Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 3rd Season Episode 12 Discussion

@silversain2 don't expect much, they changed the previous director who did S1 and S2. S3 director is inexperienced and only good for slice of life kind of anime. They are skipping so much cut content and now Re:zero is becoming mid.

In the novel, Regulas ripped Reinhard leg and shoulder with just his breathe and kicked him to the moon. He also leveled the 1/4th of the city with his unblockable attack.
In anime they made him like a weak goofy clown.

All the hard work they did in the S2 to make him menacing, dangerous and terrifying is now gone down the drain. Shit.

Now I really wish some asshole in the episode 10 thread didn't spoil for me how Regulus' gimmick works (and that his heart is "elsewhere"). Thinking it was ok to mention it since it was cut or something. It is never OK to reference "cut material" (even if you've never read the books, and especially if you haven't read the books).

nah, Reg seemed damned OP to me this whole time. but Beetlejuice seemed the same to me as well. how many episodes did it take Subaru and crew to deal with Beetle? five? six? i mean the whole 1st and most of 2nd seasons the guy was still alive and kicking right? i don't remember exactly how long the actual 'attack' on Beetle was to eliminate him...

So Regulus is basically Accelerator from Toaru Index.

A man so used to being invincible and untouchable. Making any confrontation against him immediately one sided to an extremely unfair degree, he had no reason to learn to physically fight and defend himself.

So once his one power and authority he had been relying on his entire life as an Archbishop was gone, he was completely useless. Making it now a one sided massacre on him.

Can't help but pity and feel sorry for him getting brutally smacked down like that, but he definitely deserved it and needed to be put down.

Honestly the newest episode with Emilia was badass. Animation was on point as well as the pacing. But in terms of a “battle” between regulus and Reinhard and Subaru, I said this when I read the LN and I’ll say it again, it was underwhelming. Regulus was made to be far less of a threat than for how he was built up.

The anime made him look like a menace with crusch, the forest and blowing Subaru’s leg and reinhard’s. And instead of showing the same level of impaitience and brutality at the slightest bit of disrespect, he suddenly had enough patience for the first time this fight to want Subaru to “submit” first before getting serious. All for Subaru to have made it out with just a few scratches from dodging. The entire “fight” was just a bunch of talking from Subaru/emilia and regulus and then regulus showing off all the cool things he can do with his authority just to somehow miss every single shot and not even make it feel like a battle. Reinhard got heavily injured whereas Subaru didn’t even need to loop and the battle was won without any stakes or sacrifice since the wives survived too. It just felt like regulus was being made to move out of the way for the sake of plot. Sirius fight was much more entertaining in terms of putting up a fight.

So my hot take or whatever is that even though logically this is probably the only way the fought could’ve gone, regulus’ personality traits were turned up to 100 for convenience and the sake of Subaru. The anime built it up as a “immovable object vs unstoppable force” type of deal but it was just run and talk from all sides and Reinhard had to be put on time out twice. Both Subaru and regulus said if regulus got serious it would’ve been over but he didn’t. I felt like his temper would’ve made him throw much more stuff around and at least land a single hit but that didn’t happen either. So overall, amazing episode. Animated beautifully and Emilia’s star platinum hits were cute. But the fight was underwhelming for one of the most built-up archbishops. Also I feel sorry for how he died lmao.

Haven't seen any mention about Emillia voicing her attacks. Am I really the only one who found it extremly unpleasant? It's like I'm watching child show. She acts like a toodler while being grown up while being a killer? Of course I can guess it is intentional to make easier transition to Satella later, but it just looks.. terrible and repulsive

Also oh how I'm tired of fans calling every ounce of criticism as bait. Come the fuck on. Do you know any other words?

i think this episode d ve been a bit better if it had a normal lenght, so we got extra minutes but what happened in them?, well we got the villain being annoying an repeating the same lines over an over an over again...an this was supposed to be good?
other than that once again terrible fight, well animated? yes but that doesnt matter when the villain sucks, once again we get another villain who just whines an fails to do any kind of damage on the good guys, in the end he wasnt a threat, just like the previous villain
we still have to 2 main bad guys left, hopefully they ll do better

@lessfull I thought it was cute. The brutal punches with those little screams were funny. And she also screamed like that when fighting against Wrath.

@And4rilho yeah, I also didn't like that in the Wrath fight too. It just creates juxtaposition for me and I can't take the show seriously because of this

The animators really hates Regulus as they give him negative aura and not even care to fully explain his incredible ability and how Subaru figured it lmao. I mean its fine, but that didn't mean I had to go through so much Liliana. These aren't big flaws, but it slightly leaves me wanting...

Key scenes are done very well, but subaru dodging Regulus attacks could have been better executed. They cut a lot of the final Regulus rant but I am not exactly complaining. Emilia and Subaru conversing in front of Regulus was a mixed bag with the conventional camera angles.

Some S2 OSTs returning was great.

Don’t mess around, this is no joke. Each and every one of them, what’s wrong with them that they accept such nonsensical absurdities as if they are a matter of course. That man, that woman, and that knight too, just because I showed a little mercy are getting too ahead of themselves, if I had been serious from the beginning then I could have had torn them apart in bits and pieces, but aren’t they misunderstanding their own power? That you can shamelessly make misunderstandings, that are from my point of view, hilariously wrong, is why I hate getting involved with others! Obnoxious, annoying, irritating, infuriating, vexing, dirty, unsightly scum. I’ve always always been doing well, for years, decades, centuries, this way for all that time, I have been faithfully serving as a Sin Archbishop more than anyone. @KiliianSleipnir The guy who ruined Regulus' gimmick (not naming names) did so two episodes before the reveal. And he @-ed me. And he previously made a thread for anime-onlies to discuss Baten Kaitos' abilities, so I had no way of suspecting that this guy would try and use future-knowledge in a conversation of how AKTUALLY Regulus' gimmick worked.
