writers would have gone the bromance route, or just made Ren older. Because I just feel sorry for the little guy. He has an innocent mind, but Haru, as an adult, should know better. Whomever thinks this is all okay.... you're starting to worry me... |

Well, it seems this anime isn't well received in the West. We all know what this means: Second Season :^) |

Its just something which I can't comprehend well since it should be obvious for Haru that lovers kiss on their mouth and not siblings. And I find it hilarious that only Iku seems to have the exact same thought while the other two brothers just argument with "you know him. He is like that" :D I don't even think it's that. I don't know what you're ranting about though. Ren's not being taken advantaged. You do have a point though. I think everyone who have read the manga would agree that Ren is more mature than Haru to a certain degree. The anime is a bit flashy but it certainly is spot on in telling the story. There are certain parts in the manga that have been dropped. The manga is still better though. |

If you saw the anime cover and saw the Shounen-Ai tag and expected something different then by all means, tell me what you expected. Anyway, Ren is indeed in love with Haru while Haru does love Ren as a brother but that changes as the story progresses. I really like the story as it stands out from other anime. |

Whooh! Halfway to finishing my very first shounen-ai I know I'll complete. To the people complaining- There's really no need to have such high expectations. If you come in with lower expectations you might enjoy it more. That's what I've been doing. After all, I'm watching this to expand my horizons. Sure, all of Haru's kisses with Ren are downright awkward. But there are people out there who eat that stuff up. How else would this genre be so popular? |

Of course it was expected that the love between them will develop. If anyone thought it won't it is just stupid, I guess. In my opinion it is really bothersome that it started so soon in Rens life. Because he is a minor it may disturb many people even though Haru does not view him as a romantical partner yet. (Which is strange though because he already said that he would be better suited as his lover than any girl and so on) On top of that he slightly blackmails him so that Ren sees no other choice than to kiss him. I am sure that Haru would still give him food though but Ren is a little bit naive even though he is the mature one and he is also in love with Haru so he doesn't mind the kissing. So Haru's behaviour seems to be manipulative and also egoistical. At least at this point of the anime. I like the Shounen-Ai genre a lot and I like to read manga of this genre, I do it a lot as well. In the beginning I thought Haru would be more of a caring brother and supports Ren and he was. Furthermore I thought there won't be any romance involved until Ren is older. Or at least not as much as there is now but maybe I had some different expectations because I thought the love develops over the years. I didn't mean to hate on this series if you thought that. This is just something that made me feel very confused watching the last episode |

The idea of them having a bar is actually pretty good |
"I lost all of what you could call feelings of love. They weren't sealed, so they can't be released. They weren't broken, so they can't be fixed. That which is lost, cannot be recovered." Shiba Tatsuya "There are no regrets. If one can be proud of one's life, one should not wish for another chance." Saber "No matter what happens, no matter how crazy things get, I'll always try to restore balance." Korra "It's madness to let others take what's yours and accept it blindly." Baatar Jr "Instinct is a lie, told by a fearful body, hoping to be wrong." Zaheer "Partner in crime, partner in time" Chloe Price and Max Caulfield |

Anyway, Ren is indeed in love with Haru while Haru does love Ren as a brother but that changes as the story progresses. I really like the story as it stands out from other anime. I did see the cover and the shounen-ai tag before spring season started, and when I read the synopsis I already knew this was going to be weird and awkward, but I had no idea it would be THIS weird and awkward, and, as this episode showed, also creepy. I live in Poland and I've never heard of siblings kissing each other on the lips, I never kissed my brother, the only thing that comes to mind is mothers kissing their little children up until age 6 or so, so Haru's justification is pure bullshit to me and I really don't understand his reasoning. Maybe it's a cultural difference and it's normal in Japan to behave like that, I don't know. And I guess Haru's feelings started turning into romantic love this episode, since he was ok with stalking Ren, making out in public and making people think he's Ren's boyfriend, he said that Ren's his honey and all that, but that made it even creepier for me and I feel sorry for Ren :/ (honestly, I still haven't forgiven Haru for abandoning Ren to be a drunk ass at Iku's place when Haru remembered the accident, I can't stand him ever since...) I don't really know what I expected from this anime, I enjoy shounen-ai and the first episode was interesting, and I've read there was drama and deep story in this anime, so I thought I'll stick around for the ride. Now I think I'll keep watching to see what comes out of this mess. And I can enjoy even the shittiest anime if there are a few seiyuu that I really like xD |

It was the last episode for me, Haru is too weird for me. One kiss was OK but their relation becomes too serious and I don't want to see what will happen the next time. |

It's weird. But it'll have only 10 episodes so I'll try to watch it all, it may be interesting in some way (or gross). I suppose it's impossible to make a good yaoi anime. |

This is just something that made me feel very confused watching the last episode I think the anime may be a little too fast paced that the viewers have the wrong idea that Ren is still a little kid. He's currently either 15 or 16 now I think because his classmate is 16. When they were walking to the station together, I'm sure everybody noticed the height difference. Ren is just short for his height lol. Ren and Haru have an 8 year gap so if Ren is 16 then Haru is 24 and I think it'd be fine if they proclaimed there love for each other. In the manga, Ren proclaimed his love for Haru when he was provoked and jealous and Haru was really happy |

cute episode. I love Ren's friend - he's such a funny guy. I wonder how Ren can kiss Haru right to his lips, at school... even they're brothers. I think it'd be awkward to explain the situation for someone. Yeah, they're not related by blood, but still.. awkward. The episode itself was cute, but since it's the 5th one, I wish to see a real plot. Or something like that. The cafe/bar, relationships going further, and so on. Anyway, I love the show. Btw. Does someone know Haru's and Ren's age? |
