I would love to see a new adaptation of Gantz that has good pacing and adapts the full manga done with traditional animation,I don't see it ever happening though and even if it did it would be definitely be watered down because of Japanese tv censors and todays political climate.

It would be cool to see a proper continuation of Berserk that isn't CG. I yearn for the day...

A Ranma reboot would be awesome! I think Outlaw Star would be a successful reboot since it was on toonami would tap into nostalgia for people

None what so ever! In today's climate? Hell no! every single one that gets a "modern" remake/reboots end up being a pile of dog shit! Looking at you "modern" Shaman King, or FLCL or probably the new Urusei Yatsura.

You can't re-create was made those shows brilliantly good back in their day, not know, not ever. So enough with the fake nostalgia and come out and say it like it is.

There only re-making these classic anime so they don't lose the IP's those companies have on them.

1. Mirai Nikki
2. Akame ga kill
3. Death Note (From ep 26 to 37)
4. Yosuga no sora
5. A lull in the sea

The first 3 absolutely needs a remake and I would be happy if the bottom 2 gets a remake.
Just quit anime.

To be fair, I would love to see a remake of Cagliosto's Castle. The movie is fantastic but I would love to see it remade in the style of Lupin III part 5 or Lupin III the first which is a pixar level 3d movie

Blue Gender - Give that show modern animation and a budget and I really think it'd be a huge hit. I'd just love to see that even if it isn't.

Also I like the Gantz idea, but that manga feel off a cliff as it went on so I lose some of my excitement because of that.

I liked what i saw of the classic 97' anime, but i agree with everyone else, a high quality, HD Berserk remake would make everyone go nuts. Something like what they did for Bastard!!!. Extremely tragic that they wouldn't be able to adapt the whole story but even just a single few movies or seasons, it'd be fucking killer.

well, miura-sensei's untimely passing is of course extremely tragic, but if they wait long enough, an adaptation of the whole story would probably be possible, considering berserk is currently publishing, by miura's assistants and mangaka buddy that had been told about the continuation and ending to the series prior.

Monster - just wondering what a modern spin would look like.

Oh wow, I didn't expect there would be a user mentioned Monster. I had watched 12 episodes of it and currently put it in hold because of its old animation. I personally just couldn't stand its resolution and outdated style (both visual and audio) to continue watching it.

Not that it's in super high demand but a truly faithful, no filler remake of Dragon Ball/Z would be pretty cool. It would make for a good 200 episode show, I'd be especially curious about what they'd do with the music.

karin; also known as chibi vampire. the original anime is alright, but i would love to see the manga's story be adapted. it's completely different and so much better. karin is a pretty obscure series though, so its chances of being revived are very slim...

I was hoping for a faithful reboot that covers all of the trigun manga, I believe that's what Trigun needed, but instead for whatever reason we are getting a CG only project that changed Vash The Stampedes iconic design, and will probably switch up the story to its own as well.

Claymore. A full adaptation of the manga with no rushed pacing, good visuals, battles full of sakuga and (above all) no CGI monsters would be a dream came true (though I believe they would use a lot of CGI in a modern animation). Too bad it's never going to happen, since the manga is finished.

Rosario + Vampire, this time adapting the full manga faithfully (and keeping the voice actors from the anime). It is not going to happen, of course, but a man is free to dream.

Umineko would do well with a reboot as long as they don't go the same direction as Higurashi did with glowing fuckdolls instead of characters

Both are perfect just the way they are...well, maybe Excel Saga could use a bit of a visual facelift, but I wouldn't touch the script or the shot compositions.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

yeah i agree they are both amazin' especially golden boy.
but yeah would be nice to see a facelift. But i've also seen where the facelifts in remakes don't look as good. XD aha-

Claymore needs a remake that is faithful to the manga. It ended so abruptly. And it was so rushed.

Berserk definitely needs a remake or at least a proper continuation from the 1997 adaptation. A continuation covering lost girl arc, conviction arc, Millennium falcon arc, and fantasia arc.
It's a lot to ask for but it's so worth it.

Negima, this time properly adapted instead of the massive joke that were the series that went original content super quickly.

Only a few OAV episodes respected the series in their adaptation and that's the result :

Seriously, redo all the series adaptation like that....

Original Fate/Stay Night so all three routes can have a good adaptation by Ufotable and a possible sequel called Hollow Ataraxia

Tsukihime remake by Ufotable..

Give berserk a good anime remake from the beginning.

Watamote school trip arc needs an adaptation. All the new characters are great. Way better than S1 even if I liked S1.

Some of the most iconic characters in manga. Even an OVA, a movie, SOMETHING.

Yuri, Nemo, Asuka...the world is not ready for so much yuriness. UCHI.

Watamote is a definitive manga. It's so much better after S1...

Like Berserk. It's become an ultimate dirty girls manga.

Berserk without a doubt. I mean, the 2016 & 2017 animes were just bad.

No need to reboot the Golden Age arc IMO, the 1997 series and the three movies were fine.

That's one anime where I think my soul would die instantly upon seeing a reboot. Artstyle death in modern anime is real, and for a show that was carried by its vintage aesthetic, that is the same as aggravated manslaughter.

Instead having remakes/reboots, there are so many incredible manga/light novels/visual novels that needs an anime adaptation in which they could have been great and they would be so much better than just having remake/reboots in which most of them are way weaker in comparison to their first anime series e.g hunter x hunter 99 is way better than 2011 pre chimera, most anime does not need a reboot/remake

Two shows stand out for me. First is Rave Master as the TV series took way too many liberties and left the story incomplete, and it doesn't help that it was heavily Americanized to make it more appropriate for a Saturday morning cartoon than a regular anime show. Now that the manga has long been finished and Fairy Tail has been a success that this show deserves to get a remake, preferably by J.C. Staff and the guys who did Edens Zero.

The second is Gundam 0079 as it had a rather messy ending. But with Sunrise having produced a prequel series that this show undoubtedly deserves a remake and to show everybody why Char is one of the most memorable characters in all of anime to the point that every series thereafter had a masked man stirring up chaos.

@GridironOtaku For love of God, NO. Gundam 0079 is a done deal, and that prequel OVA is actually a promotion for a complete manga retelling of 0079. Written by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko, the original character designer.

With how philistine the seasonal tourists turned out to be when G-Witch aired, I doubt I even want the "modern audience" in Gundam.

It was only an OVA, but i would like to see Battle Angel Alita get a real anime season. Also Captain Harlock, and the rest of the Leiji Matsumoto verse (it looks really interesting, but the 70's animation is a little turn down).

@TheMechaManiac I started watching all of Gundam because of Witch from Mercury. I quite liked Mobile Suit Gundam for what it was. It was a bit meandering and doesn't really have an ending, but the appeal is quite clear, and I could see exactly what ideas from it had carried down through the years all the way to G-Witch. I really disliked watching Zeta though. I'm currently up to ZZ which I'm rather enjoying. Obviously I may not actually enjoy them when I actually get to it in several years, but I think the Gundam SEED and Gundam 00 idea of reapproaching the same sort of premises of prior series with a modern lens suits a futurist franchise like Gundam far more than the idea of just remaking bits of it. People shouldn't have to like things to be able to appreciate their contributions to a medium or genre anyway.
